Ellie carried the tray of freshly baked brownies over to Luke's old house and knocked on the front door just like she always used to. Then she suddenly remembered it was not Luke there anymore, so she rang the doorbell.

It took about three minutes for the person to answer and by that time, she was convinced there was nobody in there and was about to head back. But the door she was leaning against opened and she fell in, straight into Luke's arms which was holding a towel to wipe his damp hair.

It took her a few seconds to comprehend what had happened and even more seconds to realise who was holding her. She got off him hurriedly and tried not to stare. For the Luke staring back at her was an even more handsome version of the one she had last seen. His muscles had developed, he was taller and he had a sort of masculine roughness about him. But though Ellie could have easily gotten lost looking in his eyes, she didn't allow herself to. Instead, she just handed him the brownie and looked at him, trying not to show the hurt inside her.

'How long since you came back?' She asked

'Umm...I was going to come over soon-'

'How long,' she demanded.

'A- a month'

'A whole month and you never told me?'

'I-I-'

'Of course you didn't. You forgot. Is that not the case? You forgot. About me. Who you-'

'Of course I did not forget. I just...'

'You just what Luke?'

Ellie turned and leapt over the fence and jogged back home, not daring to believe what had just happened was true. Luke was left staring after her, wondering how the same tongue that used to say his name with such sweetness had rolled it of in such a harsh manner, making him wince.

Ellie ran up to her room, tears clouding her eyes. It was Luke after all. But he was just not the same. The Luke two years ago would have come to visit her the very first day without even a bit of hesitation, enveloping her in a huge hug. This Luke did not even say a proper 'hello'.

Did he really miss her at all?
