~Chapter 65~

~Elizabeth's Pov~

Once inside of the infirmary it looked as if Kaida was ready for us and even knew we were coming. She was standing there smiling at the two of us. "Ready for the check-up then?" she asked in a joyful tone. I nodded while I noticed Meliodas was looking around the room. He seemed to have his guard up yet again. Though I was confused and nearly went to question it, I remembered that worrying about things could easily in-danger the baby. Kaida took me and Meliodas to one of the beds before pulling the curtain around to block anyone's view.

She walked over, getting me to lay on the bed while performing spells. Meliodas stood right next to the bed, staying close as he could to me. After each spell, Kaida would smile and inform us both the baby was extremely healthy before writing things down on a checkboard. Meliodas looked in pure relief while I only smiled happily. Seemed me being around both Zeldris and Estarossa really did help out after all. I really couldn't help but be grateful for that. "Seems you're about to hit week nine on a normal pregnancy tomorrow" Kaida then informed us.

Her own voice sounded like she was highly impressed. Meliodas also looked in pure shock. Week nine in fourteen days. I never heard of a pregnancy ever being so fast. Then again I only ever heard about normal human pregnancies being 9 months long. Merlin and everyone else told me about how this would be much faster. Zeldris and Kaida both explained how that meant my child was going to be very powerful. Estarossa was the only one to claim this meant the child was taking over Meliodas, I heard from many people that Meliodas was powerful after all...

I wonder what this would mean for the future...what this power would hold for our child. Kaida was giving Meliodas another large list of things to do for me while entering the ninth week. From what she was saying it was more important now than ever to ensure I didn't worry about anything, get scared or too upset. I didn't know that much about the facts on pregnancy, it made me wonder if there were any books on it. I knew most were most likely not going to relate to the fact mine was going to be half demon but some facts would've been nice.

Once Kaida gave Meliodas her list she then asked me some questions, getting me to answer each one with pure honest answers. Most of them were about my time with Zeldris, Gelda and Estarossa. I noticed Meliodas was listening to my words very carefully. I made sure not to talk about the question and honest answer game we played. "Well, everything seems to be going smoothly and it's all looking to be in good health so you can go. In the next couple of weeks, I will need to do another checkup since the speed of the pregnancy is only rising" Kaida then informed both me and Meliodas.

I nodded, a small smile growing on my face. Kaida left, still writing on the clipboard while I sat up. Meliodas moved to be in front of me, kissing my forehead. I felt my smile only grow. "Let me show you your birthday gift" Meliodas then spoke offering me his hand. I nodded taking it before standing up and off the infirmary bed. Meliodas lead the way, keeping me extremely close to his side. Slowly I had noticed there seemed to be more people inside the castle. By people, I meant demons of course.

There were more than normal, many looked like guards. I did want to question it but Kaida's warning about keeping me happy and far from anything that could worry, scare or upset me echoed around my head. I knew out of anything protecting mine and Meliodas' child came first. Ever since breakfast, Meliodas didn't show anymore worried or upset thinking but the way people were acting around the two of us now...it was far different than before. That alone made me knew there was something going on around here.

I wasn't sure what it was but I knew now...I couldn't ask about it. I had to put my own curiosity behind me and focus more on my child. "Meliodas!" I heard Gloxinia's voice echo around the hallway. It got Meliodas and me to stop walking, turning our heads to see the demon who helped the Fairy Clan. I had only met them that once but Derieri and Meliodas seemed to trust him. "What is it Gloxinia?" Meliodas asked raising an eyebrow. The male who looked more like a girl was out of breath in front of us.

"The war...it's gotten worse" he then spoke between deep breaths. It was easy to hear the worry and fear in his voice. I was in shock more than anything. Meliodas pulled me into him, wrapping an arm around me. My forehead and hands now leaning on his chest. My body felt as if it couldn't control itself. My eyes had closed while my head snuggled more into his chest. "Explain" Meliodas ordered while Gloxinia finally had caught his breath completely. The war...I didn't think it was even possible to be worse than it already was.

"The Fairy, Gaint and Human Clans have all turned on each other. All three are attacking each other while somehow being able to send armies to attack what areas we control near their territory" Gloxinia then explained, the worry only growing within his voice. Meliodas let out an annoyed 'tisk' while his grip around me only tightened. The three clans...turned on each other? How? Why? King wouldn't dare do that with the Fairy Clan. Diane wouldn't ever turn on King either! I wasn't around them for long but...

I saw her Diane looked at him. I saw how King looked at her. They wouldn't dare do that to each other. "The Fairy King has gone missing on top. It seems the Fairy Clan have proof the Giant Clan did something to him. If this keeps up they could end up killing each other off for good. They could end up committing mass genocide" Gloxinia then added. I heard the worry had turned into pure fear. My eyes widened hearing his words. Meliodas was quiet. He must've been thinking. Gloxinia was soon begging Meliodas to help him save his little sister.

He was begging him with everything he had. Offering anything he could. Even his own life and soul. "Gloxinia call a meeting with the Ten Commandments. Make sure both my brothers attend this time" Meliodas then spoke getting Gloxinia to thank him over and over again before rushing off. I finally moved my head back slightly looking up at Meliodas. It was easy to see he was in deep thought. He then looked at me. "Don't worry. I will handle this" Meliodas whispered before kissing my forehead yet again.

I knew he would. I knew he would keep his word. I felt my smile return. "Now then, before that meeting, I have a gift to show you" Meliodas then spoke a smile growing on his own face. It felt weird. Having a birthday gift. Having someone who actually cares about celebrating my birthday even. Meliodas had led the way to our bedroom before getting me to sit on the bed. It almost felt like when he gave me the earring. Meliodas opened his hand getting a black gift box to show in his hand. I had almost forgotten that demons wielded great amounts of magic and abilities.

Meliodas sat next to me, passing me to the box before moving some of my hair behind my ear. I removed the lid of the box, opening it to see a silver-plated rose. The steam and leaves were all made of pure silver, the leafs holding incredible detailing to give it a realistic look. The petals of the rose were a bright red, the silver steam/leafs helping the petals stand out. My face must've lit up in seconds. I couldn't help but be amazed by it. Meliodas chuckled seeing the reaction on my face. "I take it you like it?" he then asked getting me to look at him.

The smile on my face growing. "I love it" I answered with a bigger smile than before. Meliodas' own smile only grew as he then pulled me into a short but sweet kiss. One of his hands going onto my cheek. "Good" he whispered once he had pulled away, keeping his face close to mine. Meliodas went to pull me into another kiss until his demonic mark started glowing. He let out an annoyed 'tisk' like earlier before moving his head back. "I need to go to that meeting. It won't take long" Meliodas then informed me.

He was soon to become the Demon King. I had to get used to the fact he would get busy with these meetings. I nodded before thanking him for the gift. Meliodas gave me a quick kiss before leaving. My eyes went back onto the rose. I picked it up, out of the box before placing the box next to me on the bed. I couldn't help but look at it carefully but the longer I did, the bigger my smile only grew.
