-Chapter 48-
~Elizabeth's Pov~
Breakfast was very silent. None of the brothers would talk to each other at all once the food was served. Gelda and I would talk every so often, sometimes even Hawk and I would give some small talk. Sadly it always ended up into a room filled and smothered by silence. It was strange, unknown and lastly confusing. Estarossa would do anything to upset Meliodas but yet soon as food hit the table they just suddenly stopped bothering with each other. It almost felt like a scene from the books I read.
Different. Very different to say the least. Once I finished eating, Meliodas took me and Hawk and left the room. Meliodas had his arm around me, holding me close to him while Hawk was walking in front of us. "Your brothers are super scary Meliodas!" Hawk spoke, the fear showing in his tone of voice. Meliodas sighed before kissing my forehead. Hawk wasn't really wrong. I was scared of Estarossa. Zeldris seemed more calm and collective, so I wasn't that uneasy around him. "The only threat in that room is Estarossa" Meliodas whispered under his breath.
I raised an eyebrow looking at him. Hawk soon turned his head. "So what are we going to do today?" Hawk soon asked. The fear slowly leaving his voice. Meliodas closed his eyes while I ended up leaning my head on his shoulder. I wasn't sure why but I couldn't help but enjoy being close to Meliodas, even more than I used to. Was it because I was pregnant? That was when the sickness kicked back in. I moved my arms fast, one hugging around me while the other went over my mouth. Meliodas soon stopped our walking, checking me.
Hawk was asking worried questions fast as well. Meliodas picked me up in a close princess hold, taking me to the closest bathroom. Hawk following. I was trying my hardest not to throw up then and there. I really wasn't enjoying this sickness very much. "C-can we go back to our room?" I asked quietly, mumbling through my hand. Meliodas kissed my forehead again. He whispered 'of course' to me before changing direction. Hawk was staying close by. "Is this meant to be normal?" Hawk asked in a worried tone.
"Yes, it's called morning sickness" Meliodas answered getting Hawk to slowly nod. Hawk seemed to understand what was going on with me afterwards. Hawk was a lot smarter than he looked. My body, as if it was a natural instinct, snuggled into Meliodas. My hand still over my mouth while my other hand was now on my stomach. I really didn't want to throw up again. It wasn't long until Meliodas had taken me back to our room, placing me on the bed. Hawk stood nearby, looking as if he wanted to help in some way.
I was sitting up on the bed, taking deep breaths. Meliodas sitting right next to me, a hand on my cheek. "You're doing an amazing job, Elizabeth" Meliodas whispered to me. I couldn't help but end up smiling. Slowly the sickness started to pass. Meliodas moved his hand off my cheek to place it on my stomach. I couldn't help but smile more. Meliodas smiled at me in return. "Wait, I heard that as a demon you can hear the baby's heartbeat inside of Elizabeth?"Hawk soon asked, making me look at Meliodas in shock.
"Yes, that is true. When my hand is on Elizabeth's stomach I can hear the heartbeat only blood relations to the child can do so" Meliodas then explained. My eyes lit up in seconds. Derieri didn't mention it in our short lesson in the country manor. There was still so much about demons that I didn't know, so much that I wanted to learn. "Normally you're meant to hear the heartbeat on the fifth week but on the seventh week, it becomes more of a normal sound heartbeat" Meliodas then informed us.
Fifth week? Already? It's only been eight days since I fell pregnant. I knew the child's power would speed up the pregnancy but I didn't really think it would be by THIS much. Kadia had reason to be in shock and worry that morning I was rushed into the infirmary. "So have you guys thought of any names yet?" Hawk soon asked, his eyes lighting up. He sounded so excited for this child, then again back in the Human Clan, anytime a woman would get pregnant they would be swarmed by other women asking questions like this.
It was weird and I used to think it was unneeded. Then again I still felt the same about it in some ways. If a giant group of unknown woman did that to me, I would've been scared for my life. My shy nature always did that to me but growing up I was always alone. I didn't want that for my child. I wanted them to have friends, not be scared to talk to others. "Well, Elizabeth and I agreed that I would think of girl names while she would think of boy names" Meliodas explained getting Hawk to look more excited.
Meliodas was looking at my stomach, the smile on his face growing. His felt his thumb moving gently on my stomach. He was able to hear our child's heartbeat. I was almost jealous in a way. I couldn't wait to meet our child. To find out what type of person they would grow to be. I knew that being Meliodas' wife, his queen that I would need to provide at least two children. In my lessons back in the Human Clan, being a forgotten princess meant to be married off to another kingdom. To marry a king and provide at least two children, more if able.
After all, every ruler needs an heir. I wanted this child to have the things I didn't have. A family who loves them. A family who would be there for them, a family who wouldn't forget them. "So any name ideas you got already?? It's never too early to think about it!" Hawk spoke getting me to smile. I moved my hand onto Meliodas'. I knew between me and Meliodas, our child would be loved. I knew that I wouldn't treat my child the same as my 'family' taught me. "I thought of, Marcellus. It means 'Little Warrior'" I answered in a normal tone voice getting Meliodas to look up at me.
His smile only grew more. "I've never heard that name before" Hawk spoke, his eyes lighting up.
