Dragons For Dummies
I am so fucking sorry for not updating in literal months but I'm back with an update, with all honesty I did not think I would finish. Now pre warning I know like shit all to do with dragons, I completely bullshitted this so, there will defiantly be shit wrong in this but do say anything if there is something that is so outstandingly wrong is annoying. Thank you. (• ε •)
After finally detaching himself from the oversized lizard with abandonment issues, Katsuki made his way back down the mountain. It was certainly one of his more relaxed/weirder mornings. Bakugou had spent the time using Kiri as a large scaly pillow, feeling bizarrely comfortable in this strange arrangement he'd found himself in. Eijiro just continued sniffing round the empty container of food the whole time. Seeing if he could get anything else out of it. Then when it was finally time for the male to leave Kiri grew very unhappy. He did his usual of, pouncing on him, secreting his scent all over the blond trying to leave his company. Then begin to chirp with over excitement and just overall refuse to let the blond go. The hardest thing was trying to get him to stay in the cave. Even with his serious injuries Kirishima kept trying to follow Bakugou down the mountain. Though after too long he managed to get it into the red dragons thick scull to wait till he got back. Even with the setbacks Bakugou managed make his way back to the car with more than enough time to meet up with Momo.
Driving down the narrow, almost deserted back roads of the Japanese countryside. Roads the blond was slowly becoming very accustomed with. Especially now he had to commute back and forth for Kirishima. Traffic was rough as he entered back into the city, everyone rushing to get to work. Bustling roads filled with stressed, tired drives all trying to get to where they needed to be. All this was instigating the violent road rage within Bakugou. Yelling obscene, colourful fraises and pulling the finger to anyone who cut him off, drove too slowly, or just anytime he deemed it fit. After nearly ramming his silver Prius into the back of some bloke's car when the man had the impromptu idea of pulling out in front of him. Bakugou finally made it to the quaint little café, where he'd planned to meet Momo. Conveniently within walking distance of Eraser.
'Ding' A small bell went off to signal he'd entered the café. An overly friendly barista grinned enthusiastic at the blond as he just walked past them with out even a side glance.
"Good morning sir! Can I get you anything today?" They asked politely, Bakugou clicked his tongue. Grumbling out the words 'large expresso' before paying. The barista shifting awkwardly at the unsavoury attituded of their customer, moving from one foot to the other. As he waited for his coffee Katsuki looked round the café for Momo and no surprise to him she was already there. She had chosen a lager table so she could spread out all the findings she'd uncovered about dragons. Taking his coffee without a thank you Bakugou walked over to Momo.
"Oh, Bakugou, morning," she smiled warmly, the blond nodded in response. Placing his drink on the table before sitting down, his eyes widened at the sheer amount of research she had brought with her. Quickly noticing the others' startled reaction Momo chuckled. "Don't worry a lot of these documents and articles are practically repeats, they just help further certify each other." She reassured. "Anyway, I ended up finding quite a few things on dragons, is there anything specific on the topic you're particularly interested in? Or do you just want me to go over it all?"
"Yeah, not really just go over the main things," Bakugou responded a little startled by her enthusiasm, but quietly touched and impressed she'd made the effort.
"Ok well first of, dragons have been a part of history and myths for centuries. Only up until the late 1800 did people actually discover evidence about the creatures, remains and scales were uncovered on the peaks of mountains all over the world. Things are still being uncover about them now; they're heavily sort after and hunted for their scales." Momo explained, flicking through varus folders and pieces of paper. Bakugou nodding every now and then to show he was listening, sipping spontaneously at his coffee. When Momo brought up the fact that dragons are being hunted Bakugou's body tensed slightly.
"What do you mean they're hunted for their scales?" The blond asked abruptly.
"Well, it says... umm... ah right here that in the early 40s, a colony of ice dragons were found residing on the peaks of the alps." Momo stared to explain, rummaging through her notes to find the right article to show Bakugou. "Then due to the fact that the creatures weren't protected under any animal rights acts, not that there were many back then," she added on. "The family of dragons were all captured by trappers. They were then killed for their scales and horns or sold for experiments to work out what these creatures were and how they worked. Now a days if you find a dragon they go for extortionate prices." The raven hair woman finished explaining by showing a picture of the group of dragons all tide up like trophies. The image made Bakugou sick as his mind turned to Kirishima in these circumstances. "Though non have been found in reason years." She added.
Taking the old news article from Momo Bakugou briefly read over it looking back up at the terrified eyes of the dragons, captured in black and white. Not really knowing what to say the usually fiery blond seemed really subdued. "Hey you ok?" Momo asked looking over at male across from her.
"Yes. I'm fine," Bakugou snapped, causing Momo to flinch slightly. "Just continue."
"Oh, um right... Well, there isn't much on what dragons actually are or where they're came from, but most of my sources believe they descend from the birds that survived the cretaceous period." The disgruntled Momo continued, "then over the centuries some birds evolved into the birds we know now, and other, larger birds evolved into dragons. Some even say they descended from the T. rex, due to the fact that we haven't found a full T. rex skeleton and their bones were hollow like birds." She stated opening up a small folder named, 'Were Dragons' Dinosaurs?' Bakugou honestly couldn't give a single fuck about this but he still listened out of courtesy for her doing all this.
Without hearing any input from Bakugou Momo decided to move on the last segment of her research. Moving on to another thicker folder, label 'characteristics and differences within dragons. "Though much like wolfs there are alphas and omegas or betas, depending on what source you look at. Its very easy to tell the difference between alphas and omegas, alphas are substantially bigger than omegas standing around 15-20 ft. They also have large thick horns and or a spine of spikes that protrude down their back. Unlike omegas who are smaller, standing around 9-12 ft. They also have no large spikes or horns; their scales are usually sleek like geckos or skinks." As Momo explained key differences between the two she showed Bakugou two diagrams, and it was undeniable. Kirishima was an alpha. The diagram showing the alpha was almost the spitting image of Kiri. Though this dragon had a different colour scheme and differently shaped horns and spikes. "Oh and alphas have very strong scents, omegas also have scents but there's are usually weaker and sweeter and only really come out during there heats."
"yeah, that's unsurprising," Bakugou murmerd under his breather, referring back to the numerous times he'd been scented by Kirishima, the strong scent usually lingered on his clothes for far to long.
"what?" Momo responded, looking up from her notes.
"Nothing, continue."
"Ok, um well omegas and alphas go through annual ruts and heats, were they extensively have the need and urge to bread or be bread by their life partners. This can last for 3-4 days whereby the end the omega is hopefully pregnant." Bakugou felt a little uncomfortable by the sexual shift in conversation, Momo didn't look to enthused by what she was saying either. Though one thing that stuck out to Bakugou was.
"Um what as a life partner?" the blond spoke up.
"Oh well dragons', like many birds and other species, mate for life. Once they have bonded in soul and body, they're with that partner for the rest of their lives. Once they meet this partner, it says they know almost immediately and can grow great distress from being away from their partners for long periods of time." She explained, Bakugou nodding in response, downing the last of his drink. Dragons are incredibly emotional and family-oriented creatures, they hate being alone and thrive in family packs, much like wolves." Bakugou's mind, which granted was already flooded with images of his large scaly companion just couldn't help drawing striking comparisons between the things Momo said and Kirishima. The scarlet dragon was incredibly emotional and hated being left alone, which made him feel sort of bad for leaving him alone for so long.
"Excuse me sir, are you finished with this?" A friendly waiter asked, smiling warmly, gesturing to the empty coffee cup.
"Uh yeah sure," Bakugou replied slowly barely looking up at him. As the waiter took away their cups Momo began to clear away all the documents, neatly placing them back in her folder. She smiled up at the waiter and thanked him for clearing away there used dishes.
"lastly dragons grow very fast and strong bonds, the alpha and omega know almost immediately who their life partners are within the first few minutes of meeting them." Katsuki spaced out slightly at Momo's words, wondering if Eijiro had his own life partner he was separated from. The idea of the red dragon having such a connection with someone else, or not having him around when he was healed awoke a strange emotion. It wasn't his normal rage, though it was some type of anger but swirled in with the feeling of insecurity, disgust and a slight fear of inadequacy towards Kirishima's herd and possible life partner. He hated that he felt like this, this stupid dragon he'd know barely a week was making him feel like such an idiot, he'd never been like this towards anyone or anything, not even childhood pets.
Soon Momo snapped him out of his daze, slowly waving a hand in front of his face to garner his attention, "our shift starts in about 10 minutes, do you wanna head over?"
"Yeah, sure," the slightly preoccupied male respond, pushing out of his seat, making an awful screeching sound as it dragged along the floor causing the two to wince at the noise. Momo waved a thank you to the employees as she followed behind Bakugou, carrying her multiple folders.
"Hey, I didn't want to prey, but why do you want to know so much about dragons?" Momo inquired, throwing all her shit into the back of her cute little Suzuki.
"I was just intrigued," Katsuki lied, not even looking back at Momo. "Bu thanks it was helpful," he said genuinely, raising his hand up to wave her goodbye. Momo responding cheerfully, knowing he was lying but not wanting to push. The two drove separately to work and neither spoke any further on the topic. The shift went smoothly, much more efficient on Bakugou's front, moving swiftly around the kitchen, trying to rap things up as soon as possible.
As his shift came to an end Bakugou wasted no time in getting out of the building as soon as possible. Which was not normal behaviour to the other staff. The blond was growing a slight annoying worry for the clingy oversized dragon, so on the way home he stopped of at a few convenient stores and supermarkets to pick up some supplies. With everything he needed all safely loaded up he made his way back to Kiri.
Parking in the always deserted gravel parking lot, Bakugou took a torch and his things making his way up the much more convenient, lest noticeable track. Leading right to the sheltered cave. As he grew closer and his light shined over to the cave entrance a familiar flash of red came lumbering out of the cave, swiftly poncing on the blond with his bags of things. Kiri did his normal of secreteting his scent over the male, chirping with happiness to see his companion back with him.
"Fuck off me you fat lizard," Bakugou mumbled from under the alpha dragon. After finally freeing himself he stood up dusting the dirt off his pants, "you know this whole pouncing on me shit is getting really fucking old." He huffed, retrieving the contents of the bag which Kiri had already become incredibly intrigued with. Sniffing his snout into the bag with all the food, trying to get it out to eat before the blond meanly took it away from him. "Just wait a minute, I'll feed you in a sec," Katsuki grumbled as he carried all the things into the cave.
"Right, first thing we need in a light source and that's your job," Bakugou said pointing to the dragon who sat down next to him, not really understanding what he was supposed to do but enjoying the company nun the less. Dragging dried wood that he found in the cave into a large piled over the pre-existing fire pit from the other night. Turning back to the dragon who had done nothing to help but watch the male drag wood to make another fire pit. "Oi, you lazy bastard, light this on fire," he stated, gesturing over to the heap of dried wood he'd collected. Kiri cocked his head slightly as to not understand the blond, who just rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Right fine."
Pulling a small black lighter out of his pocket, Katsuki grazed his thumb over the spark wheel and safety guard creating a small chain reaction concluding in a small orangey flame. "Use your fired to light this," Bakugou spoke out slowly making gestures to go with his words to better communicate. Moving between him, the lighter and the makeshift bonfire. As Bakugou was doing his explanation Kiri quickly blew a soft flame into the heap of wood creating an insignificant fire which soon caught on a created a nice illuminant bonfire. "Finally," the blond said in annoyance, dragging all the bags over and sitting down in front of the flames, soon to be accompanied by his large, scaled companion.
With very little patience, Kiri began sniffing all over Bakugou and his bags of goodies, "fuck sakes, wait you meat head," Katsuki groaned, pushing the large scaled face away from him. In the contents of the first bag was multiple big cuts of stake fillets, a few cuts of chicken and some fish, all raw. Kirishima was highly intrigued by these items trying to snatch them up from Bakugou, who gave up and just let him have at his feast. The dragon hadn't had a large meal since he'd been inured so Katsuki spoiled him a bit.
As he scoffed down his food bakugou emptied the condense of another bag, that was filled with medical supplies. As the distracted dragon ate, the blond, with thousands of yen worth of supplies properly tended to the lizard's wounds, extra carefully dressing each wound. Now with fancy expensive stitching tools the male set to work on the dragon's wing, closing the large tear with such precision and accuracy. Which was very impressive considering how much the dragon complained and writhed under the pain. After he was all finished the blond let out a sigh of relief.
"Well done you did it, what a cleaver boy," Bakugou said in an incredibly condescending tone, which Kiri didn't pick up on, all he got was the happy, fake excited tones he was receiving from his Bakugou. So, he just got excited. The last thing the blond had brought, he'd contemplated not even giving Kiri was a large, 80cm plush dragon. The colour scheme was sandy blond "scales" with black, green and orange detailing. As the slightly bashful blond pulled it out, feeling embarrassed and stupid for even buying it, placed it down beside him. His idea was to get Kiri something to kind of keep him company when he wasn't around. His best idea was a dragon to make him feel more at home.
Not expecting any sort of reaction from the dragon Bakugou was utterly surprised by how quickly Kiri took to the plush. Cautiously sniffing it at first before picking up on Bakugou's soft fiery scent on the toy and seeing a likeness between the blond and the stuffed dragon, Kiri took an immediate liking to it, placing it between his legs protectively. Bakugou smirked leaning against the stomach of the dragon, feeling his deep and heavy breaths, raising him up and down. Feeling a small smile creep over his face as he looked at how happy Kiri was his new toy. Cuddling it protectively. Katsuki stared mindlessly into the orangey flame, feeling so at peace. Bakugou felt more comfortable here, sitting on the cold, dirt floor with Kiri than he ever did in his own home. Eijiro's breathing along with the warmth from his scales and the fire, very swiftly sent the peaceful blond into a deep slumber.
