A Not So Good Impression On A First Day
"Pssst.. (Name)..."
A voice whispered right near your ear. You groaned tiredly in response, hugging the blanket closer around you.
"(Naaaame)..."
Brows knitted together in annoyance, you gave another sleepy groan and snuggled in more to your soft pillow. The window was wide open, making the crisp morning breeze flow in. Chopper giggled quietly and poked your cheek repeatedly.
"(Name), get up or we'll be late for school..."
School? What was he talking about?
You opened an eye and stared at the alarm clock on your bedside table. It read 7:30 AM.
"WHAT?!" You screamed as you sat up, making Chopper yell in surprise and falling off the bed. "HOW DID IT GET THIS LATE?! I DIDN'T EVEN HEAR MY ALARM GO OFF!!"
Ace stood beside your bed with his hands in his pockets, glancing down at Chopper on the floor before looking back up at you with a sheepish grin. "Heh, sorry... I wanted to wake you up but..."
The three of you glanced at the alarm clock. Its top part was completely broken with the spring jutting out of the cover. You sweatdropped.
"Did... I do that..?" You meekly ask.
Ace and Chopper nodded.
"You're kind of scary when you do spontaneous kung fu half-asleep, (Name)..." Ace chuckled and gave Chopper a glance. "But right now I think you should get ready for school before both of you get scolded by the principal or something."
You blinked, eyes widen slightly, before bolting out of bed and rushing to the bathroom. The two could hear the shower turn on full blast and a scream about it feeling like hail slamming on your head.
Chopper went to your closet and opened it, looking through your clothes and pointing to your uniform already in a hanger. It was a white and blue sailor fuku.
Ace nodded and took it off the rack, laying it out on the bed so you could start dressing immediately after your shower. They waited patiently for you to finish everything you needed to do, before rushing downstairs and heading out to the car.
"Have fun, Chopper, (Name)!" Robin called from the front door as she waved you all off.
Franky grinned and gave a thumbs up to her, while you and Chopper waved goodbye as the house began to shrink away as they drove out of sight. "(Name), you nervous?" Franky asked out of the blue.
You gave a shy smile and shrugged, "Maybe, a little?"
Franky reassured you that everything would be alright. You hoped it would. And you hoped that you wouldn't get into trouble with that Kid person that Chopper had mentioned earlier.
You stared blankly ar the road. Ace had taken the window seat and you sat in between him and Chopper. You couldn't stop fumbling with the hem of your skirt, the uniform made you self-conscious after all. Ace took notice of this and gently rested his hand on your own. "Don't worry, you look great." He complimented, which made you relax more after remembering that he'll be with you throughout the entire time.
"Don't forget to be polite to your teachers, Chopper." Hiluluk reminded him. The man sat at the passenger's seat and smiled at the reflection of Chopper nodding from the sideview mirror.
If you could survive the first week of school without getting into anyone's way then you could probably make it through the rest of the school year unscathed. However there was one problem that had been bugging you for a while since you left the house.
How will you make any friends?
You have always been shy to introduced yourself first, so people always came to you. Either that or the teacher would introduce you to the entire class, that way you didn't need to bother with small talk of who you are or where you're from.
Sighing heavily in concern, your stomach began to feel weird from the worry. Were the students there even nice? You knew that there were some troublemakers in every class, what if you got tangled up in their mess? Your head began to spin slightly from thinking of it too much, and Ace looked at you anxiously and squeezed your hand to snap you out of it.
"Thanks," You murmur and gave a weak smile.
Franky stopped the car in front of the entrance to the school building. When did you even arrive?!
Feeling the nervousness welling up again, Ace kept hold of your hand as you stepped out of the car. "(Name), calm down. I'm right here, alright?" He reassured you softly as he glanced around for any students that you needed to avoid. You nod, taking quick breaths as Chopper guided you inside.
"I'll be back later after school to pick you guys up!" Franky said, then made a U-turn and left.
Chopper waved him off then turned to you standing frozen like a deer in headlights. "(Name)? You okay?" He asked gently.
"Seems like she has first day jitters." Hiluluk chuckled and smiled at you. "Not to worry though! You've got your friend with you, and that Straw Hat boy too!"
Straw Hat boy?
Oh, did he mean Luffy?
"(Name)! Hurry, we'll be late!" Chopper suddenly yelled after taking a look at the school clock tower. They had only 3 minutes before the first bell would ring. "We gotta hurry to the school auditorium!"
The two of you took off running with Chopper in the lead, though his little legs didn't seem to take him very far, so you picked him up and ran while asking for directions of where to go.
One minute before the bell would ring, and you and Chopper bursted through the doors, causing the entire student body to look at both of you dripping sweat down your foreheads.
"We... Made it!" Chopped panted and looked up, yelping as he saw the thousands of eyes staring.
You could feel the stares as well and swallowed a thick lump down your throat. Chopper sighed quietly and started walking to where his class was situated in, while you looked around helplessly for your own. The snickering of some students were very audible in the awkward silence and it made you feel slightly embarrassed.
Ace calmly searched the crowds for any student around your age and spotted a familiar Straw Hat boy waving at you while whisper-shouting your name. He leaned down to your ear and whispered softly, "Over there."
Following the point of his finger, your eyes locked with Luffy's and you breathed a sigh of relief.
Silently walking over to the line of his class, the teacher asked for your name and checked his attendance sheet, nodding after seeing your name listed down. You stood at the back of the girl's line where Luffy was right next to you. He whispered as quietly as he could, careful not to get caught.
"I'm glad we really got to be classmates, (Name)! This is gonna be fun!" He grinned.
You smiled sweetly and nodded in agreement, before looking around in search of another familiar face. "To your right," Ace whispered in your ear and you looked over at the direction he suggested.
A bored looking teenager stood in his line and yawned, then smirking at something his classmate whispered to him.
"Law is here too..." You mumbled, smiling a bit in relief that you knew someone from a different class.
Turning your attention to the front where the principal stood in front of a podium with a rather large school handbook of rules was displayed, you groaned inwardly. "This is going to be a long morning..."
