Ch.4 | A Life Changing Order

Few years later- When Ed and Al go to meet father Cornelio. (Sp?) She's a year younger than Ed, I forgot how old Ed was around this time. If you know, just take away a year and that's how old Allison is. For now, I think Ed's 15 while Al and Ali are 14. If you know how old Ed really is, please tell me! Oh and I bumped Roy's age down a bit. He's not in the thirties anymore, he's around 16. Riza is too.

Allison's View

I stamped another document for Major Hughes. He was too busy spending time with his wife, doing who knows what. Somehow I fell for his puppy eyes and ended up doing all his documents, and did he have a mountain of them. Let's just say when I opened the door I almost drowned in papers.

A small knock on the door burst my line of thought.

"Enter." I said, stamping more papers or signing Major Hughes name on them.

"Lieutenant, Rose. Colonel Mustang wishes to see you in his office." Riza said, calling me by the name I earned over at the military for my alchemy. Blood alchemy, one of my uses for my alchemy is making crimson red roses out of blood, my own blood and the blood of others.

I sighed, "I'll be there in a few minutes, thank you." I said, and then looked up at her. "Oh, and Riza...I told you to call me by my name. Please, you're making me feel much older than I am now."

She laughed, "You ruin my fun Allison. You have to admit, you like feeling my age." Riza smirked.

"I do it for a reason, I don't want to feel old yet, you know. I'm barely a teen, I don't need to be old like you and Roy are." I whined, "Anyways, can you finish the rest of Major Hughes' a papers for me till I get back?"

Riza nodded and took the papers out my hands; "I got it, go on." She ushered me off.

I ran out the room, "Thanks Riza!" I shouted over my shoulder

"No problem, Rose!"

My eye twitched. She never listens, does she? I knocked on Roy's door, his deep intimidating voice welcoming me in. "Come in."

I pushed the doors open, walking in front of Roy's desk.

"Colonel, you called for me?" I asked, standing up perfectly straight.

He nodded with his hands under his chin, "Yes, I have a mission for you. It's fairly simple." Roy stated, his dark onyx eyes piercing me.

A mission?

I rose an eye brow, "What is this mission exactly, colonel?" I asked.

"I need you to find a certain boy, we call him Fullmetal. He's a state alchemist just like you. I want you to protect him at all costs. Currently he's researching and going around for any information about the philosophers stone." My eyes widened, "knowing it's important to you to, I thought I'd give you the chance to find information on it as well." Roy explained, "You accept this mission, am I correct?"

I nodded, "Thank you, sir. I know this will help surely help me to find a thread to getting my body back." I stated.

"Oh, you won't need your military uniform either. We need you to go undercover, you'll go as Rose. Don't let him find out your true name just yet, after all he won't like that a girl is traveling with him. So wear your normal attire you would wear any day." Roy stated.

I'll wear my traveling clothes.

"I understand. But, how long is exactly going to take? Am I staying with him for a certain amount of time?" I asked, firmly.

Roy tensed and look anywhere but at me. I bit my lip. I had a bad feeling about this.

"One to two years at most, or longer."

I gasped, that's to long! The whole military, Roy, Riza, Hughes! They were all my family now. I don't remember what happened to my real family. Roy told me I hit my head pretty hard when he first brought me to central, explaining my memory loss. All I had was a picture of two blonde boys, a tall blonde man, a brunette, a small blonde girl along with another blonde haired girl and a short old lady who was smoking. I can't quite remember who they are, but every time I looked at the photo. A nagging feeling always came to me, telling me to remember.

I glared at Roy, "That's to long Roy! I can't just leave you my duties like that. I belong here... You guys are my only family! Please, don't make me stay for that long!" I shouted, anger evident in my voice.

Roy glared back. "This isn't a choice, it's an order from an higher up! Me! You will obey my orders whether you like it or not! That is final." He barked.

I flinched back, with tears pricking my eyes. I walked up to Roy and pulled him down to my height.

"Listen here, Mustang. I'm not leaving my only family for some damn kid, even if he has some leads on the philosopher stone. I will not leav-"

My face flew to the side. I reached towards my stinging cheek. Roy slapped me. Tears unconsciously trailed their way down my cheeks. I backed away from Roy, not before looking at him. His face held regret and anger. I ran out the door and straight to my apartment.

"Rose!"

I ignored his calls for me, and jumped through the window of my home. Falling back on the bed, my tears flowed out much after than before, all my feelings coming out at once.

Knock knock.

"Rosie, it's me Hughes." Hughes' voice rung in my ears, and a sudden urge made me want to open the door for him. I held it in.

"Rosie darling, open up, please. It's me, Mr. Bubbly remember? You called me that right when we met, don't make Mr. Bubbly sad, he will cry then."

I sniffled. Wiping my eyes with the back of my hand, I opened the door.

"Yo-You're an idiot, you know that?" I croaked, staring up at his worried face.

He embraced me tightly, "Rosie, don't cry... Roy didn't mean to make you mad, he had to do what he had to do. Those were his orders..." Hughes whispered.

I pushed him back angrily, "Still! He could at least understand how I feel about leaving my family! H-He even smacked me, Hughes! He hit me!" I yelled, making more tears fall.

Hughes grabbed my shoulder, and looked me in the eye. "Allison! Listen to me! Roy didn't want to give out that order, but he had to! Please Rosie, think about how Roy feels about sending you away. He hates hurting you, you two are closer than you think you are. Especially to him, he cares about you, he doesn't want to lose you." Hughes explained, "can you go apologize to him? He's beating himself up pretty bad right now, you running off on him made him blame himself for everything."

I stared at him shocked, but nodded. "I...I will. I'm sorry. I didn't know I hurt him... I'll apologize now... Thank you, Hughes. I'm glad that I met such a great father figure like you in my life." I whispered, and hugged him.

He hugged back, running his fingers through my hair. "No problem Rosie, just know if your ever hurt again come to me." He said.

"I will." I smiled.

He lifted me up and swung me around. "Oh! Gracia will be very happy when I tell her we got a daughter!! Oh my little Rosie poo, daddy is going to take care of you and love you so much!!" Hughes yelled having a, uh, mood swing.

I shrieked, and tried pushing him away. "Hughes! Put me down, please! I need to go to Roy!" I pleaded, getting dizzy from being flung around like a doll.

"Awww daddy's little girl is being so mean to me!! I'm telling Roy!" Hughes yelled with a pout.

I twitched. He's being so immature.

"Ugh...why me... " I muttered under my breath.

Here's go nothing.

"Daddy! Rosie wants to see Roy but your not letting her!" I whined with fake tears.

Hughes stopped, "Oh Rosie is right, daddy should let his little girl go to Roy, huh. Well go on. Go on Rosie poo, daddy will miss you." 'Daddy' waved.

"Um, thanks daddy...." I said and ran off before he could lay another finger on me.

I made it to Roy's door panting like crazy, I ran here as fast as I could just to make sure Hughes wasn't following me. I reached out to knock. I froze and backed up. I can't do this. I can't! I don't have the guts to apologize to Roy. He's beating himself up pretty bad right now. You running off on him made him blame himself for everything. Roy... I knocked, "Enter." Roy's voice ordered.

Walking in I faced Roy boldly, but really I was hesitating and begging myself to turn back and run.

"Oh, it's you... What do you want?" Roy snarled.

I winced at his tone, "Oh, well.... I just wanted to-"

"To what? Tell me you don't want to do the mission you're assigned to!" Roy barked.

"No!" I yelled, "No... I wanted to apologize..."

Roy went stiff. I took that as a sign to continue.

"Hughes talked to me... He knocked some sense into me, I was stupid for acting rationally, I admit it. I didn't know that you cared for me so much. Being my stupid self I didn't see how much I hurt you... Will you forgive me, colonel?" I asked.

Roy stood up walking to me, his face was filled with rage. I closed my eyes, waiting for him to hit me again. Nothing ever came, nothing but arms wrapping themselves around my small body. My eyes flew open as I stared at Roy's tall form dumbfounded.

"Just Roy, don't call me colonel. Allison, I forgive you..." I smiled. "I need to thank Hughes later, if it weren't for him. I wouldn't be able to apologize either." Roy said.

"But Roy, it was my fault. You don't need to apolo-" I was cut off by his finger to my lips.

He smirked, "Be quiet, I'm talking." Roy said, "I'm sorry, Allison. I shouldn't have slapped you, just because I was angry that isn't a reason to slap someone. Now, will you forgive me?"

I pouted and moved his finger away. "Yes, I forgive you Roy." I smiled sweetly.

He smiled, the smile he showed to me, Riza, and Hughes only.

"Good." He said, "I'll miss you. Be safe and come back to visit us, alright?"

I pounced on Roy, knocking him to the floor.

"I will visit you as soon as I can! Don't worry, without out you guys... I'll go crazy, all of you keep me sane." I whispered in the crook of his neck.

"We better keep you same. We wouldn't want to lose you now, would we?" Roy chuckled beneath me.

"Y-Yeah..!" I laughed with a blush, taking notice of our position.

He sat up, so I'm pretty much in his lap. Roy's hands latched on my waist and he lifted me up off him, he kept a hold on me when he stood up. I flailed my legs around to at least try to reach the ground.

"Stop moving so much, shorty." Roy teased.

I got an anger mark, "Who are you calling so small you can see them under a microscope!" I yelled.

Roy sweat dropped, "I didn't say any of that, I said-. Oh never mind, go to your apartment and get whatever you need. I'll meet you at the train station." Roy said.

I nodded. Time to get ready.

Once I arrived at the station, I gasped in awe almost dropping my bag filled with weapons of sorts. Maes, Gracia, Riza, Maria, Jean, Roy, and even Armstrong all waiting for we with big smiles.

"Surprise!" Maes shouted whole the others stayed silent. "Oh you guys don't know how to have fun.."

"Haha. What are you guys doing here? Roy, you said you were coming. Not everyone." I said.

They all frowned. "Is this okay with you?" He asked.

I wiped my face of emotion. "No, it's... Perfect!" I shouted throwing my arms around his neck. He stumbled.

"Woah, woah, woah. Whys Roy getting all the sugar?" Jean whined, spreading his arms open.

I hugged him to, "there, you happy Havoc!" I teased.

"Yup!" He chirped and ruffled my hair.

I hugged everyone, one by one. They all said their goodbyes or gave me some advice for the road. I saved Roy for last though, he was the one I was going to miss the most. I walked to Roy smiling brightly.

"I see you saved me for last." Roy said smirking deviously.

I grinned, "That I did, colonel."

He sighed, "it's Roy. But, may I ask why I'm last?" He asked, his eyebrows raised asking for an answer.

I blushed and fiddled with the hem of my shirt. "Your the one I'm going to miss the most..." I muttered.

"What we that? I couldn't quite hear you." Roy mused.

I groaned, "You the one I'm going to miss the most.." I said loud and clear.

"I think my hearing is getting bad, I couldn't hear you. Say it again?" He teased.

Everyone had left by now, leaving Roy and I alone.

I growled, "You're the one I'm going to miss the most god dammit!" I shouted as I blushed.

Roy smirked, "Oh so I heard correctly the first time, thanks for repeating it though. I'll miss you to, Allison. You don't know how hard it's going to be without you by my side, who's going to help me with paperwork now?" Roy said.

I grinned, "jerk. You'll get used to it, you have Maes, and he'll stay by your side. I know it." I stated.

The train whistled signaling it would be departing in 5 minutes.

"Looks like our times coming to an end." Roy said.

"It seems like it is, Roy." I sighed.

"Allison, come here." Roy wrapped his arms around me.

"Roy get off, I have to leave." I stated.

"Allison." Roy mumbled.

"What is it Roy?" I asked, curiously.

"I love you." He declared.

"Oh, I love you to Roy! Friends forever right?" I smiled.

"Yeah, friends forever..." Roy whispered with a frown.

"Great, bye Roy! I'll miss you!" I shouted and pecked his cheek.

His hand flew to his cheek as he gained a small shade of pink on his face.

"Bye..."

I hopped on the train right as it was about to leave, I sighed. I wonder how it is in Eastern Ametris, Reole.-----------------------

Her traveling clothes is what the girl in the picture is wearing.
