Takuya was staring at a sign, beaming with happiness.

"Finally!" Takuya cheered.

It said;

Vermilion City

"Finally after two whole weeks of travelling, we have finally made it." Yami said.

"Still at least I caught some great new Pokémon." Takuya happily said about her new Eevees. "Okay plan; a nice bubbly bath, hit the laundry mat, food than a nap."

"Don't forget us 'Mother' we need healing at the Pokémon Centre." Koyuki added.

"Of course I haven't forgotten." Takuya smiled and headed straight to the Pokémon Centre.

While their Pokémon were being looked after by Nurse Joy, Takuya had a nice long bubbly bath and their clothes were being washed in the laundry room.

Takuya went to her room after her clothes were all washed.

"I needed that." Takuya said as she lay down on the bed, "I felt all grubby and dirty. I need to stack up on some more supplies, but after this nap."

After refreshing herself and their Pokémon, Takuya was still in the Pokémon Centre discussing about her third gym battle.

"So have you decided yet?" Yami asked.

"Yep, I'll go with Tarrin, Denver and Agnider.

"Nice choices."

Just then they saw a trainer rushing into the Pokémon Centre, carrying a very injured Ratatta.

"Help please!" The trainer shouted in worry, "My Ratatta needs help!"

Nurse Joy rushed over, "Oh no, not another one." She said, "Chansey bring a stretcher immediately."

A Chansey brought out a stretcher at once and had the Ratatta placed on it, themn rushed it to the operating room at once.

"This is the twentieth Pokémon this month." Nurse Joy sighs, "and they are all from the Vermilion Gym."

When Takuya heard that, she figured that this would be a tough battle, she took a look at the other victims, there was an Oddish, Sandshrew, Caterpie and a Pidgey, apart from Ratatta.

"I do beg your pardon." Takuya whispered to Yami and Koyuki, "but why use a flying type against an electric type gym?"

To find out more about the Vermilion Gym, Takuya asked the trainers all about their battles.

"Well the battle is four on four, but Lt. Surge the Gym Leader is very strong." Ratatta's trainer said.

"Yeah and his Raichu is no joke." Pidgey's trainer added. "So far I heard, he only used Raichu with wipe out our three Pokémons."

'So one of the Pokémon I'll be battling against is a Raichu.' Takuya thought who thinking about her own Raichu. "What attacks did Raichu use?" She asked.

"It used thunderbolt, body slam, mega kick and mega punch." Sandshrew's trainer answered.

"Didn't it use speeding attacks like quick attack and agility?" Takuya asked.

"No, not once." Oddish's trainer answered. "From what I saw and heard about."

Takuya thanked the trainers for the information and picked up her Pokémon.

'I wonder...' Takuya thought and trailed it off having a plan in mind. 'If that Raichu didn't than, it will work but his other two Pokémon might be an issue since they don't know what it is.'

"You have a plan in mind don't you 'Mother'?" Koyuki asked seeing a small smile on her 'mother' face.

"Yeah I do against the Raichu but his other two Pokémon not so sure." Takuya answered.

They soon reached Vermilion Gym; it looked like a warehouse, with yellow lightning bolts all over it.

"Well here goes nothing." Takuya said and opened the Gym doors, "I'm here for a Gym battle!"

"Ah, more victims for the Pokémon Centre." A female voice said.

Two figures revealed themselves; it was a man and woman, looking like army soldiers, with street punk make up on.

"Follow us." The man and woman together said.

The man and woman led the group to what looked like a boxing ring.

"This is where you will battle our Gym Leader." The woman said.

"Lt. Surge sir!" The man shouted, "A trainer wishes to battle you sir!"

"Another one huh?" A male voice said, he was a big muscular man, with spiky yellow hair cut military style and clothes, wearing dogs tags around his neck and had a a bipedal, rodent-like Pokémon. Raichu is covered in dark orange fur with a cream belly. Its arms and feet have patches of brown fur at the end, and the soles of its big feet are tan with a circular orange pad. Its bifurcated ears are brown on the outside and yellow on the insides and ends in a distinctive curl. The electric sacs on its cheeks are yellow. It has two horizontal brown stripes on its back. Its long, thin tail has a lightning bolt-shaped end, standing beside him.

"Rai, Rai." Raichu said.

Takuya blinked and looked up Raichu:
🔹Raichu, the Mouse Pokemon.
The evolved form of Pikachu. It can shock its enemies with more than 100,000 volts, instantly downing foes several times its size.

"Ouch, definitely shocking." Takuya whines at the volt number.

"Who's my opponent?" Lt. Surge asked.

"I am." Takuya replied.

Lt. Surge took a good look at Takuya, 'Pichu' and unknown pure white Pokémon and he smirked, "So I'm battling a bunch of babies." He said confidently.

"Hey! Who the heck are you calling babies?" Takuya asked feeling very cross.

"Simple you three," Lt. Surge replied pointing to them, "a little girl, an un-evolved Pichu and a small white puny Pokémon. I evolved my Pikachu into Raichu here as soon as I caught it."

Yami and Koyuki glared at Lt. Surge, for stating them that they are weak and feeling very insulted.

Takuya went wide eyed from hearing that, she knew that evolving Pokémon with stones right away wasn't a sensible thing to do.

"Has anyone ever told you to never ever un-estimate a Pokémon by it's appearance." Takuya said with a smirk, "We'll see who the baby is after this match."

"You're brave kid, I'll give you that." Lt. Surge said. "Your on kid."

Lt. Surge and Takuya got ready to fight on the arena.

"This gym battle is between Lt. Surge the Gym Leader and Takuya Sky the challenger!" The man announced, "This is a three on three battle and whoever defeats the opponents two Pokemon first wins! Now let the match begin!"

"Tarrin, show them your strength!" Takuya shouted as her Sandshrew was ready for battling.

"Raichu, front and centre." Lt. Surge commanded and Raichu's sparked its cheeks ready to battle.

'Thought so.' Takuya thought.

"Let's get this battle over with," Lt. Surge said, "Raichu thunderbolt.

"RAICHUUU!" Raichu shot a bolt of electricity to Sandshrew.

"Tarrin use swift to counter that move." Takuya said.

The stars from Tarrin's collided with Raichu's thunderbolt and stopped it from reaching him.

"Use thunderbolt again!"

"Use dig now." Tarrin dived into the ground before the thunderbolt could hit him.

Raichu had no idea where Sandshrew would be so it braced itself.

"Attack now with rock smash." Takuya said.

Sandshrew burst out of the ground and hit Raichu badly with rock smash.

"Use mega kick." Lt Surge commanded.

"Quick use protect then metal claw."

Tarrin had a green orb protecting him and the mega kick recoil for Raichu, then his claws was glowing silver and it hit Raichu injuring it badly he squeaked in pain.

'Time for my plan.' Takuya thought, "Tarrin use rollout and keep on rolling." Tarrin rolled and rolled.

Lt. Surge commanded his Raichu to body slam the Sandshrew, but Raichu kept on missing.

"How can this be?" Lt. Surge asked in disbelief.

Takuya smiled, "I'll tell you why. It's because you evolved your Raichu too fast. Raichu can only learn speeding attacks when it's still a Pikachu. That's why you're Raichu is so slow, you evolved it before teaching it quick attack and agility." She explained smartly.

"You're quite a trainer," Lt. Surge complimented, "but it finishes now."

"Sorry I don't think so," Takuya said with a smirk, "ready Tarrin?"

"Sandshrew!" Tarrin squeaked in response to his trainer and he began to glow.

Sandshrew body begun to change form, he's body is mostly covered in sharp, brown quills formed from its tough, dry hide, his has two large claws on its paws and feet. These claws are his primary weapons and are used for slashing, that can also be used for burrowing.

"Sand, Sandslash!" He cried out.

"Amazing you evolved." Takuya cheered and checked her new Pokémon.

🔹Sandslash, the Mouse Pokemon.
The evolved form of Sandshrew. It curls up, then rolls into foes with its back. Its sharp spines inflict severe damage.

Type: Ground

New Moves Learnt: Fury Swipes, Sand Tomb, Gyro Ball, Earthquake, Rock Smash and *Night Slash.

Lt. Surge was getting impatient, "Just because Sandshrew evolved," he said, "don't think that you will win. Raichu thunderbolt full power."

"RAIIIICHHUUU!!" Raichu sent bolts of thunder all over the arena.

"Tarrin use earthquake to break that thunderbolt." Takuya said.

The earthquake broke up the thunderbolt and struck Raichu really hard.

"Rai-R-Rai... Rai." Raichu was now panting heavily.

"Use thunderbolt again." Lt. Surge said.

"Raii!" Raichu charged its cheeks but nothing happened. "Rai?"

"What's wrong?" He asked his Raichu.

"Could Raichu ran out of electricity Uncle Yami?" Koyuki asked.

Yami grinned, "Yeah, it's all out of shock." He replied.

"It's over Lt. Surge." Takuya said with a smirk, "Raichu used up all of its electricity. Now Tarrin wrap this first round up with night slash."

Tarrin's night slash scratched Raichu really hard and then Raichu fainted with swirls in its eye.

Takuya has won her first match.

Tarrin ran over to Takuya and gave her a hug, "Sandslash!"

"Thank you Tarrin, we won our first round. You were amazing." Takuya praised.

"Raichu return." Lt. Surge recalled back his fainted electric mouse Pokémon, "I'll admit this that I did underestimate you Takuya." He held out a Pokéball, "But this battle is far from done. Go Electabuzz!"He released a slightly humanoid creature with a few feline traits. It is covered in yellow fur with black stripes; a large stripe on its chest is shaped like a lightning bolt. It has a long tail. There are three, clawed toes on its feet; two in front and one in back, while it has five fingers on each hand. It has two sharp fangs and a pair of antennae with bulbous ends.

"Electabuzz!" It said pumping both its fist in the air.

"Oh boy." Takuya groaned, "This is going to be hard." She looked up the Pokémon on her Pokédex.

🔹Electabuzz, the Electric Pokémon. Electabuzz is the evolved form of Elekid. With powerful electric currents running through its body, Electabuzz appears to glow.

"Electabuzz is my strongest Pokémon before Raichu." Lt. Surge stated, "I rarely use Electabuzz in battle but your worth it."

"I see... This is going to be troublesome, Denver show them your strength!" Takuya released her seed Pokémon.

"Bulbasaur!" Denver said ready to battle.

"Electabuzz use iron tail!" Lt. Surge ordered. Electabuzz tail glowed white and it ran to strike Bulbasaur.

"Denver use protect then follow it with energy ball!" Takuya shouted. Denver had a greenish orb around him, with recoiled the iron tail of the electric Pokémon battle then he fired a green energy orb from his mouth at Electabuzz, hitting it directly.

"Elect!" It cried out in pain of the effective move.

"Don't give in Electabuzz, strike back quickly with electro ball!" Lt. Surge commanded. Electabuzz launched two electro ball at Denver hitting him directly as well.

"Bulba-Bulbasaur!" Denver cried out in pain.

"Denver!" Takuya shouted in worry, "Use vine whip!" Denver launched two vines at the electric Pokémon, making it cry out in pain but it grabbed the vine. "Oh no, Den might not last the next attack so... Solar beam go!" Denver began to gather sunlight energy in his bulb.

"Electabuzz, use thunder!" Lt. Surge ordered.

Electabuzz launched a thunder attack and Denver released the solar beam at the thunder. Two attacks hit each causing a explosion making a gust of wind.

"Woah! Hang on!" Yami exclaimed standing his ground.

"I am." Koyuki shouted back.

When the smoke cleared, they saw Electabuzz and Denver both still standing but both heavily injured and panting hard.

Both Pokémon looked at each other and smirked, they both collapsed on the ground with swirling eyes.

Second round is a draw.

Lt. Surge was shocked but called back his fallen electric Pokémon, "That was unexpected but this is the last round. Magnemite go!" He tossed a Pokéball and out came a Pokémon with a seemingly robotic life form that has a gray, spherical metal body with horseshoe magnets on each side and a single, large eye. It has three Phillips head screws on its body: two near the bottom of its body, and the other on top of its head and looks similar to an antenna. The two bottom screws serve no noticeable purpose, appeared on the field.

"Magnemite!"

Takuya checked the Pokémon:
🔹Magnemite, a Magnet Pokémon.
Its means of floating through the air are not understood. This very mysterious Pokémon is of the Electric type.

"It looks like part steel, good thing I was prepared." Takuya said and returned her fallen seed Pokémon, "Take a good rest Denver you deserve it. Agnider, show them your strength!" She released her fire lizard Pokémon.

"Charmander!" He said ready to battle.

"Magnemite use thunderbolt." Lt. Surge commanded.

"Angider use flamethrower." Takuya countered.

Thunderbolt and flamethrower both colloid with each other.

"Is thunderbolt the only thing this guy knows to say." Yami commented.

Takuya sweat dropped at what she heard, luckily no one else heard it and Koyuki rolled her eyes.

"Use electro ball now!" Magnemite launched a ball of electricity at Charmander.

"Agni use smoke screen." Takuya said. Agnider fired haze of black smoke from his mouth covering the whole battle field with thick smoke and the electro ball misses its target.

Lt. Surge ordered Magnemite to use sonic boom clearing the smoke, but Charmander was nowhere to be seen.

Takuya quickly told Agnider to use fire spin, Agnider fired a fire spin attack surrounding the magnet Pokémon so it couldn't escape and the last attack he use close rage ember attack hitting Magnemote with a direct attack.

Magnemite couldn't handle anymore fire type attacks and it fainted, flooring onto the ground with swirling eyes.

Agnider won, meaning that Takuya is the winner of the gym.

"Yes! We won!" Takuya cheered.

"Char, Charmander, Char!" Agnider cheered as well along with Yami and Koyuki.

Lt.Surge sighs and returned his magnet Pokémon back and walked over to Takuya and her Pokémon.

"I congratulate you Takuya," Lt.Surge said, "you gave me a wonderful battle." He held out his hand to Takuya.

"Thank you Lt.Surge for the shocking battle." Takuya said, "Its my second time though."

"Second? What do you mean?"

"My first shocking battle was with Volkner the Sinnoh region gym leader, who acts like an older brother to me along with Flint of course."

Lt. Surge chuckled, "Volkner huh? I heard about him becoming the gym leader the youngest and along with Flint member of the Elite four." He rustled Takuya's hair, who was annoyed by it, "So your their little sister."

"Yep." Takuya chirped.

Lt. Surge chuckled once more and handed out a yellow and orange, eight pointed star shape badge. "This is the Thunder Badge." He said giving it to Takuya, "You deserve this."

Takuya of course accepted it and everyone clapped for her.

After receiving the Thunder Badge, Takuya has decided to sight see Vermilion City before they continued the journey.
