28. Museums And Mutiny

"Oof!" I grouched, as the bus jolted over another speed bump.
I clung onto the seat in front of me, to avoid falling into the isle.

I watched as a few of my peanuts lept out of the bag I was clutching and clattered to the floor.

"Dammit." I groaned, as they rolled down the bus.

"This driver really needs to slow down!" Exclaimed my friend Georgie from the seat next to me. She was pale faced and wide eyed as she grasped onto the seat in front of her.

Finally after a few more excruciating minutes of being jolted around the bus like popcorn in a pot, we grinded to a hault. In front of the National War Museum!

I sighed, already wishing this trip was over.
Mrs Dawnson rose from the front seats of the bus and told us to gather our bags and quickly get off the bus as we were late.

I shot to my feet, hoping to grab a glimpse of Margot's head.
I had been late leaving the house this morning so I hadn't been able to sit with Margot on the bus like we'd planned.

I spotted her ponytail, she was sitting towards the front of the bus with a couple of her friends.

I snatched up my bag off the floor, shoved the bag of left over peanuts inside, and moved to make my way towards Margot.

"Riley, wait a minute I -"

"Sorry Georgie!" I said holding my bag above my head and squeezing through people in the isle. "- going to Margot."

I didn't turn around to see the irritation on Georgie's face as I bustled my way towards Margot.

I grabbed her arm just as she got up to make her way off the bus. She turned around, startled, but calmed down when she saw it was me.

We slid back down into the seats to let other people pass.

"Good morning m-lady." I smiled at her.

She smiled and rolled her eyes, but then a look of annoyance came across her face.

"You we're late!" She punched me in the arm.

"I know, I'm sorry! But the ride wasn't too long." I said rubbing my arm, "A bit ruff though - think I got whiplash." I placed my hand on the back of my neck and clicked it.

She raised an unsympathetic eyebrow at me. "Well I was forced to sit next to Sabrina Radford." She sighed in annoyance.

"Who's that?"

Margot's eyes grew huge in shock. "You don't know who Sabrina is!"

I shook my head.

"- Riley! Margot!" Mrs Dawnson's pudgy face loomed above us. "Mind getting off the bus!" She hissed in her shrill voice, "We have a tour we'd like to start!"

We shot up out of the seats. "Sorry!" Margot apologized quickly as we ducked passed her and hopped off the bus.

Everyone was waiting outside in the museum courtyard. We moved to join the rest of the students.

As we made our way Margot whispered, "Sabrina, is only one of the most popular girls in our year. How do you not know of her!" I shrugged. "Well recently popular, she's only been here couple of months and everyone seems to be obsessed with he-"

"Yes well I had been rather distracted the last couple of months." I arched a smug eyebrow at Margot.

She scoffed at my remark. I grinned

"- anyway. Sabrina is a rather... Special human being..."

"Ahhh I see." We had made it to the rest of the students. Mrs Dawnson stood on the museum steps with a roster shoved under her armpit.

After a couple of minutes of trying to get all the history students to be quiet she pulled the folder out from under her arm.

"Right!" She yelled, "Since we have bought a rather large group here today we're going to have to split you into groups." There was a murmur of dissatisfaction from the disgruntled students.

Margot intertwined her hand with mine, I squeezed it softly. I didn't mind if we were in groups as long as I got be with her.

Mrs Dawnson's voice cut above the crowd.
"To make this as quick as possible! We'll put you in groups according to alphabetical order!"

My heart sank.

Alphabetical order! This field trip was already boring enough without me having to hang out with a bunch of moody punks who just so happen to fall into the same surname category as me.

Alphabetical order was for children in kindergarten!

I looked at Margot in dismay. There was no way we'd be in the same group.
Margot was scowling up at Mrs Dawnson on the stairs.

"A to H - over there with Dr Hansen." Mrs Dawnson pointed to a spot in the courtyard. "I to P - over here to the left with Miss Jennings." I looked begrudgingly over to my assigned spot, I let out a sigh. "-The rest of you - here! With me!"

The students disppersed reluctantly to their groups.
I looked back at Margot.

"I guess I'll see you back on the bus?"

She sighed and took my other hand in hers. "I think-"

"Margot! Looks like we're in the same group, yey!"

I turned to see a tall girl with strawberry blonde hair shashaying towards us.

Margot dropped my hands like they were hot coals!

She turned to face the girl, "Sabrina!" she said in a high voice with a grin plastered on her face.

I looked at Sabrina. If it wasn't for her long nose, big lips, slim face with high cheekbones, that made her long like she was permanently pulling the duck face - some may have said she was quite pretty. In an artificial sense.

I frowned at Margot, confused. Why was she acting so strangely?

Sabrina placed a lazy hand on her hip, "Lame that we have to be in groups though." She rolled her eyes like she had been asked to do community service. I immediately didn't like this girl.

"Yes... it is." Margot's smile had faded now and I could tell she was trying her best not to sound annoyed.

I coughed, loudly.

Sabrina had acted as if I was invisible. But suddenly she seemed to "realize" I was there.

"Oh hello!" She stuck out her hand. "Sorry, I'm Sabrina, and you are?"

"Riley." I forced a smile as I shook her porcelain-like hand. She shook my hand quickly, as if she didn't want to embrace it for too long.

I made a point of wiping my hand against my pants.
I'd heard bitchyness was contagious.

"Yeah," I continued, "I'm Margot's gir-"

"Riley!" Margot cut me off, I snapped my head to look at her, slightly annoyed that she'd cut me off.
"I think you need to join your group now." She jabbed a thumb in the direction of my group. They were starting to move away.

"Alright." I nodded and moved away but not before I gave her a disapproving look.

I didn't like the way she was acting.

Why would Margot even befriend someone like Sabrina!?
To be fair she had said Sabrina was "special", but still.

When it came to Margot's friends I hadn't really engaged myself with them yet, now that we were together I planned to get to know them better. But if they were anything like Sabrina I was going to stay far away.

I sighed heavily as I dragged my feet along behind the rest of the group.
It had been two hours and I was very much ready to leave this place.

We were now standing in a room full of militant aircrafts, used in World War II.
It was all very impressive, but there was about to be a World War III in my stomach if I didn't eat something soon!

Slowly I slipped my backpack off my back and dug inside. I pulled out the packet of peanuts and stuffed a handful into my mouth.

"Hey!" Georgie hissed from my side. "They said no eating!"

I sighed. Did Geogie's surname really have to be Miller!
I gave her a - are you really trying to be difficult look - then shoved the peanuts back into the bag.

Our group made its way out of the aircraft wing into a smaller room. This contained glass cabinets of uniforms worn by soldiers and letters written during the war.

I was just glancing at a pair of war boots when I heard a familiar voice.
"-imagine having to carry that during war! It's amazing how they managed to do-"

I looked up, and across the room, over the glass cabinet, I could make out Margot's group. Margot was standing at the back, taking to a tall guy with glasses.

I watched the group for a few seconds. Then as they moved on to the next room I wound my way around the glass cabinets, and followed Margot's group out of the room.

I knew that if Miss Jennings found out that I was gone she'd have a fit. But I didn't care about that now.

I caught up to the group and followed behind for a little while. Then I spotted a blue door to the right, it was ajar. I looked around me, the coast was clear.

Then quickly I walked up behind Margot and wrapped my arms around her waist. She let out a gasp.

"Riley what are you doing!"

"Hey." I let go of her waist and took her hand. "Come with me." I tried to pull her away from the group but she stubbornly resisted.

"Ugh Come on Margot!" I begged. We needed to be quick before my group came through the door from the previous room.

Margot's group began to move on. I looked pleadingly at her.

"Riley!" She protested but then she let me drag her across the room to the door. "It says STAFF ONLY!" I ignored her and pushed open the door.

Once the door had closed behind us, Margot turned on me!

"Riley what are you doing!" she marched up to me, I took a step back, my back pressing against the door.

"I don't know," I gulped. "But this is fun isn't it?"

"No this is not fun! Do you have any idea how much trouble we'd be in if we got caught!"

"Then let's not get caught." I said smugly.

Margot's sharp green eyes glared at me, she was not impressed.

"Fine," I gave in. I placed my hand on the door handle, "If you really want we can go back and join the group...." I gave her a questioning look.

She glared at me for a few more seconds then gave in.

"Alright." She breathed and unfolded her arms. She looked around,
"What is this place anyway?"

"I don't know," I moved around her, "some type of storage room I guess. Like you can see posters over there and old helmets in the corn-"

I let out a sudden yelp in surprise as Margot yanked the back of my jacket! She slammed me up against the door! Grabbed my collar in her hands and smashed our lips together!

After a few seconds she pulled back and frowned at me.

"What?" I asked puzzled.

"You taste like peanuts..."

"Oh." I could feel a slight blush on my cheeks.

Margot smiled. "Good thing I like peanuts." She closed her eyes and brought our lips back together.

Instantly I reciprocated as our mouths moved in sync and she threaded her fingers through my hair.
I tension was incredible! I grabbed her by the waist, swung around, and pressed her against the door!

A surge of engery rushed through me. I placed my hands under her upper legs and lifted her up against the door.

Margot responded eagerly! Clutching the sides of my face, her tounge moving rhythmically with mine!

Excitedly she bit my bottom lip and dragged it out towards her. I began lifting up her shirt, and pulled it right off her head.

Then I disconnected my lips from hers and placed a series of kisses along her neck! Margot let out a gasp as I moved down along her chest to just above her breasts.

I cupped right breast in my hand. I waited, toying with the lining fabric of her bra. Would she want us to go further?

She met my eyes and we gazed at each other for a few seconds.

"Not here." She finally whispered.

I could tell it took alot of strength for her her not to give in. Even I had to control the searing energy inside of me.

I nodded and let go of her bra. We connected our lips once again.

This kiss was slow and long. It put my mind at ease, and I was able to calm my hammering heart and slow down the tension.

Then we broke away.

Margot's face was flushed and her lips plump but her eyes were sparkling.
I gazed down and her, my chest rising and falling.

No one made me feel the way she did, one day I wanted to give my whole self to her.

Margot placed her hand on the back of my neck. We pressed our foreheads together.

I could feel her soft breathes against my lips.

"I love you." she whispered.

"I love you." I ran a hand down the side of her face, "You're beautiful." I replied.

I placed a soft kiss of her forehead.

Margot breathed and broke away, coming back to the present. "I guess we should head back to the school tour."

I groaned. "Yes we probably should... But first... You should probably put your shirt back on." I arched a pompous brow.

She scolwed at me. "Oh gee thanks for that advice."

I chuckled and Margot bent down, picked up her shirt and slid it on.

I moved to the door to let us out.
But when I grabbed the handle it wouldn't budge!
I pulled down the handle repeatedly. It wouldn't open.

Reluctantly I turned to face Margot.

"It won't open." I mumbled.

"Move aside!" She pushed passed me , "You're just doing it wrong!" She tried the handle. But to no avail.

We were locked in from the outside!
