29. Yep

"Riley you idiot!" Margot yelled, jiggling the handle up and down for the millionth time.

By now I had given up and started exploring the storage room. I had found an old English helmet and had put it on my head.

Margot turned to look at me, she was not amused!

"Ugh I knew we shouldn't have done this, I knew it! " She started traipsing up and down the room, "But I let you talk me into it." She face palmed herself, "Stupid, stupid, stupid!"

I picked up a giant rifle and aimed it the door. "How about we shoot our way out!"

"Riley this is no time for jokes!"

I felt bad, she was getting really worked up. I put the rifle back in the corner and walked over to her.

"Okay, okay," I said trying to reassure her. "I don't suppose you have a phone on you?"

"No." She sighed. "Mrs Dawnson took them in when we started the tour."

I bit my lip, "Same."

"Great! So we're trapped in a room, no one knows where we are! With no phones and no way of getting out!"

"Margot. Calm down." I placed my hands on her shoulders and looked her in the eyes. "They'll find us, they can't leave without us. It might take some time-" She groaned, "-but! At least we have each other."

"Fine," She said, still not removing the scowl from her face. "Take off that stupid helmet!" I obliged.

She turned around, walked back to the door and sat right in front of it! Her arms crossed and her back towards me.

"I am NOT moving from this spot!"

I shrugged, "Alright then."

Margot could be in a mood, but I was not going to let the chance of exploring ancient relics pass me by!

¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥

It had been about 45 minutes and Margot was still refusing to talk to me. I was also starting to get anxious. The students must of eaten lunch by now and that meant only about another hour before they left.

I was certain that they couldnt leave us!

Pretty certain.

I busied my self by looking at the wall full of maps during the war. I kept looking over my shoulder at Margot who still sat directly opposite the door with her arms crossed.

Her silence was killing me.

"So Sabrina," I tried to slide into conversation. "I've decided I don't like her."

No answer.

"Where did she come from? The Royal Academy of Snooty Princesses?"

No answer.

"She thinks highly of herself is all I'm saying."

Still no answer. Margot was either playing this out or she was seriously mad.

For my sake I hoped she wasn't actually angry.

I decided to press harder.

"You know why I like you Margot?" I glanced at her, she was looking in my direction. Good. I had her attention.

"You're head strong, you don't let people easily influence you.... An example would be this, this situation right here." A small smile crept onto her lips, good she wasn't truely mad.

I continued, "So I can't help but wonder... why you act so differently when you're with Sabrina?"

No answer.

"Like today, you changed completely when she approached? " I looked ernestly in her direction, she refused to look at me. "Your voice... Your mannerisms..."

"What do you mean?" She muttered.

Ha! I'd broken her.

"So you're talking to me now?" I folded my arms indignantly.

Margot sighed deeply, she got up off the floor and walked over to me.

"What do you mean I act differently around Sabrina?" She asked again ignoring my remark.

Why was she beating around the bush! She knew what I meant.

"Margot," I chose my words carefully. "Why are you forcing yourself to be her friend? You know she's rotten? Why are you hanging out with her?"

Margot waited for a long time before saying anything. Eventually she met my gaze.

"Okay, yes," She admitted, "You're right, I don't like Sabrina and I don't like pretending to be her friend."

"Okay... So then why do y-"

"Because my friends love her okay! I don't know why, but they all seem to suck up to her. And I don't want to make a nuisance of myself and be a bitch to poor Sabrina the new girl!"

I nodded. "So you suck up to her too."

"Yes, well not so much suck up to as in... tolerate her."

"Alright that makes sense. You don't want to make an enemy of the new girl and become an outcast to your friends. I can understand that."

She smiled. "Thank you."

"But then I have to ask why you alienate me when you're around her!"

Don't think I hadn't noticed. Margot had acted as if we weren't a couple at all.

Her eyes grew wide.

"Margot I'm not dumb! I read the signs. You let go of my hands the moment Sabrina arrived and you cut me off when I almost told her you were my girlfriend." I folded my arms. "What's up with that!? Are you ashamed of me, are you ashamed to tell Sabrina of us!"

This concept really hurt me.

"No! NO! Riley not at all!" Margot exclaimed clutching my hand. I motioned to her to explain herself.

She looked down at the ground for a few moments and let go of my hand.

"It's just," She moved back, "Sabrina is really... judgemental."

"So she's homophobic?"

"No..." I gave her a hard look, "Well maybe, I don't know. BUT-" She said quickly, "I'm not ashamed of us."

I raised my eyebrows, not believing her.

"I swear I'm not! I have told everyone I love and care about you and how I feel about you. Just not.... Sabrina!"

"Why do you care so much what Sabrina thinks!" I exclaimed, folding my arms.

"Listen Riley," She moved closer and placed a hand on my cheek, "Sabrina is a controlling, vendictive, manipulative person. I've seen her mess around with some of my others friends lives and relationships." She ran her hand down my cheek, looking into my eyes. "I just don't want her to interfere with us."

I sighed and placed my hand on hers, I understood where she was coming from. And it touched me to know how precious this relationship was to her.

I took her hand from my face and kissed it. "Okay." I said. "I'm glad you explained it to me." I placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "And I won't pressure you into telling her, or anyone for that matter."

She grinned at me, "I don't deserve you."
She pecked me on the lips.

"Hey what's that?" I moved around Margot and across the room. I had just noticed something.

Behind an empty row of shelves, was a door. I pushed aside the shelves, and moved the clutter next to it, exposing the door.

"Well would you look at that!" I wondered where it led.

Margot was hardly satisfied, "the chances of that door opening are close to zer-"

I pressed down the handle, and the door swung inwards!

It opened onto a long dimly lit corridor.

I looked expectingly at Margot, "What was that you were saying Miss Saunders?"

Margot gave me an indignant look.

"There's no way I'm going through there!"

I sighed. I didn't have much energy to compete with her now.

"Margot I-"

"I told you I'm not leaving this room!"

"I hate it when you get stubborn like this." I watched her move back to sit in front of the blue door.

"The last time you opened a door and took me inside, you got us trapped! Now you just expect me to follow you happily through there!"

"Yah basically." I nodded, she rolled her eyes. "Well either you can stay in here and just hope that someone finds you before the school bus leaves... Which is in like-" I pretend to check an imaginary watch on my wrist, "-I don't know maybe twenty minutes, possibly less. OR we could use this corridor and find our own way out, possibly before we get in huge amounts of trouble."

She didn't reply.

"It's up to you I guess, but I'm not waiting in here any longer!"

I moved towards the door and entered the corridor. I was serious, I was tired and hungry and I couldn't stand to be in that room one bit longer.

I started making my way down the corridor.

"Wait!" I heard Margot shout from behind me. I smiled as she rushed into the passageway.

She took a hold of my arm.

"I swear Riley if this gets us even more lost!"

"Don't you trust me m-lady?"

She groaned and through gritted teeth said,

"Just walk."

¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥

We walked down to the end of the corridor, it split in two.

Margot sighed deeply. She looked at me, "Now what!"

"This way!" I took her arm and dragged her down the left side of the passageway.

The truth is, I had no idea where I was going. But I was hoping that there'd be a sign or something.

We had walked down the corridor for about two minutes before we came to a wall.

"Ah great!" Margot breathed exasperated, yanking her arm out of my hand. "Look at that! Tour guide Riley has bought us to a dead end. How unexpected!" She glowered at me.

My heart rate was beginning to quicken before I noticed something out of the corner of my eye.

I wiggled a finger in Margot's face. "Uh Uh Uh. What's this then?"

Margot looked down. On the right side of us, low down, was a door handle.

I pressed down the handle and enthusiastically flung open the door! Bursting into a study!

Almost immediately alarms went off! Ear splitting sirens wailing throughout the building!

It barely took a second before an officer stormed into the study! He yelled at us and surged forward!
Margot and I stood rooted to the spot!

For a second I thought about abandoning Margot and sprinting back up the corridor!

I internally kicked myself for having such cowardly thoughts.

Instead we allowed the huge burley security guard to take us both by the arms and drag us out of the room.

I felt a wave of dismay as we got pulled towards the large group of history students waiting in the foyer of the museum.

We got infuriated, sulky looks from the students. One guy even made a point of furiously tapping his watch at me.

The security guard did not drop us off with the rest of the students like I had hoped. Instead he continued passed them, Sabrina Radford smiled ingeniously and gave us a little flutter of her fingers, I ignored her.

We were taken into another office next to the reception. The officer finally released us, I rubbed my hand against my arm trying to get some blood circulation again.

The lady at the desk gave us a withering look over her rectangular glasses.
Then Mrs Dawnson stepped into the room.

With a sinking feeling in my stomach I prepared myself for what was seemingly going to be...

Alot of fun!
