It's been a week and a half since the petrification ceremony, for the time being, Luz and the others have been laying low for a while.

Since they were all wanted criminals, no one wanted to risk getting arrested for buying human trash from Eda. So Luz, Eda, King and Lilith had become bounty hunters to put food on the table.

They were in town, with a cart full of creatures and demons to turn in so they can get paid.

Bounty Clerk: Here's your payment.

He says, offering them one coin.

Eda: A single snail!? Are you kidding me!?

Bounty Clerk: Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't done yet.

He says before snapping the coin in half.

Eda: You can't do this to me! Do you know who I am!?

Bounty Clerk: Yeah, you're Eda the Owl Lady. What are you gonna do? We all know you're powerless now.

Eda: Powerless. Powerless? Okay then . . . Shazam!

She yelled as a thunderbolt struck her as she transforms, shocking everyone.

Eda: Still think I'm powerless, little man?

Bounty Clerk: N-No ma'am! My apologies! Here!

He says, giving Eda a huge bag of coins.

Eda: Yeah, that's what I thought!

She says before Lilith groans.

Eda: What's up, Lily?

Lilith: These.

She says, pointing towards a bunch of posters showing a picture of a witch wearing a white cloak and a golden helmet.

The poster reads; "The Golden Guard. Join the Emperor's Coven. Today!"

Luz: The Golden Guard? Did you know him in the coven, Lilith?

Lilith: Unfortunately, I did. He always got special treatment because he was the "genius teen prodigy." But he's really just a brat. If he's in charge . . . vomit.

She says, crumbling the poster into a ball before throwing it in the trash.

Luz: Well, why don't we forget about this "Golden Guard" and get some more bounties?

Eda: Sounds good to me.

Lilith: No thank you. I think I'll just return to the Owl House.

Eda: All right, Lily. We'll see you later.

She says before Lilith takes the cart and leaves.

Luz and Eda then pick out their own individual bounty before parting ways.

The teen then goes to the docks, showing the ship's captain a bounty poster with King riding her back.

Luz: The Selkidomus hunt. I want in.

Captain Salty: You think you can handle this, squirt?

Luz: I can handle anything.

She says before the captain gives her sailor clothes, to which she goes to change before boarding the ship.

Luz couldn't help but admire the view on deck as the ship took off into the boiling sea before she and the crew were called on deck by the captain.

Captain Salty: All right, crew. The Selkidomus has been ravaging the coastline. It was last seen in the Simmering Shoals. You know the drill. Snag the quarry, get the money galore-y. We all do the work, we all get a cut. Till then, keep everything shipshape. This ain't no pleasure cruise.

He says before tossing a broom to Luz.

Captain Sakty: Don't be a burden, sea squirt.

Luz: Oh, you don't have to worry about me.

She says before she began sweeping up the deck before being tasked to getting rid of the chomping barnacles that have matched onto the ship.

Luz uses a plant glyph to lower herself down with a vine, hissing at the barnacles to shut them up before using King's horn to remove them.

She was then tasked to shovel coal into the firebox, only for Luz to use her fire glyphs, giving the ship an extra boost, making it sail faster than it did before.

All of Luz's hard work had gained the respect of the captain and the crew and after some time, the captain was looking through his telescope.

Captain Salty: We're here. The Simmering Shoals. Eyes peeled, mates.

He said as they sailed near a half sunken burning ship.

Captain Salty: She's close.

He says before a large tail fin emerges from the water and hits the ship, making everyone fall to the floor.

Luz: She's here!

She called out as the creature circled the ship with the crew members throwing spears at it.

The Selkidomus then jumps out of the water, ejecting spikes towards the ship which knocked one crew member's head off, though he simply puts it back on.

Luz wanted to use her powers, but she'd only use it as a last resort as she takes out her ice glyphs, launching them towards the creature.

The third glyph had created a wall of ice, which the Selkidomus bumps it's head to, roaring at the crew.

Luz then uses a plant glyph, launching vines towards it.

The Selkidomus was restrained as Luz struggled to pull, though the crew quickly came in to help as they pulled in the Selkidomus together.

Luz then tied the vines to the ship, securing the creature.

Luz: We did it!

She cried out before lightning struck the firebox, creating an explosion that sets it on fire.

This distraction gave the Selkidomus the opportunity to break free from the vines and escape into the water.

Luz then looked towards the smoke to see a figure grabbing the coin bag and jumping off the ship.

Captain Salty: What was that? A ghost pirate?

Luz: It took the money! We're being robbed!

She yells before running to the edge of the boat to see the thief getting away by . . . flying low above the water?

Luz was surprised by this but then shook her head before immediately jumping off the ship.

Luz: Shazam!

She yelled, lightning striking her as she transforms before flying after the thief.

Luz was flying at top speed and was catching up quickly, the thief appeared to be wearing a red cloak, hiding her face.

But the thief's identity didn't matter, what does matter is that Luz stops her from getting away with the money.

Luz was getting closer, holding her arms out before finally getting into arm's reach, grabbing the thief.

Thief: Huh?!

She yelled as to the two started spinning about through the air as they were getting closer to a nearby island.

Luz had tried to stop the thief from struggling but was surprised by how strong she was as she couldn't hold the thief steady.

Luz: Shazam!

She yelled, to which a lightning strikes them both. Luz then reverted to her human form only for her eyes to widen upon seeing Eda in her arms.

Eda: Luz?!

Luz: Eda?!

They yelled in surprise before screaming as they hit the sandy beach of the island.

Luz: Eda, what the heck are you doing robbing our ship?!

Eda: There weren't any good bounties, so what else was I gonna do?! But why were you on that ship to begin with?!

Luz: I thought I'd do the Selkidomus bounty! I can't believe you've done this!

Eda: Hey, you're the one who turned us BOTH back to normal! We could've been killed from that landing!

She yelled before a giant abomination hand appeared from the water, landing on the sand as the Golden Guard had arrived.

Golden Guard: That can still be arranged.

He said as he stares at them with Eda and Luz glancing at each other before looking towards the new head of the Emperor's Coven.

Golden Guard: Hello, criminals. What's about to happen should be relatively painless, if you just do what I say.

Luz: And why would we do that?

Golden Guard: Because none of you can use real magic.

Eda: You don't know that.

Golden Guard: Maybe not, but I do know that you're standing on a plant that eats fresh.

He said as the two realized what he said was true, their feet sizzling and burning as they screamed, jumping off the plant and cooling them in the cold sand.

The Golden Guard couldn't help but laugh at them.

Golden Guard: Okay. The human will remain a sailor to repay all the money she lost, while the Owl Lady will be arrested, again, for attacking one of the emperor's ships.

Luz: The emperor's ship?

Eda: They're the only ones worth robbing. Why are you guys hunting the Selkidomus? It's a peaceful creature and you're provoking it.

Golden Guard: The Emperor ordered me to slay one. I'm just following orders. Anyway, there is an alternative. No one has to be a sailor or get arrested so long as one of you follows those Selkidomus tracks and slays the beast. Here, I'll help.

He says before conjuring up a sword for them.

Golden Guard: If you don't, I'll drown this little creature.

He says, holding up a bird cage covered with a sheet, pulling it off to reveal King imprisoned in it.

Golden Guard: It's your choice.

He says before Luz and Eda glance at each other, the Owl Lady giving her a nod.

Golden Guard: What say you, human?

He asks to which Luz gives him a grin.

Luz: Shazam!

She says before lightning strikes her, this made the Golden Guard fall to the ground as he looks at Luz's transformation with wide eyes beneath his mask.

The Golden Guard quickly moved to try and get a hold of the cage King was kept in only for Luz to grab him by the wrist.

Luz: Better luck next time.

She says with a smile before yeeting him into the air, the Golden Guard screaming as he disappeared into the horizon.

Luz then easily rips the cage open as King jumps into Luz's arms.

Luz: You okay, King?

King: Yup!

He says before they saw the Selkidomus emerging from her cave along with her baby.

Luz: Oh my gosh, it's so cute!

King: What are those things?!

Eda: Relax, King. I guess they can tell we're not a threat.

She said as mother and child approached our trio, Luz not being able to contain herself as she pets and snuggles with the Selkidomus calf.

Eda: This area's too dangerous. You need to move further out to sea.

She said, to which the mother Selkidomus nods in response before vomiting up some . . . golden vomit.

Eda: Hot dang! It gave us the treasure of the sea!

Luz: You mean all this puke?

Eda: It's selkigris! People pay big money for it at the night market. Here!

She says before rubbing it all over her face.

Luz: Ah! Eda, stop! What the heck!? Wait . . . woah, my skin's so smooth.

She says before they said their goodbyes to the Selkidomus mom and baby before flying off with the selkigris as they returned to the Owl House.

Eda: We're home!

She says before screaming as she trips over Hooty.

Lilith: Edalyn, come here. I have a gift for you.

She says, showing them a pot of scrying potion.

Lilith: To prove I am trustworthy, I'm giving you a peek inside the Emperor's castle.

She says as it shows them an image of the Emperor's castle, the guards being pretty laid back.

Luz: What are we supposed to do with this?

Lilith: Whatever you want. Don't you see? These troops don't know what to do with themselves. So go crazy. Pull whatever pranks your heart desires. They're clueless without me.

Eda: Oh, Lily, you couldn't have been more right. And that Golden Guard? What a chump. Poor guy couldn't even hope to fight off Luz, let alone me. I'm in a good mood, who wants to get takeout and draw faces on hooty?

Luz & King: We do!

They said before running into the kitchen with Eda while Lilith stayed in the living room with Hooty.

Meanwhile at the Emperor's castle, the black box that Belos had acquired weeks prior had begun to develop a few more cracks as the lightning symbol began to glow again.
