4| Little Shinobi
[ Next Day ]
Iruka's P.O.V
Reina was still very bothered that Kakashi was gone and had left without telling her a single thing. In all honesty, I think she was expecting some form of a goodbye from him. She really did care about him. I sighed and walked around the kitchen, placing the clean dishes where they belong.
"Daddy."
My eyes widened. I looked over my shoulder at Reina, "Yes, Reina?" I asked curiously.
She fidgeted around nervously, "I wanna be a shinobi like you and dad." She admitted, her eyes shining with confidence. "I want to go out with you and dad when you have missions, s-so I'll fight too!"
My eyes widened even more. Where was this coming from? Was this because of what I told her yesterday regarding the Will of Fire? My eyes softened upon realization that it was my fault Reina was having these types of ideas. I waved Reina over with my hand. She grinned and ran over to my with speed. She hopped onto my lap, looking up at me with hope in her eyes.
I took a deep breath, "Reina..." I breathed out.
"Yes?" She wondered, leaning closer to me, awaiting what I had called her over for.
A frown haunted my lips. What am I doing? What do I tell her? If I tell her that she can't be a shinobi quite yet and that she needs to wait until she's older, she's going to hate me. Then she'll really love Kakashi more than me. I bit my bottom lip. I could always allow her to do some things academy students are learning, but... I just couldn't bring myself too. She's far too young. Reina is just a child.
"Reina, you're---" I started, only to be cut off quickly.
"P-Please, daddy. I want to be strong like you and dad." She pleaded hoarsely.
I melted under her gaze, "Fine, but I'll only teach you how to use a shuriken for now. But you are not to tell your dad that we are doing this, okay? It's a secret!" I mused, holding a finger up to my lips.
"Yay! Shurikens!" Reina shouted in glee, jumping out of my lap and proceeding to run around the room.
I deadpanned. What have I started?

[ One Week later ]
Reina grunted in annoyance at the shuriken that hung out the tree stump rather than the target. She had missed the target by a good few inches. Reina's frown grew and she crossed her arms in frustration, looking over to me for help. I smiled lightly. I tussled her blue hair around, earning a groan from Reina.
We had been training for a week, but I've mainly verbally taught Reina how to use a shuriken. Today was the first actual day that she would be able to hold one and use it properly. I know it may seem like I'm being too cautious, but I was a teacher at the academy for a reason.
"Here," I offered, pulling a shuriken out of my weapon pouch. I held it between my fingers and showed her, watching her eyes widen at my gesture. "Try holding it like this and then you just need to..." I drawled on, aiming at the target.
She nodded and mimicked me. "Then once you do that, just flick it at the target with all your strength." I stated, flicking the kunai at the target, hitting it dead in the middle. Reina gasped. "Really, it's the practice that makes it perfect. It's alright if you're not able to get the target right---"
Reina caught me off guard by flinging the shuriken at the target. I jumped in shock. Instead of looking towards the target, I looked down at Reina and went to scold her. "You should let me finish before you act, Reina!" I scolded her.
"But--" She started.
"Reina!" I shouted.
"I just, I--"
"Hm, was that your first try?"
Reina and I both spun around to meet Kakashi's closed eye smile.
"Dad!" Reina shouted in glee, running over to him and wrapping her small arms around his legs. Kakashi placed his hand on her head and rubbed it slowly. "Look what I learned! Look! I threw a shuriken!"
"Yes, yes you did. Right in the middle, too." Kakashi noticed, walking over the the target and removing the shuriken from the middle.
I was stunned that she hit the target right in the middle for her first time actually throwing the shuriken. Usually it takes the academy students a few months to do what Reina just did. Kakashi showed me the shuriken, his eyes narrowed in curiosity.
"I'm surprised you were allowed to learn these types of things so soon."

"Kakashi, you need to hear me out. I didn't know what else to tell her. I could have said no, but that would have broke her heart and she needed this. You did leave without telling her and that hurt her!" I explained my reasoning behind teaching Reina how to use shurikens.
"I don't mind that you taught her how to use shurikens, I just find it oddly humorous how you scold me for taking her outside the village, yet here you are giving her weapons. I didn't expect this from you of all people, Iruka." He mused, his mask creasing with the smirk he had.
I threw a glare over at Kakashi, crossing my arms in frustration with the way the conversation was going. I made my way over to the couch, plopping myself down. I hung my head back and stared up at the ceiling, hoping that Kakashi would not pester on. I understood that I did something I normally wouldn't do, but there was no reason to brag about it.
I heard Kakashi taking steps towards me. I closed my eyes, doing my best to ignore him.
"Iruka."
I scowled and shut my eyes even harder.
"Iruka, open your eyes."
I shook my head, "No thank you." I mumbled.
"Fine, I'll leave you be. All I wanted was to thank you for taking care of our daughter while I was gone and for starting our little shinobi's career."
The door slammed shut. A smile grew onto to my lips, repeating the last few words Kakashi said in my head.
Our little shinobi's career.
Ours.
