007: Arrival

The four of you try to get a glimpse of the long-awaited planet that is now right outside the shuttle.

"I can't believe we're actually here!"
Mia squeals in excitement. The journey had been long and tiring. Luckily, what was supposed to be a 9 month long trip had been reduced to a matter of weeks due to the latest warp speed technology implemented in the spacecraft.

The planet looked uncannily similar to the Earth, with it's green landmasses and.... red oceans. The atmosphere had a shade of purple, instead of the usual blue you would see on Earth.
The colours were candy to the eyes, and you found yourself longing to stare at this ethereal orb forever.

But why stare, when you can walk, feel, and smell it?

The silence in the shuttle was deafening, but it was a peaceful silence, one that would encapsulate the moment in a sci-fi movie where humans had experienced nothing like this before.

"Ok, we need to land right now if we want to have sufficient fuel to get back."
Namjoon says, hastily pushing his floating glasses back down onto his nose. You nod, rubbing your palms together.
"Ok! You guys know the protocols. Stay together. We aren't here to play hide and seek, this place is unpredictable. I don't want to end up with a casualty on my hands, alright?"

The eager students nod, as everyone makes their way to the suit port. There were special skin tight suits to be worn when stepping into other planets. They connected themselves into your bodies through a chip in the back of your necks.

Everyone had to be implanted to be able to carry out these missions, and it worked better for the safety of everyone's lives. The suit would pick up approaching unidentified life, or unusual drops in temperature and climate and would heat itself up or decrease it's temperature according to the temperatures outside.

It would scan the entire area you walked on and compiled the collected data into a map that was stored in the microchips implanted on the back of your neck. If ever you needed it, you could pull it up and track back from where you came.

It had many other functions, and all in all it was one of the best inventions made for planet explorers like them.
Everyone straps themselves in, and the spacecraft begins to slowly descend down into the planet.

Everyone gazed in awe at the window, as the deep black void of space began to fade, a lilac purple beginning to take its place.

Lilac skies.. pretty

And soon enough, the spacecraft reached the end of its descent. Everyone looks at each other, exhilarated.
"Let's go."
You say, not wanting to wait any further. With everyone's suits on, Namjoon twists and opens the hatch. It pops out, and you take a deep breath, your breath almost fogging up the fiberglass helmet.

You turn to the others.
"Is everyone's oxygen level full?"
They nod, gazing at the world that lay outside the circular hatch. Mia takes the first step outside, the sand crunching beneath her boots.

"Purple soil?"
Jake says with a laugh as he jumps out. The gravity on the planet was a fraction below earth's gravity level, and it took a few seconds to jump down from the spacecraft to the ground.

It wasn't to the point where you would float around, and you could even run faster and jump longer. The bright green trees contrasted with the deep purple soil, and you grinned at the peculiar world.

Bending down, you open your jar and fill it with soil to the brim, putting it into your backpack that was attached to the suit.

"Ok, so it seems as though we've landed in a forest. We need to be careful, there may be predators anywhere and we don't know where they might jump out from."
Everyone nods, their faces now growing serious.

Everyone was loaded with ammo, and the latest weaponry. Holding your bazooka sized gun, everyone begins walking forward after making sure the ship was completely locked.

Soon, the sound of gushing water reaches your ears and you exchange glances with Jake, nodding before approaching the source of the sound.

"Wow."

Mia exclaims, exhilarated as everyone stares in awe at the huge waterfall before them.

"It's red water. Amazing!"

Jake says with a laugh, bending down to dip his fingers into the river. You grab his hand, glaring at him.

"No contact. We don't even know if this is safe or not. Looks can be deceiving, Jake."

You turn to the other two, clapping your hands twice.

"Keep moving!"

The others walk ahead of you, and you bend down with your jar in hand, carefully filling it with the crimson red water before putting it in your backpack.

We should have encountered some form of life by now.

You think, scanning your surroundings before resuming your walk ahead of the others. You turn to Namjoon.

"Joon, run a molecule test. We need to know if this atmosphere is breathable or not."

Namjoon nods immediately, fumbling to pull out the the little thermometer-shaped device before holding it up. He shakes his head, saying.

"I need to stand near open ground, certain trees seem to be giving out different substances for some reason. The space near the river was perfect, I'll be right back."

Jake nods, replying.

"Let me come with you."

Once the pair walks to the open space, Mia and you sit down on a rock. You could see Namjoon and Jake from where you were sitting, and Mia sighs, saying,

"This place seems quiet. Old man George said they encountered abundant life, yet I don't see any."

You nod, glancing at your oxygen level and back to Namjoon who was holding the tester up in the distance. At that moment, the bushes behind you ruffle, and the two of you immediately jump up, pulling out your large weapons aimed at the bushes.

Not wanting to take a chance, you pull the trigger, and an electric blue laser leaves your gun, splitting the air as it reaches the bush in a fiery explosion. A whine and shuffles are heard from the other side, and Mia glances at you in fear.

"JIYOO, HEL-"

You hear Namjoon's voice screech and you turn around to see Namjoon and Jake's feet being dragged out of your sight.

"Fuck!"

Mia yells, and the two of you sprint to where they last were, with nothing but the lines in the soil as the only evidence of their presence.

"Master, they're right there. Let's just finish the assignment and capture them."

The blazing red creature on two legs growls, staring through the bushes at the two angered women standing there.

The silver haired being shakes his head, his silver ringed eyes lingering on them before looking at the pair of men tied up behind him.

"Not yet."

He says, nodding at the other two creatures next to them. Understanding his signal, the other creatures take hold of Namjoon and Jake who had passed out on seeing the hideous beings.

With a few touches on the pads on their wrists, a red light crawls around the ground beneath them before flashing for a moment, and the beings that once stood there had vanished without a trace.

The red creature grew increasingly impatient beside the silver being.

"Master, we have to capture them now, while we have the-"

He's cut off by a strong grip around his throat, his red eyes now aligned with a blazing pair of silver eyes.

"Are you defying my orders, Dejah?"

The silver being growls, a wave of power emitting from him as Dejah cowers before him, whimpering at the pain that seared through his bones.

"N-no, master."

He manages to say, and the silver being lets go of him, a sadistic grin splaying across his glowing face as he looks through the bushes once more.

"Good. After all, what's the point of a hunt without a little fun?"
