"Where on earth is Mango?" Cobra muttered. "She's been gone for three hours. Mango should've been back an hour ago." Spark shrugged. Mango had stayed back just to get Hope and Peacemaker out. "Is that her?" Vortex asked, pointing at the sky. There seemed to be an ice dragon approaching. But then the dragon flashed her scales yellow and they knew it was Mango. Hope and Peacemaker were right behind her, shivering. "It's really cold," Peacemaker protested as they landed. "But safe," Hope replied. They found a series of small caves where they could rest for the night. The sky was growing dark. Each cave had room for two dragons. The pairings were: Ripple and Cobra, Hope and Peacemaker, Spark and Vortex, and Moss and Mango. Each dragon slept well that night.

Not too far away, Bluedancer had brought about twenty NightWings to the IceWing border. She had already figured out that her former friends would've hid in the Ice Kingdom. This worked in her favor, as NightWings already hated IceWings and now they were sheltering murderers. By looking around, Bluedancer could tell the NightWings were ready. Every dragon was growling and snarling. Bluedancer had already given orders that if one dragon from the Diamond Winglet left, it was to be captured immediately. "Where are you, guys?" Bluedancer muttered under her breath. "Come out wherever you are."

After a few days, Moss felt penned up. He decided to pass the border and get some prey that wasn't frozen food.
