Chapter 13: Taking Off Against the Wind

"Jeoneun yorobuneul mosil gijangimnida*" your voice could be heard booming out of the speakers of the jet and you smiled satified as you verfied the sound system before take-off.

"Does she think this is a commercial flight?" Hoseok mumbled annoyed and rolled his eyes at your little introduction.

"Man, you need to chill. That was actually cute" Joon commented from his seat across the aisle.

"She does look familiar" Jungkook said out of nowhere as he turned back to look at his two hyungs.

"It's Miyoung's ex-girlfriend" Hobi answered knowing that would be enough for the maknae to identify her.

"Ah, that's right! Wait, ex?"

"Yeah, I came across Miyoung right after, she was a mess" his hyung nodded unamused.

"That's awkward. What's the deal with her?" Namjoon insisted and Hoseok tried hard not to lose his temper. He usually was patient, but he was not in the mood.

"Are you mad she's gay?" Yoongi asked from his seat a few rows ahead and all three men looked at the back of it startled.

"What? Why would I be"—Hoseok retorted—"besides, she doesn't seem to discriminate between men and women by the looks of it."

"Oh, I see, her crime is having an active sexual life" Yoongi's girl popped up from her seat next to him, her arms crossed on the head rest. She didn't look very happy either. He chuckled next to her.

"Sounds to me like you need to get laid, Hob-ah" Jungkook's partner commented sounding miffed. The maknae burst out laughing uncontrollably, but quickly told her to not to mess with him. It wasn't gonna end up well.

"She's right on the other side of that door, you know" Hoseok spat out defensively pointing at the flight deck and hoped they'd drop it and leave him alone.

With that they all became quiet and shortly after went back to talking amongst themselves before they slowly settled and fell asleep.

He couldn't seem to fall back asleep, the words kept replaying in his head. Had he been quick to judge? All were assumptions really, but then they questioned him and he did feel silly about it for a second there.

Yes, he didn't do casual himself because he didn't want to bother with that, he was the more monogamous type. But what if you were not? Maybe you just were into seeing multiple people. He really didn't understand it.

The thing was, you'd be seeing a lot of each other in the next few months with them having to fly from place to place every few days and it depended on him how he approached this. He could either fight it or just see how it all went.

From what manager Sejin had told him, the flight crew would be staying with them at hotels as they were a private team that would be 100% dedicated to them. Going back and forth on the days they stayed at certain places was not cost-effective.

Companies they had worked with previously operated differently, maybe they had multiple pilots they worked with all around the world. It sounded like they went down this route this one time because of their status. The band was bigger than ever these days.

It seemed to be the smarter and safest choice to go with. They could afford a private pilot for the entire tour and they were recommended by a long time employee of the company. Miyoung, he assumed. It definitely was the best decision, whether he liked it or not, he had to admit.

Not anyone could afford an apartment at the Trimage so that explained a few things. Also how you spent all your time off seemingly doing absolutely nothing, at times he had wondered whether you just came from a rich family that paid for your luxurious lifestyle.

He had indeed speculated a lot barely knowing you. What he did know, was that you were kind and warm, you welcomed him with rice cakes and were always friendly to him. You were a shameless flirt, but so was Jimin and he was the most mature and understanding man ever.

Cheating though? That was not okay under any circumstances, that he couldn't justify. He saw how no one ever bumped into one another, how Miyoung came frequently when others rarely showed up more than once or twice. How miserable she looked after he saw her for the last time at the complex.

If it were him...he was so mad at you once more, how on Earth was he going to peacefully interact with you? His disliking you was now clear to you and now you walked around with your tail between your legs asking for forgiveness.

It was not him you cheated on, which he couldn't forgive anyway if it were. He had nothing to say to you and he was truly clueless about how to deal with this messy situation.

Hoseok groaned mentally exhausted from going over these things in his head, he thought he was done with his neighbor and he had been feeling so much better about it all lately. In the blink of an eye, from one second to the other, everything had gone to hell once more.

After a smooth landing, your voice was once again heard through the speakers.

"Welcome to Las Vegas, Nevada, everyone! I hope you had a nice flight. I would appreciate your feedback on your first time experience flying with us. I'll see you on your way out."

Taehyung smiled at your words and Hobi huffed as he grabbed his bag and got ready to get off.

"I like her, she's fun and very attentive. She makes you feel comfortable," the younger one commented after noticing Hoseok's reaction.

"What's so bad about her, hyung?" his question came from a good place, he really wanted to know what could have him acting this way. He couldn't recall many moments when the older one had been this disturbed by anything.

"Can you quit asking me questions? I barely know her" his cutting reply had Taehyung grimacing and shutting up. And Hobi feeling dumb once more as that was the truth. Was he overreacting?

As he walked down the steps and was welcomed by the cool evening air, he felt overdressed for the weather at their first destination. Slipping out of his coat, he overheard Seokjin talking to you and the crew.

"Very smooth take off and landing, gijang-nim. It can get a little shaky sometimes on smaller planes" he commented and you smiled widely.

"I'm glad, I've been flying private planes for years and I've always focused on the passenger's comfort. I'm happy to hear you felt at ease" you thanked him with a little bow and he finally walked away.

"Hoseok-ssi"

"Gijang-nim" he replied dryly barely looking at you.

"Did you have a good flight?"

"Yes. Thank you all for your services." with a small smile and one last glance at the flight crew and a nod of his head, he walked past them. He didn't even stop for a second to interact.

"Do you think there were any issues?" Hangyeol, the man in your team, asked and you shook your head 'no' as you sighed.

"I don't think so. Don't worry about it."

It was a personal problem with you, not with anyone else. His attitude was starting to piss you off, he said there were no hard feelings, but his interactions didn't feel genuine. Now he was making your crew feel insecure.

"I'm sure you guys did a great job, as always. Maybe he's tired from the long trip" both flight attendants nodded and you all made your way back into the plane to clean up and leave it in perfect condition for their next flight in a few days.

* Means 'Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking'. I wanted to add this in Korean so you guys know what she introduces herself as (gijang means captain and in a work environment you address people by their profession, not by their name or surname).
