Chapter Thirty Nine

A/N: I hope from here on isn't too boring or too, like.... doesn't drag on too long because I can't write good fight scenes/battles to save my life or anybody else's so...

I apologize for anything you're going to read from here on out.

Dain's army parted easily for them, Dain shouting to his men, "TO THE KING! TO THE KING!"

Thorin raised his sword, "Du Bekâr!"

Kali raised hers as well, shouting the correct response to the battle cry, though both she and I are sure no one else did (as they were yelling wordlessly), "Khayamu!

The Company was an arrow point, slicing through orcs as easily as a blade through grass. Kali hadn't been able to look back so see if the army had followed, but from her peripheral vision it seemed as if they had. Even if she could turn around, her priorities were elsewhere, focusing only on the task at hand.

Kali was advancing through the horde of enemies so quickly that she'd lost sight of the other familiar dwarves. She blocked the oncoming hit of an orcish sword and spun away. The backhand of that spin let her get a killing blow and she paused for a breather between orcs that chose to come at her.

The break was a severely brief one that lasted only a second and soon she was forced to raise her sword once more, something she was somewhat glad to do. All the pent up emotions that Kali had held throughout the years went into her swordsmanship, cutting down enemies for Rilrond's unneeded death, to avenge her mother, her broken life. She yelled out in anger and knocked an orc's legs out from under him, stabbing her sword straight through it's skull.

Orc after orc Kali's swordsmanship became better. Her size was a slight disadvantage, as she was taller than the other dwarves, which made her an easier target. But in some instances it was an advantage, allowing her to drive her blade between the eyes of some.

However, as said before, her height worked against her. If she wasn't quick enough (which was more often than not) her arm was cut by the backswing of a sword. Once, when she was parrying excellently with an orc, another snuck up from behind and ran her far left side through. The pain quickly turned to adrenaline and she dispatched both orcs with only a few extra cuts.

This was how it went and it went fairly smoothly until an arrow had made it's way through her upper right shoulder. Kali recoiled, but didn't fall. She pulled it out and checked to make sure the arrowhead was still attacked before throwing it aside, just as a team of six rams nearly ran her down, "Watch it!"

"Kali, get on!" Dwalin snapped, cranking a lever on a high-powered crossbow. It was mounted on the front of the steel cart he, Balin, Fili and Kili rode in, and it shot wooden stakes and not arrow.

Kali didn't hesitate. Cutting down orcs who were able to break through some Ironhill dwarves to get close enough, she hoisted herself in the back by Kili, "Onward!"

Balin was driving, which was something she didn't know he could do. He cracked the reins and the large rams burst into action. With the cart, Kali found out, it was much easier to get a direct hit to your enemy.

A/N: I did it again, dammit.... Sorry I'm absolutely horrible at timing things out.
