  It's Raining Bullets.

     Talia

Gawking had become my new hobby as I drunk in every single movement of Sean. He was such a dangerous enigma that intrigued and mesmerized me and if staring was a job, I would be rich. He shifted his focus from the road to me, without blinking and my cheeks flushed as I quickly averted my gaze away feeling embarrassed.

I could still feel his gaze on me and I pretended to admire the city as we drove through. A truck drove side by side and the bald driver winked causing me to frown. His sidekick, the man next to him stuck out his tongue and licked the middle finger then winked at me and I felt like throwing up. I turned to Sean whose eyes were focused on the road and wondered if he saw that. He decreased the speed and looked at me. Our eyes met for what feels like seconds and once my senses came back I yelled, "Road!" and he smiled as he swerved over the curb avoiding hitting the black car ahead of us.

Sean killed the engine and smiled as he faced me.

"What?" I raise an eyebrow,

"I got distracted by you."

His words made me feel good knowing I had some kind of effect on him.

His arm reached to touch mine and I felt sparks bounding to explode.

Does he feel that?

A phone rang and he fishes it out of his pocket and begins to speak in some foreign language.

"Jebiga!" He yelled as he dipped the phone in his pocket then roared the engine to life and got back on the road.

Minutes later on a two-lane highway, we noticed a black van following us. Moments later another car came from nowhere and pushed ours from the side causing Sean to lose control of the wheel for a moment.

I held my chest, my heart pounding aware of the dreading situation before.

"Marde!" He yelled and tried to evade another hit from the car.

The van from behind was still following us and soon gunshots become the new tune. My heart pounded and I look at my partner who seemed worried.

"Get down!" He yelled as he increased the speed and tried to get away but the car hit his side, making him lose balance once again and I screamed.

Sean got hold of the steering wheel and slowed down causing the vehicle behind to hit our bumper.

Someone from the van behind began shooting and I squatted, placing my head on the seat as I dodged the bullets fired onto our car.

Another bullet fired almost hit Sean but this didn't stop him from driving.

"Are you alright?" He asked and before I could answer a deafening sound of gunfire echoed throughout and I place my arms over my ears not wanting to hear further.

Seconds later, I wonder why we are not moving and I look up to find Sean leaning on the steering wheel and blood oozing.

I trembled inside as tears ran plentiful down on my face while I touched him.

Is this it? Goodbye?

I cried, stuttering, "S- e - a- n", and I got no reaction from him and that's when all the fears I had before flooded my thoughts.

I cried as I held his arm. "I can't lose you too! Sean? I - I"

Footsteps raced by and suddenly I was not afraid of death anymore. I counted seconds as I waited for the attacker whom I spotted, dressed in all black leather-clad, walking our way while carrying a pistol and before he took another step closer to our car, 'Bang!' And I turned to the shooter's direction and smile widely.

"Don't scare me like that!" I told him and I noticed his white shirt was stained with blood on his shoulder.

"You are hurt" I got up, back to my seat.

He said confidently. "Just a scratch!"

Suddenly more shots were fired and he reclined his seat and lay low holding my arm. I realise that we might die at any moment and I decide to convey my feelings.

"Sean? I..."

'Bang!' A bullet pierced through the back of our car and the glass came shattering.

My heart paced as Sean opened his door side and falls to the ground.

I go back to the squatting position.

He yelled, "Stay there!"

Another shot was fired.

Sean was no longer on the same spot and I tried to move but a storm of bullets rained on our car causing me to stay put.

More shots were fired but not on the car this time and I silently hoped Sean was safe.

Silence can be scary sometimes.

When I heard neither movements nor sounds, I slowly moved to his seat to see what's happening. Sean lay on the ground holding a gun on his left arm as he clutched his stomach with the other hand preventing blood from oozing. I quickly raced to him, passing two bodies on the ground.

I reached to him and assessed the bleeding wound.

"This is not good. We have to get you to the nearest hospital"

He shook his head and coughed few times before speaking, "No. Help me up"

Helping an injured person to his feet is hard, especially if he was strong like Sean.

The place that once had bullet tune was now replaced by silence.

Once upon his feet, Sean held on to me as if embracing me.

I opened my mouth to speak, "This is not the ti.." And my sentence was cut off by a shot fired behind my back.

I slowly tilted my head and saw a woman lying on the ground dead with a signature hole on her head.

Again, I was stuttering, "A...she..."

I felt his warm breath fanning my neck as he spoke. "Dead. Let's go"

Even at that moment, Sean still managed to make me nervous.

After helping him onto our car which was decorated with bullet holes all over, I took the wheels, roaring the engine and drove.

Minutes later on the road I hadn't spotted any hospital and I turned to Sean who was still clenching his stomach.

"Sean? Which way?"

"Take the first left turn, off the road"

Although he felt pain, he was good at hiding it.

He fished his phone out and made few calls then told me to stop at the next stage which was Brighton.

I implored. "Please don't die on me"

He was struggling to keep his eyes open and I was helplessly driving the car like a maniac.

I felt a glimmer of hope when he spoke, "That sounds familiar, yeux d'ange,"

I was surprised. "You...remember?"

He stayed silent for few seconds and I pulled up at a gas station in Brighton.

"How can I forget, vrlo si posebna" I arched my brows in confusion while he touched my arm then smiled.

His beautiful eyes held a hidden message that he wanted to convey, "Lia, I..."

A tap on the window cut him off and he smiled at the woman standing there.

She smiled back with vibrant energy and helped him to her red BMW GT parked few inches from our wrecked car.

I followed them and watched the woman insert her finger on his wound and remove a bullet.

Why didn't you think of that?' My inner mind wasn't letting me be.

Sean groaned in pain and lay flat on the back seat as she continued with the first aid.

Whoever the woman was, I could tell he trusted her.

After that, I hopped on at the front, letting Sean rest at the back and she drove off as my mind drifted to the people who ambushed us and nearly killed Sean.

I was determined to get answers from him once he woke up. I had a feeling I wouldn't like the story behind it.
