On Ice Once More (Part one)

"YURI, ONE MORE QUADRUPLE FLIP AND ILL FLIP YOU!"

The infamous screaming of the ever loud Yakov Coach can be heard from miles away. It was to no one's surprise that his yells, was once again directed to Yuri Plisetsky.

Yuri Plisetsky is the current hot topic in the skater world. The Russian Fairy was his nickname although he hated it, obviously at an age of 15, he wanted to be known as cool and a fairy is nowhere near associated with "cool". His beauty, despite being a man, can easy rival one of those models on Vogue magazine without a doubt. Even if half of his deep sea blue eyes are covered with his blonde fringe, no problem, he still wins hands down.

"Tsk." Yuri merely clicked his tongue at the voice of his coach. He was already approaching his senior debut so why is quadruple flip still out of bounds? Worried for his body development? He is man enough to do a quadruple flip, or so he thought.

Deciding that he had enough, he went back to the resting area. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could sense a presence that seemed to have followed him for quite some times yet he never knew who or what was it, it always seem to disappear once he noticed its presence.  He whip his hair- I mean head behind him as quickly as he could that he swore that he almost broke his neck however, there was no one there.  Yuri was really confused now, he is starting to think that all those yelling by Yakov got into his head and he is starting to get delusional. Little did he knew it was a sign for him to not go.

"YURI, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" Yakov's infamous yell, here we go again.

From a distance, Yuri shouted back, "PARK! THE RIVER IS FROZEN, I WANT TO SKATE THERE."

"THERE'S A PERFECTLY FINE RINK HERE AND ITS DARK OUTSIDE, WHY YURI WHY?"

"CAUSE I CANT DO A QUAD WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT KILLING ANYONE"

"Oh wow, he thinks" Mila was not helping the shouting situation, obviously.

"Shut up, hag!" With that, Yuri walked out of the rink and out into the cold but being born and raised in Russia, this was nothing.

It was late at night and the stars was visible. Normally at this timing, no one will be at the frozen river at the park he frequented so he can skate with ease. He loved to skate without a care in the world, he didn't skate for the fame or fortune, but surprisingly, for the fun of it. Although his competitiveness always gets in the way of this ideal of his.

Yuri came to a stop at the traffic light junction, hardly any cars was in sight, only two or three vehicles can be seen on the road. Despite so, him being like a good kitty, Yuri stood at the red light and waited for it to turn green. In the meantime, he scrolled through his Instagram and the first thing that he saw was JJ's photo with a girl around his arms. Yuri glared at his screen as if sending his hate over it would work.

The light finally turned green and Yuri looked up from his phone and crossed the road. He threw his phone back into his pocket and walked straight, across the road. It was a mere twenty steps away to the other side. He started walking in a slow pace with

10 steps away to the other end...

8 steps away to the other end....

5 steps to the other end...

Yet, the other end didn't come.

Yuri never got across it.

"MOVE IT! THIS BOY WAS IN AN ACCIDENT! HE IS LOSING A LOT OF BLOOD!"

"PREPARE THE SURGERY THEATRE NOW!"

A lot of screaming and shouting echoed in the emergency room in the dead night. No one could spare any time to lose as the boy just sent here was in a terrible accident.

Drunk driving.

A 47 year old man drove a lorry in the midst of the night while under the influence of alcohol. He didn't see the red light nor the boy crossing it. He ram straight right into the boy.

The boy laid still on the operating theatre with his life barely hanging on a thread. No one could ensure his survival, his life was in the hands of the gods. It was no longer his own life, the gods will need to be the ones to save him now. Even the doctors thought that only a miracle could save him now upon laying his eyes on him. Such a small boy, hit by such a large vehicle, it was a surprise that his heart still beat. The bright luminous light shone on the boy on the operating theatre. Miracle, please fall upon this boy.

Outside the Surgery room, Yakov and Viktor paced around back and fro. Yakov blamed himself for allowing Yuri to leave the rink so late in the night and Vikor couldn't stay still or he might go crazy. That boy was almost an exact copy of his younger days by doing things that he thought only he dared to, he was a precious person to him. Mila comforted Yuri's grandpa who nearly fainted from shock, but even herself could not contain her sadness as tears fell like a broken pearl necklace. Yuri's grandpa buried his face into his hands and did not even dared to imagine what will happen to his dearest grandson, they only had each other since a long time ago and... Yuri was his light... It cannot go out, or he wouldn't want to live anymore too.

After long agonising hours, the red light finally dimmed and a group of doctors finally came out of the surgery room. Everyone outside rushed towards them and asked frantically how was the boy.

"How is he - Yuri, my boy, did he live? He did didn't he?" Grandpa was going out of his mind soon with such a long wait.

"He is okay..." One of the doctor peeled off his mask and said words that finally let them breathe out a sigh in relief.

"But..."

Oh fucking no

"Wha, what is it? Oh god my heart can't take this." This time Yakov was the one who was going crazy, he was already guilt ridden and he will really not forgive himself if anything happened to his star skater and precious discipline.

"His legs was crushed under the lorry in a very terrible condition as such, he might not be able to do sports such as basketball, track and field or even walking for too long."

"...What about... figure skating? Mila tried to look for that glimpse of hope that could maybe still exist.

"That wouldn't be possible, figure skating will require jumping which he is most likely not able to do without hurting himself."

Viktor put his hands over his mouth in an attempt to conceal his gasp. Yuri was a skater for god's sake! What do you mean he can't do it anymore? Yuri hadn't even had his senior debut with quads yet, what do you mean he can't? He was the most promising skater right now and everyone had high hopes for him so what the hell is this? Viktor couldn't even imagine Yuri's face when he gets to hear the news...

Viktor took out his phone and punched in a few numbers to call someone over, he knew that this  person would at least be able to give Yuri some strength somehow through all this.

"Hello? Otabek? I'm sorry to call you at this hour but its about Yuri..."

On the other end of the line, Otabek could sense something amiss. Viktor was not his usual cheerful self and what about Yuri? Did something happened him to him? He was getting anxious to hear what Viktor was going to say next.

"Yuri... he got into a major accident and... the doctors said he won't be able to skate anymore... I don't know how to break this to him, none of us here do. I know he listens to you the most so please come over and help this poor boy out."

Otabek dropped his phone and was in a state of shock. Yet he came back to his senses quick enough. His hands was trembling yet he managed to pick his phone back up and told Viktor he will be flying over soon enough. He didn't had time to think of anything else, he had to be by Yuri's side right now.
