Season 2 - Part 4
Note: I DO NOT own Amphibia or Marvel Comics so don't report me, this is for entertainment purposes only.
I should also let you know that this chapter is based on Season 2 the second half of episode 7 & episode 10. With the first half of episode 7, as well as episodes 8 & 9 having little to no differences from canon.
With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy the chapter.
It's been a day since Anne and the Plantars had arrived in Newtopia. They, alongside Marcy, had gone on a scavenger hunt to figure out a message the King of Amphibia was sending them.
They figured it out, the message being for Marcy to bring the Plantars to the King.
We now cut to Anne, Marcy and the Plantars making their way inside the castle
Anne: Dang, Mar-Mar. This is where you've been hanging out this whole time?
Marcy: I wouldn't say I "hang out" here, but . . . yes! Staying at the castle has been awesome!
She said as Anne couldn't help but stare at Marcy before they reached a door to which Lady Olivia appears.
Olivia: Okay, frog family. You're about to meet King Andrias. This is a big deal.
She said, making the frogs nervous while Anne was only slightly nervous.
They then went through the doors and walked down the halls of the throne room.
Olivia: May I present to you Andrias Leviathan, Lord of Amphibia. Peacekeeper of a thousand years, and the first of his name.
She said as Anne and the Plantars looked up in awe upon seeing the literal giant newt, King Andrias sitting on his throne.
King Andrias: Hello, Plantar Family!
He says, letting out a laugh as he stands up from his throne and bringing the Plantars in for a hug, squeezing them pretty tightly.
King Andrias: Ooh! And who do we have here?
He asks upon seeing Anne.
Anne: Name's Anne Howlett-Boonchuy. Nice to meet ya.
She says with a bow only for Andrias to lift her up to her feet.
King Andrias: No need to be so formal my dear. Marcy's told me a lot about you.
Anne: Lot of good things?
King Andrias: Indeed. Now then, let's get down to business, shall we? Getting you girls back home safe and sound. Hmm. Alas, without the music box, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do. Marcy doesn't have it and, well, I assume you don't have it either.
Anne: Well, actually I do have it. Sorta. I mean, I don't have it on me. I have it to Hop Pop a while ago and he gave it to some of his contacts to research it.
He said as Hop Pop had a nervous look on his face.
Anne: I have a photo if you wanna make sure it's the right one?
King Andrias: Oh, yes! A photo.
He says as Anne shows him a photo of the music box.
King Andrias: Hmmm. How peculiar. Marcy, didn't you say the gems were colored? They appear to be grey.
Anne: Huh. I never actually noticed that before.
King Andrias: This will require further study in the deepest of our archives. Give me a few days to work with this information. At that time, we shall reconvene and set a glorious plan in motion.
Anne: Well that's good to hear! Mar-Mar, what can we do to help?
Marcy: Can you translate ancient Amphibian runes?
Anne: . . . Shit!
She yelled to which everyone gasps.
Olivia: Young lady, that is no way to speak in front of the King!
King Andrias: It's fine, Olivia. I don't mind. Now until my research is complete, my dear Plantars, go forth and enjoy the sights of Newtopia. We've booked you a suite at the Hemisphere Hotel, my treat. Now, pick a hand!
He says, extending both his large fists out.
Anne wondered which to choose only for Andrias to tilt his head towards his right hand.
Anne grinned, figuring he was tricking her, as she chooses his left hand.
King Andrias: Wrong!
He laughed before opening his right hand to reveal what looks like a golden card.
King Andrias: This is the royal credit card. It will grant you access to do anything in Newtopia. Be safe with this now. Wars have been waged for less.
He says, giving the card to Hop Pop.
Sprig: Woah! We get to explore Newtopia with unlimited money? This is a dream come true. Onward, family! Time to see Newtopia!
Anne: Up-pup-pup! I don't think so!
She says, snatching the card away.
Hop Pop: Hey!
Polly: What the heck, Anne!?
Anne: I can't trust you guys with this thing! You'll just buy things we don't need and other stuff you won't even use afterwards!
Hop Pop: Fair enough.
Sprig: No it isn't! You can trust me with it, Anne!
Anne: I'm keeping the card and that's it, Sprig.
Sprig: Aw, man!
He says before they went to the suite Andrias booked them in as Anne was the first to enjoy herself a warm shower before heading off to sleep.
A few days later, after some shenanigans in Newtopia, Anne and the Plantars had been given news that King Andrias has found answers during his research on the Music Box.
Unfortunately, they had to wait until tomorrow to hear the news as it was getting late.
But on the plus side, Marcy had decided to invite Anne, Sprig and Polly to a sleepover to which they happily obliged as Lady Olivia escorted them to Marcy's room.
Olivia: Good evening, Master Marcy. Anne Howlett-Boonchuy and the Plantars have arrived for your-
Anne, Sprig & Polly: Sleepover!
They interrupted, running into Marcy's room as Lady Olivia lets out a sigh.
Olivia: Sleepover. If anyone needs me, I'll be in the kitchen drinking . . . juice.
Anne: Right, "juice."
She says with a wink, knowing full well that Olivia was gonna have alcohol, the newt exiting the room before Anne pulls Marcy in for a hug.
Anne: Mar-Mar, how long has it been since we had a sleepover?
Marcy: Too long! This is gonna be awesome!
Sprig: It's the perfect way to spend the night before we hear from the King!
Anne: I wonder what he learned about the music box?
Marcy: I don't want to give anything away, but it's gonna be pretty cool.
She says before Hop Pop comes in.
Hop Pop: Okay, kids. I'll be back in the morning for our meeting with the King. You enjoy yourselves. I'm off to spend a little much-needed me time.
He says before exiting and closing the door.
Polly: Whoo! Me and Sprig's first sleepover!
Sprig: Better make it a good one. THESE WILL BE FORMATIVE MEMORIES.
Anne: Dude, chill.
Marcy: Huh. I just realized, this is our first sleepover without Sasha.
Anne: Really?
Marcy: Yeah. Think we can pull it off? Sasha's the sleepover queen, not us.
Anne: Oh come on, Mar-Mar. We've been through a fuck ton of sleepovers, we know everything about them.
She says with a smile as Marcy smiles back.
Anne & Marcy: Pajamas, junk food, gossip galore, pillow fights, movies, tearing up the dance floor! And listen up, 'cause this won't repeat, never ever go to sleep!
They said simultaneously before laughing.
Sprig: Sensing some missing context here.
Marcy: Sorry about that. Sasha always said falling asleep early means total failure. A true sleepover goes till sunrise.
Anne: Come on! Let's get this sleepover started already!
She says before they took a mattress and ride it down some stairs like a sled, crashing into decorative armor.
They then messed around wearing and using the King's giant sized clothes, pranking Lady Olivia, annihilating Sprig in a pillow fight, raid the kitchen of all the sweets they can carry and paint mustaches on every painting in the castle before making their way back to Marcy's room.
Polly: That was awesome.
Sprig: Best sleepover ever.
Anne: See? Told you we can pull off an awesome sleepover without Sasha. What time is it anyway?
She asks before Marcy checks her phone before letting out a gasp.
Marcy: Only 9 pm?!
Anne: The fuck?!
Sprig: Hehe, that early?
Polly: But I'm so tired . . .
Anne: No! Stay awake dammit!
She yells, shaking the two furiously.
Anne: Marcy, I think it's time.
Polly: Time for what?
She says before Anne turns off the lights with Marcy's phone being the only light source they have.
Anne & Marcy: The Scare-Dare Challenge.
They said with their attempts at a creepy voice.
Marcy: The rules are simple. One of us comes up with a scary dare and we all have to do it.
Anne: And whoever bails first gets their name added to . . .
Marcy: The Book of Losers.
She says, holding up a notebook that reads just that.
Polly: Well I'm sold.
Sprig: Let's do it!
Marcy: Okay, all we need is a scary dare.
She said as everyone tried to think of a scary dare.
Sprig: Yeah, I got nada.
Anne: Dammit, there's gotta be something for a scary dare!
She says as she looks around the dark bedroom with her phone before looking at a poster with details on the castle.
Anne: Say, didn't Olivia say something about the basement being off limits?
Marcy: Well, yeah. But I don't think we should go there. It's off limits for a reason.
Anne: Well I'm going. Does this mean you're gonna bail?
She asks with a smirk on her face as Marcy lets out a gasp.
Marcy: Hell no! I accept this Scare-Dare challenge!
Sprig & Polly: Us too!
Anne: Then let's go.
She says before they all sneak their way the lower levels of the castle before reaching a cellar door.
Anne then casually lifts it open as everyone stares at the dark stairway.
Anne could tell the others were creeped out and grins.
Anne: Anyone wanna go first?
She says as everyone kept silent.
Anne: Okay, I'll go first.
She says before heading down the stairs with confidence as Marcy, Sprig and Polly followed close behind.
As they went down the stairs, Marcy had tripped as was about to fall only for Anne to quickly catch her.
Anne: You okay, Mar-Mar?
She says, Marcy blushing as she was now in Anne's arm.
Marcy: Y-Yeah! Thanks.
She says as they continued their way down the dark stairs, Marcy holding onto Anne's arm to ease her fear.
Anne couldn't help but smile, blushing as Marcy held onto her like she always did whenever she gets scared.
They finally made it to the bottom of the stairs where they found a hallway with both walls covered in mirrors.
They looked straight ahead to see that even the phone's light couldn't reach the other side of the hallway, creeping everyone out, minus Anne.
Anne: Anybody feel like turning back?
She asks with a smirk on her face.
Polly: Please.
Sprig: You kidding me?
Marcy: As if.
They said, hiding their fear as they walked down the hallway, Marcy's grip on Anne's arm tightening a bit as she turned around to see that the doorway they came from was no longer visible.
They then made it to the other side of the hallway to see a boarded up door with chains, with one the board having strange red writing on it.
Anne: "Keep out," right Mar-Mar?
Marcy: Yeah . . .
She says before Anne gently removes Marcy's hands from her arm before popping out her adamantium claws, slicing the chains and boards off before opening the door to see a large room that's been flooded with water along with dozens of coffins.
Anne: Well this sure as hell isn't creepy.
She says sarcastically.
Marcy: Anne, we wouldn't be here. This feels all sorts of wrong.
She says, holding onto Anne's arm once more.
Anne then turns to look at Marcy, seeing the fear in her eyes.
Anne: Guys, I think Marcy's right. We should head back.
She says, only for Sprig and Polly to give them a smirk.
Sprig: Oh, I see. So I guess you two are okay with going in the Book of Losers.
Anne: I'm not scared of this place, but Marcy is. The last thing I wanna do is give her a heart attack.
Sprig: If you're really not scared, Anne, go take a selfie by that coffin.
He says, pointing towards the one on the opposite side of the crypt.
Anne: I know what you're trying to do, you little shit. But it's working.
Marcy: Anne, no.
Anne: Just a quick selfie, Marcy. I'll be right back.
She says, holding her hands before heading off towards the crypt and taking a selfie without hesitation.
Anne: Nailed it! Wait, this pic's kind of jank.
She said as she noticed one of her eyes was red in the photo only for a small ghostly creature to appear from her phone.
Anne: The fuck?!
She yells before the water started glowing as more ghost-like creatures appeared.
Sprig: Hey, they're actually kinda cute-
Anne: Don't you dare touch them, Sprig! We don't know what they can do!
She says before they see one of the creatures carry frog bones in it's jelly looking body before said bones were eaten away like acid.
Polly: They're gonna eat our bones!
Sprig: Forget this! We're losers! We lose!
He yelled as Marcy ran up to Anne, grabbing her hand.
Anne: What the hell are these things? Aliens? Ghosts? Flying jellyfish blobs?
Marcy: Does it matter?! Let's get out of here!
She yelled as they ran towards the exit but were blocked my a few of the creatures.
Anne: Outta the way!
She yelled, popping her claws out and going in for a slice.
Unfortunately, Anne's claws passed right through them and her hand was burned by it's acidic body, revealing some adamantium bone.
Anne: Ow! Fuck!
She yelled as her hand was already regenerating.
Sprig: Over here!
Polly: We found another exit!
The two yelled as Anne and Marcy followed them, making their into another hallway with mirrors on both sides of the wall.
Anne: Seriously!? Who the fuck put all these mirrors down here!?!!
She yelled as they continued running, making their way into a room full of plants.
Marcy: What the . . . ? A garden? How are all these plants growing so well without sunlight?
Anne: Not the time, Marcy!
She says, grabbing her wrist and pulling her along as they continued running with the creatures starting to catch up.
They then made their way up some stairs only to be stopped a wooden hatch.
Anne: Oh for crying out loud!
She yells before ramming her shoulder into the hatch, forcing it open as everyone finds themselves back in Marcy's room.
Once everyone was in, Anne quickly shuts the hatch as everyone catches their breath.
It didn't last long though as the creatures went right through the hatch in ghost-like fashion.
Anne: Get the hell out of here!
She yelled, chucking a book at it only for said book to go past through it, hitting Sprig instead.
Sprig: Ow!
Anne: Shit! Sorry, dude!
Marcy: I don't understand, why does everything go through them?
Anne: I don't know! Even my adamantium claws are useless!
She yelled as Sprig picks up a mirror, holding it like a baseball bat.
Sprig: Stand back! I have a mirror and I'm not afraid to smash your face in with it!
She says before one of the creatures looks at the mirror. Suddenly, a bright light appeared as the creature was no longer glowing.
Curious, Anne immediately punches it in the face, hitting it.
Marcy: It's physical? But how?
Anne: It's gotta be the mirrors! Everybody grab one, quick!
She yelled as everyone grabbed a mirror, using them to turn the creatures physical as everyone started beating them up.
After receiving a thorough beating, the creatures retreated down the wooden hatch as Polly places a mirror on it with Anne putting a sofa chair on top of the mirror for good measure.
Marcy: So . . . anyone think they're going to be able to sleep after that terrifying experience?
Polly: No.
Sprig: Nope.
Anne: Pfft! You guys are babies.
After all that, they continued to stay awake as Anne's alarm went off at 6 am.
Anne: All right, we stayed awake all night.
Sprig: That sleepover was amazing.
Polly: The best!
She yelled as Sprig lets out a sigh.
Sprig: I just wish I didn't have to add my name to the Book of Losers.
Polly: Me either.
They said as they wrote their names in the book.
Anne: Don't get so down, there's always next time.
Marcy: Yeah, plus I was scared too. And not the first either.
She says, opening the book to reveal Marcy's name written in a bunch of times.
Marcy: The only ones brave enough to never get in the book were Anne and Sasha.
She said as Anne couldn't help but let out a sigh.
Anne: We have to find her, Marcy. I need to make things right.
Marcy: We will, Anne. I just know it.
She says before a sudden knock on the door as everyone hid in the covers before Lady Olivia enters with drawings on her face, curtesy of Polly.
Olivia: Rise and shine, children! Because of you, I barely slept a wink last night. Ugh. Well, whatever. It's go time. Your audience with King Andrias is about to begin. Get ready!
She says before shutting the doors, everyone bursting out in laughter.
After some time, everyone got changed and ready before meeting up with Hop Pop as they made their way to the throne room.
King Andrias: Wonderful to see you all again. So, ask me if I found out anything about the box?
Anne: Did you . . . ?
King Andrias: Bingo!
He says before letting out a charismatic laugh.
King Andrias: Ta-da! Take a gander.
He says before showing them a giant sized book on the music box.
King Andrias: According to this book, it's a magical artifact that is thousands of years old. Apparently, my ancestors used it to visit entirely different worlds. They were peaceful explorers, scientists, if you will. These three stones are the key to getting it working again. They need to be recharged.
He says, referring to the blue, pink and green stones on the music box.
Anne: Recharged? How the hell are we gonna do that?
King Andrias: The book mentions three different temples, each channeling a different kind of energy. And once the stones are recharged, you will finally be able to return home.
Anne: I can't believe it. A real chance to get home.
Marcy: Right? Now let's get out there and conquer these bad boys!
King Andrias: Woah. Let's rein those snails in for a sec. The book only gives the location of one temple. Besides, you still have a lot of preparing to do before you set off.
Marcy: Good point. Got to get equipped for a mega-quest like this. Armor to buy, maps to study, weapons to forge. This is gonna take a few days.
Hop Pop: Few days, huh? Well, I hate to say it but we really need to get back to Wartwood. The harvest is coming up and we can't miss it.
Anne: Okay, Marce, me and the Plantars will head back to Wartwood. We can meet up when you're ready.
Marcy: Woah, woah. It doesn't really make sense for you to go back to Wartwood.
Anne: Say what now?
Marcy: The last thing we should do is separate again, now that we're so close to finding our way home.
Anne: Well, yeah, I guess. But I need to go to Wartwood to get the music box. Right, Hop Pop?
Hop Pop: Technically, yes.
Marcy: Nonsense. Once Hop Pop gets the box back, we'll just send a servant to pick it up. More efficient that way.
Anne: Marcy . . . I gotta go back to Wartwood.
Marcy: No you don't, Anne. Like I said, you can stay with me and we'll-
Anne: Marcy, you're asking me to leave the Plantars and to leave all my friends back in Wartwood without saying goodbye. I can't do that.
Marcy: But, Anne . . .
Hop Pop: Um . . . why don't you two take the day to say goodbye or somethin'?
Anne: Yeah, I'll see you guys later. Come on, Mar-Mar.
She says, taking Marcy's hand as they exited the castle.
Anne turned to see the sadness in Marcy's eyes as Anne's grip got slightly tighter.
Anne: Hey, come on Marcy. It's not like this is goodbye forever. The least we can do is have one last fun day together. Does Newtopia have an aquarium?
Marcy: Yeah?
Anne: Let's go there. The aquarium always cheered us up back home.
She said as Marcy smiles at her.
Marcy: Yeah . . . yeah, okay. Let's go! You won't believe the sort of aquatic life Amphibia has!
She says as they made their way to the aquarium.
They then spent the day looking at Amphibia's river creatures, shiny jellyfish, a Kraken, a coral exhibit and then a stage show with stingrays and a giant water snake.
After the show ended, Anne and Marcy went out to eat lunch having had a wonderful day together.
They then met up with the Plantars at around sunset with the sky now orange as everyone had their stuff packed in the wagon.
Marcy: Goodbye, Plantars. Have a safe journey back home.
She says, giving the froggy family a big hug before turning to Anne.
Marcy: You sure you don't want to stay? It's not too late to change your mind.
Anne: My mind's made up, Marcy. I'm heading back to Wartwood with the Plantars. We'll meet up once we're ready for the first temple.
Marcy: Yeah, but . . . but . . .
Anne: What?
She says before Marcy tackles her in a hug.
Marcy: But I don't want you to go! It's barely been a week since I got you back!
She said with tears in her eyes as Anne hugs her back.
Anne: Hey, come on. Don't cry, Mar-Mar. You lasted a few months without me, what's a few more days to you?
She says, wiping her Marcy's tears away as she started smiling again.
Marcy: Thanks, Anne. You really are my best friend.
She said as Anne stares at her for a moment before letting out a chuckle as Marcy looks at her in confusion.
Marcy: What's up?
Anne: You know, for a genius, you can be pretty stupid sometimes.
She says before kissing Marcy on the lips as the Plantars stared in shock and glee.
Marcy: Anne . . . you like me?
Anne: Duh.
She said as Marcy's face went red.
Marcy: . . . I like you too, Anne.
Anne: You have no idea how happy I am to hear that.
She says before hugging Marcy once more, giving her a quick peck on the lips.
Marcy: Bye for now, Anne.
Anne: See ya.
They say before reluctantly letting go as Anne hops on the wagon and they make their way outside the city gate.
As the sun sets, Anne couldn't help but turn around and to her delight, she sees Marcy on top of the wall, waving her hand goodbye.
Anne smiled as she waved her goodbye also.
