On Ice Once More (Part two)

The minute Otabek got off the flight, he rushed off to the hospital which Yuri was currently at. He wasted not a single second and had never felt so helpless before as he watched the clock tick by and yet, he wasn't by Yuri's side. In that little spare time he had, he thought about how to break the news to him. He knew that Yuri isn't going to take this well and that his whole world would be crushed. After all, he dedicated his whole life up till now just for figure skating. It's going to be such a bitch...

The taxi that Otabek was on finally came to a halt, Otabek didn't even bother finishing listening to what the driver said and threw 2000 ruble at him. Thank god for his previous trips to Russian that he still had some of Russian currency left.

Otabek nearly ran on the first floor of the hospital but suddenly stopped and took two steps back. There was a florist right there and Otabek decided that Yuri would surely like some fresh flowers.

~

Viktor stood outside the ward waiting impatiently for Otabek to come quickly, Yuri had just woken up although he seemed to be still out of it, he knew Yuri would be able to know that something was amiss quickly. Hearing footsteps, Viktor turned around and finally saw Otabek. Otabek was all sweaty from running and was panting heavily. Viktor told him to calm down first before going in to see Yuri. Viktor told Otabek everything, from how he got into an accident to his condition and now he woke up. Otabek shook Viktor's hand off his shoulder and opened the door.

In front of him, Yuri was on the bed bandaged nearly from head to toe. Otabek's heart ached for him so much that he felt like he was getting stabbed, his eyes started to become watery and he rushed forward to him. Despite being in such a bad condition, Yuri turned over to get a better view of Otabek and tried to smile. With what was left of his energy, he managed to whispered quietly, "Beka."

Everyone took this as a signal and left the room. Otabek took Yuri's hand and couldn't stop himself from crying anymore. Yuri wasn't supposed to end up like this, he was supposed to be at the very top of the world, not on the hospital bed being so helpless. Yuri raised his left hand and patted Otabek on the head and said,

"I'm fine..." No he wasn't, he wasn't, stop lying.

Otabek gathered himself up and wanted to hug Yuri but he was afraid of hurting him even more so he didn't. Instead he showed Yuri those bright and cheery daisies that he just got him. Otabek could tell that he loved them despite not showing much emotions, or more like he wasn't able to. Otabek put those flowers into a vase right next to Yuri's where he could easily see it. Otabek then told him how much he misses him and sweet nothings.

~

"So, how was it?"

After an hour or so, Yuri fell asleep listening to Otabek's stories or it could've been the medicine's influence, Otabek then left the room.

"I couldn't say it... How about when he's better?"

Otabek wasn't sure if he was trying to deceive himself or Yuri but either ways, this was his best solution that he could come up with.

"He does have a point, I don't think we should agitate Yuri any further." Mila said.

Otabek clenched his fist and he swore that he was going to kill the driver. He was damn well going to murder him and he wouldn't even mind going to jail for it, he just minds not being able to see Yuri. God, helplessness sucks.

I want him to be happy

~

"Oh my god, walking is great!"

Six months went by an instant and now Yuri is ready to leave the hospital. Otabek came extremely early to the hospital to take his little kitty back home. For six whole months, Otabek never missed a day in coming to visit Yuri, in fact, he took the whole session off just for Yuri. He lost motivation and even felt guilty to skate when he knows that Yuri is unable to move yet he is skating freely.

"Beka, I'm so going to do quads at my senior debut!" You could hear the excitement in Yuri's voice from miles away and pairing with such a wide smile, Otabek didn't know what to do.

Otabek put down whatever he was holding and stood in front of Yuri. He held both of his hands and looked at him in the eyes.

"Beka? What's wrong? You look so serious."

"Yuri... The doctors say that you can't skate..."

Still confused and unaware, Yuri asked, "Huh? For how long? If its a few months, I can still make it for my senior debut at grand prix."

"For... a very long time..."

Yuri blinked and couldn't comprehend at all what he was saying. It was like an alien language to him.

"What do you mean? It can't be possible, Otabek, don't lie to me. This isn't funny."

"I'm not lying, its true. Your legs were injured too badly."

Yuri suddenly felt light headed at this statement and lost his balance. Luckily Otabek managed to catch him in time. Yuri pushed Otabek away and was horrified. How could he say that? He's lying. But Yuri knew damn well Otabek wouldn't lie to him in this kind of manner, its not even funny. It was true. Yuri started to cry and repeatedly said 'it wasn't true'. Otabek rushed to Yuri and hugged him tightly. Yuri was totally out of control at this point, he thrashed around in Otabek's arms and cried hysterically. How could this happen to him like that? What should he do? His world revolved around skating and now it's gone? What the hell? Otabek couldn't do anything but hold onto him. Both of their hearts broke on that day.

Yakov, Grandpa and Viktor stood outside and dare not enter. The sound of the ever stubborn and prideful Yuri Plisetsky crying was painful enough.

~

The second day, Yuri's voice was hoarse from all the shouting and crying. Otabek didn't sleep a wink in case Yuri does something stupid, he was paranoid enough to hide all the knives in his house.

When Yuri woke up, Otabek could see the lifelessness in his eyes so he tried his best to cheer him up. He made his favourite breakfast and even made grandpa come over and bring Yuri some pirozhki. Despite not eating anything, Yuri couldn't stomach anything down, not even his favourite. Grandpa tried to talk sense into him yet he refused to listen, grandpa yelled at him yet he showed no reaction either. It took Otabek quite a while to get grandpa to calm down.

Yuri suddenly changed his clothes and was getting ready to go out. Otabek panicked and told grandpa that he will go after Yuri and rushed out alongside Yuri. Otabek tried to ask him where he was going but was only met with silence. However, it didn't take him too long to figure out.

~

"Do what you want, I'm not in the mood." Yakov was totally out of character today. He didn't yell at anyone's mistakes and was sighing repeatedly. Mila was getting worried but Viktor knew that he still blamed himself for what had happened to Yuri.

Just then, the door opened and everyone shoot their glance over. Standing at the door was none other then Yuri. He walked over with Otabek following and started to put on his skate like usual.

"Yuri, he can't - at least not yet." Viktor tried to talk him out of it but Yuri obviously didn't want any of that.

Yuri stood into the rink and did some simple step sequence. He felt like usual, the doctors were exaggerating, he thought. Everyone thought so too, everyone suddenly felt like Yuri could skate once again, just look him.

Yuri then became ambitious and attempted a triple axel. He didn't complete it. Yuri felt a sharp pain when he jumped and immediately fell. Otabek and Yakov rushed to Yuri as quickly as they could.

"One more time..." Yuri struggled to even stand back onto his feet.

"STOP IT THIS INSTANTLY!" Yuri swore that his heart nearly popped out with this sudden loud yell. Everyone's attention was now on Yakov who suddenly shouted. Yakov went to Yuri and pulled him by the collar.

"If you want to blame someone, blame me for not stopping you from going out late hard enough. You can't jump, thats the fact now, what do you want to do? Try and jump until your legs fall off? Even so, you won't be able to do a triple - no, single axel. Everyone is heartbroken that you are like this. Stop it, this is not the Yuri Plisetsky that we all know." Yuri's tears already started to stream down his face. Yakov sighed and hugged him.

"We will all help you, Yuri. Medical stuff is so advanced nowadays, there surely will be a way out there for you to be able to skate on the ice again ok?" Viktor stood now to Yuri and Yakov and reassured Yuri. Yuri really didn't had anymore say in this anymore. All he could do is hold onto everyone's words.

I just want to stand on the ice once more

~

Yey. This is the end. Should I continue and make it happy? AHAH I should stop lololol.
