Review

Title and cover –We have always heard about 'On the downside', so hearing this title really makes it a fresh title. It's uncommon yet so beautiful that it captures the soul of the book – I went through it all, only to come to find you. The cover, however, could have been much more than it already is. Since it's the story of two people, they share the same screen space, maybe, they both should have the face on the cover. Or, just objectify the very title (as in, what does 'On The Upside' mean to you). The blurb is also short and simple, straight to the point.

Plot –The story starts off with a solemn mood, the pain, the worry, and the insecurities screaming in between those lines. The switch between the characters was so smooth, yet they were feeling the very same thing. You end up thinking, "Why the heck aren't they talking and sorting it out!!??".But that's the beauty of this plot. That hesitation and that fear of getting rejected is what happens in real life (sorry for becoming philosophical xD)

Never did I feel that the pacing was way too fast, it was just perfect! There is so much to come because till now it started off with pain, guided us to love and now, is in a place where we are just happy. I will definitely look forward to new chapters! The characters feel like they are your own, their feelings are felt by the readers. There is not much description but that is really the beauty of this book (will explain the technicality). You still can feel the soul of the book, imbibe it in your heart and your emotions are evoked from your core.

Writing style – This is where I'd get technical. I don't think I have ever seen a beautiful omniscient viewpoint writing ever. (This is a writing style where the narrator/writer is ever-knowing or omniscient. It knows what is happening everywhere, and drops everything in front of the reader to judge. The only person who doesn't know what is going on is the character itself). I will still stand by what I said, this is a beautiful piece of writing in this viewpoint. You don't need descriptions; the narration has that power. Nothing whizzes past you; you feel each and everything. Other readers may find this to be very simple or lazy writing but it is actually one of the most difficult viewpoints people write on (no one writes in this anymore btw). Very few sentences may feel a bit too long, so you can try to rephrase them.

There were no grammatical mistakes that I could see nor any faulty sentences. There were some places where the start of your dialogue should have been in uppercase but it wasn't. And, you used single quotations instead of double quotations for your dialogues (though I have experienced that people do that for aesthetic purposes? Idk) Also, a very minor mistake in chapter 9. You accidentally, in the end, wrote 'Emmie' instead of 'Ellie'.

Personal thoughts – I think I have made it pretty clear why I'd love this book. It is a book that shows the truth? The simplicity of this book is what made me love the book even more; it tugged the strings in my heart. And the writing style is definitely one of the best I have seen in this viewpoint. I hope my review brought a smile on your face as your book did to mine :)
