[005] Takuya's First Gym Battle; Pewter Gym Rock Battle!
Travelling through the forest was quite a time for Takuya and her Pokémons, Viridian Forest was big on so getting lost which was a issue for Takuya, since she can easily get lost.
Same good thing do happen though the forest, Takuya caught a Scyther and Metapod who evolved into Butterfree through training, she made a new friend who is named Samurai and battle each other with Takuya as the winner.
When Takuya reached Pewter City, she was exhausted and tired.
"Phew, I thought that we will never going to get out off that forest." Takuya said.
"I know what you mean." Yami agreed, "I thought that the forest was moving too."
"I'm tired~" Tsuki whine. "Lets hit the Pokémon Centre first."
Takuya agreed and they headed straight to the Pokémon Centre to get some rest.
Takuya gave her Pokémons to Nurse Joy right away, to make sure that her Pokémon were in tip top shape for the gym tomorrow.
"Thank you Nurse Joy." Takuya said.
"Thank nothing of it Takuya." Nurse Joy smiled.
Takuya blinked, "Huh? How do you know my name?" She asked looking around, "This isn't Viridian City."
"My sister told me about you." Nurse Joy answered, "She even told me about the encounter of Team Rocket. Oh and there's a poster on the wall beside me you should see."
The poster said that the Indigo League was going to be held this year.
"Wow, I'm so going to enter the tournament." Takuya said excitedly.
While Takuya's Pokémon were recovering, she thought it was a good time to relax and found out what to do after she finished her first gym.
After gathering her Pokémon, Takuya headed right for the Pewter Gym.
The Pewter Gym was a building made out of giant grey some, forming the shape of the gym dome.
"Wow the gym sure gives it away on what type the gym leader uses." Yami commented, in disguise as a Pichu form.
"No kidding." Tsuki agreed.
"Well here I go." Takuya said as she pushed opened the door and entered.
"Who goes there?" A voice said from inside the dark area of the gym.
"My name is Takuya and I am here to challenge your gym to win a badge." Takuya spoke up.
"Very well." The voice said and the lights turned on, as the person stepped out the shadows, "I'm the gym leader Brock and I accept your challenge."
Brock lead Takuya to the battle field, the battle field was a sandy floor with big pointy rocks in it.
"This battle between Brock the Pewter Gym leader and Takuya Sky of Pallet Town." The Referee announced, who Brock quickly introduced as his younger brother Forrest, "Both challenges will be using three Pokémon each and first one to defeat all three Pokémon wins! Let the battle begin!"
"Alright than Ciro show them your strength!" Takuya released her giant bird Pokémon.
"Pidgeo!" He chirped.
"A Pidgeotto huh?" Brock said amused, 'That Pidgeotto can't be normal, especially with that size.' He thought, 'But doesn't she know that rock beat flying.' "Go Geodude!" He released a gray boulder Pokémon. It has bulging, rocky eyebrows and trapezoidal, brown eyes. Its arms are muscular with five-fingered hands.
"Geo." It said.
Takuya checked the Pokémon on her Pokédex:
🔹Geodude, the Rock Pokémon.
Geodude has incredibly high defensive power, making it virtually resistant to any physical attacks.
Brock ordered his Geodude to do attack with rock throw but Takuya told her Ciro to use aerial ace to dodge the rocks.
Takuya told Ciro to use sand attack to slow down Geodude and then she told Pidgeotto to use steel wing continuously on Geodude which work after six steel wing attack Geodude fainted.
"Geodude is unable to battle!" Forrest called out. "This battle goes to Pidgeotto!"
Brock was amazed with Takuya's battle strategy. 'She taught her Pokémon a move that beats rock types,' he thought, 'this kid is good but let's see how good.' "Okay Geodude return." Brock said, "Go Rhyhorn!" He called out a rhinoceros-like creature with a body covered in gray, rocky plates. Its underside and rear are smooth, and it has four short legs with two claws on each foot. It has a triangular head with narrow, red eyes, two fangs protruding from its upper jaw, and small, triangular openings on the upper sides. A spiked ridge runs along its back, and it has a single short horn on the tip of its snout.
"Rhyhorn!" It said.
Takuya checked her Pokédex:
🔹Rhyhorn, the Spike Pokémon.
Rhyhorn is known for its physical power and its considerable offensive and defensive skills.
"This might be interesting. Ciro return!" Takuya recalled her bird Pokémon, "Kardos show them your strength!" She released her mantis Pokémon.
"Scyther!"
"Rhyhorn use horn attack!" Brock shouted. Rhyhorn charged at Scyther with its horn attack.
"Kardos, use agility to dodge than steel wing." Takuya said. Kardos vanished with agility and he reappeared with his wings glowing metallic colour, he flew down quickly attacking the spike Pokémon with its wing.
Brock told Rhyhorn to use flamethrower, Takuya eyes widen she wasn't expecting that and she quickly told Kardos to use protect. Kardos brought a greenish barrier around himself saving him from the flames.
Brock quickly told Rhyorn to use flamethrower again, the flames hit Kardos this time but Kardos didn't give up, his scythes glowed metallic colour and he hit Rhyhorn making him weak.
"That's move was metal claw." Takuya said, "Kardos unlocked one of his egg move metal claw!"
"Scyther!" Kardos smirked.
"Not good." Brock said, he wasn't expecting Scyther egg move to be a steel type attack.
Takuya then told Kardos to use metal claw again, the metal claw attack hit three times making Rhyhorn faint.
Takuya was the winner of the second match.
"That was close." Takuya sighs. "I got lucky that Kardos unlocked metal claw."
"Meh." "Pi." Tsuki and Yami both sigh as well.
"Good job Rhyhorn, you deserved a good rest." Brock returned his spike Pokémon back, "Its time to end this. Go Onix!" He called out a Pokémon that resembles a giant chain of grey boulders that becomes smaller towards the tail, there is a rocky spine in its head and a pair of black eyes right beneath it.
"Roarrr!" It roared.
Takuya checked her Pokédex:
🔹Onix, the Rock Snake Pokémon.
By twisting its large body and powerf body, Onix can quickly bore through the ground at fifty miles per hour.
"Kardos return!" Takuya recalled her mantis Pokémon back, to rest up. "Battle of the serpents than. Mystic show them your strength!" She released her aqua water serpent Pokémon.
"Grr!" She roared.
Brock began to sweat, 'Your kidding me! Really a Gyarados and a rare colour one to the boot! Not many beginning trainers can capture a Gyarados, due to their violent nature.' He thought. 'This battle is going to be tough.' "Onix use sandstorm!" Brock said.
Takuya countered sand storm with twister, then she quickly ordered Mystic to use dragon pulse.
Dragon pulse hits its mark, making Onix weak.
Brock was trying to get his head around the move that Takuya Pokémon just use. 'This girl is no joke at all, her Pokémon are indeed strong. Takuya trained her Pokémon well.' He thought sweating a bit and snapped out of his thought when Onix was hit again with a dark pulse. "Onix!" He shouted, "Quick Onix! Rock throw now!"
"Mystic lets end this with iron tail!" Takuya shouted.
Mystic tail glowed metallic colour and she swag it, hitting Onix directly and since iron tail is a steel type move, while Onix is a rock type making it super effective. Onix fainted.
"Onix is unable to battle!" Forrest called out to everyone, "Gyarados is the Winner! Therefore the winner of this Gym Battle is Takuya!"
"Alright we did it!" Takuya cheered and hugged Mystic. "Thanks Mystic we won our first gym battle."
"Grrr!" Mystic roared softly.
When the gym battle was over Brock shook hands with Takuya.
"Takuya you gave me a great battle." Brock said, "Usually trainers would use water and grass Pokémon to defeat me, but you using a flying, bug and water though you never did call out any water type moves, impressive to do."
"Thanks a lot Brock." Takuya smiled, "I could of use my water Pokémon and grass Pokémon but I wanted to test my Pokémon against there disadvantages. I told myself that I won't use any water or grass type moves or Pokémon, therefore the option was having my Pokémon learnt steel type move and it works best since rock are weak against steel."
"I see." Brock smiled, finally someone understands, "Well you certainly trained your Pokémon great." He said and held out the Pewter Gym badge. "Therefore I give you the Boulder Badge."
The Boulder Badge is grey octagon shape badge.
"Thank you Brock." Takuya said claiming her first badge. "Alright we got the Boulder Badge!"
"Meh, meh!" "Pi, Pichu!" Tsuki and Yami cheered.
After having Ciro, Mystic and especially Kardos checked up at the Pokémon Centre and calling her older brothers on how she won her first gym, Takuya decide it was time to leave Pewter City and head to her second gym.
"Well that was interesting and amazing." Yami commented, "That first gym was sure tough."
"I agree, especially that Rhyhorn with its flamethrower." Tsuki said, "That was unexpected."
"I have a feeling that the gym leaders taught their Pokémon moves to counter against the trainer Pokémons they use in advantage." Takuya explained. "We can't let our guard down one bit."
"Okay." Tsuki and Yami nodded.
So now that Takuya has won her first gym badge it was now time to continue on her journey.
