Informants

Batman pulled up a video, "This video was sent to the Justice League about two hours ago."

Batman played the video and someone Omen recognized as Vandal Savage showed up on the screen. "Hello Justice League, I'm sure you're wondering why we've decided to contact you. Well it's quite simple, we know about the assassin you've decided to work with and we decided to challenge you."

"If you can find us and beat us you can take us to jail, if you can't then millions of people will die. If you decide to not try and find us people will die anyway and you'll have no idea how to save them. If you decide to try and find us you'll need the assassin, without him you'll have no hope of finding us. You have forty eight hours, good luck."

All of the heroes looked a bit shocked while thoughts were racing through Omen's head. Batman turned to the team, "They're calling out Omen specifically, it's obvious that they have something planned but we don't know what." Everyone looked at Omen who seemed like he wasn't phased in the slightest by any of this.

Omen shrugged, "Well if they do then so be it, but you are the heroes and they threatened to kill people. Whether they have something planned or not doesn't matter if lives are in danger, isn't that how every hero speech goes? Well at least the gist of it does, of course I'm not a hero but I'm also not an idiot, you'll go after them either way."

Aqualad crossed his arms, "Apparently we'll also need your help to find them."

Omen shrugged, "Seems like it, I'll help but under one condition."

Batman raised an eyebrow, "And what would that be?"

"I do this my way, no one can tell me not to do something and I get to do what I want."

Batman thought for a moment, "If you go anywhere I want at least two people to go with you."

Omen shrugged, "Fine, as long as they don't get in my way I don't really care." Omen put his hands in his pockets while most of the heroes glanced at one another.

Batman nodded, "Fine, so what did you have in mind?"

Omen smirked, "I'm going to call in a few favors." Omen said he'd be back in a bit and he made the lights flicker before he left the mountain and retrieved his laptop. Omen was back at the mountain within ten minutes and Omen noticed that the other mentors, as well as Red Arrow, were there.

Omen looked at all of them, "Well this is going to be interesting, by the way, you can't arrest any of the contacts I use to help you." Omen opened his laptop and began typing as the heroes looked confused and Omen went to the living room. Omen seemed to be completely focused, he was more serious then any of them had ever seen him.

Omen was talking to one person after another, he'd have to do a bit of running around to get the information he needed. After taking over an hour to contact people he closed his laptop and looked at the heroes. "I've got to go to a few places to get some information, so who wants to go on a field trip?"

After several minutes of debating it was decided that three people would go with him to each location. For the first one he had to go to see an informant he didn't like all that much, he had to go to a bar. Superman, Aqualad, and Superboy were going with him for this one and Omen had to program the zeta tubes to take them to the city they needed to go too.

The town didn't have any heroes protecting it but a few stopped by to get information or find a criminal. Omen looked at the heroes, "Here's the deal, don't cause any trouble and let me handle everything. The people we're going to see don't really like heroes but they'll leave you alone as long as you don't piss them off."

With that warning they made their way to the bar Omen had to go to, hopefully the heroes wouldn't cause any trouble. They got to the bar and the heroes glanced at each other before Omen opened the door, everyone looked toward the door when it opened. When they saw Omen none of them would look him in the eye but they glared at the heroes.

Omen walked over to one of the tables and sat down across from the person sitting there. The chatter in the bar had already started again and the heroes stood near the table, the man Omen sat across from pretended they weren't there. "You're looking well, everyone thought your were dead since you suddenly disappeared, what the hell happened?"

Omen crossed his arms, "I'm here on business, not to chat, do you have the information or not?"

Paul put up his hands in surrender before taking a file out of his briefcase, "I couldn't find much. The information you asked for is hard to come by but I'm sure you can find what you need with all the contacts you have."

Omen looked over the file as he answered, "Save the small talk for someone who's willing to hear it."

Paul smirked, "I've known you for over a year, do you really think I'm scared of you?"

Omen looked at Paul, "If you're not then you're stupid, you know what happens to the people that get on my bad side." Paul paled a little and Omen put an envelope on the table and stood up, "Next time think about who you're talking to before you run your mouth Paul."

Omen started walking toward the front door and the heroes followed, they were a bit shocked. Once they were outside Omen took a deep breath, he really didn't like having to threaten people but he had to. Keeping up appearances was a must, even if he never wanted to kill anyone again, he had to keep being an assassin to people that knew him as a killer.

They went back to the zeta tubes and Omen went over the information as they continued to walk. It wasn't a lot but it was still helpful, now to get the next group of heroes and hope that the next informant had more information. They got to the mountain and Omen looked at the heroes, "So who's going with this time?"

Aquaman, Megan, and Kid flash were going with this time and Omen programmed the zeta tubes. The next informant was a woman he had worked for several times, she was a big deal in the crime industry. Omen went to her base and she was a bit surprised to see the heroes but she saw Omen and immediately calmed down.

Omen wouldn't let them arrest her or tell them how he knew her, he kept his word unlike most criminals. "Hello Scarlett, I'm sure you know why I'm here."

She nodded, "I don't know why you want this information but I owe you so I won't ask."

She grabbed a flash drive and she tossed it to Omen, he caught it as he smirked, "You know I always have a good reason."

She smiled, "I can't deny that, just don't die, I don't want to hear about your death because of whatever you're doing."

"I can't make any promises Scarlett." Omen tossed her an envelope and he left with the heroes right behind him, two down, two more to go. As soon as they got back to the mountain Omen got his laptop and quickly went through the information. He looked over the information and encrypted the files in case someone tried to look at what was on his computer.

He got the next group of heroes which were Martian Manhunter, Flash, and Artemis. The next location was a sewer, yes a sewer, one of his contacts lived in the sewer and Omen knew he was good at what he does. When Omen lead them to the sewer the heroes were surprised but Omen just jumped in without a second thought.

The heroes followed him and they soon came to what looked like a house in the sewers. Omen walked in and a man was inside, the man turned around and when he saw Omen he smiled. He was wearing a pair of goggles but he moved them so they were on his forehead.

"I'm a little surprised that you asked me for information, you only ask me if it's important."

Omen shrugged, "I've got my reasons, do you have the information?" The man nodded and handed Omen a flash drive, Omen handed him an envelope and he walked out. "Thanks T."

"Thank me after you come back alive, knowing you you'll do something either crazy or stupid."

"Bit of both actually." The man laughed and the heroes looked confused as they left the sewers.

Artemis crossed her arms as they walked back to the zeta tubes, "Who was that?"

"His names Tick, like a clock, he's good with electronics and he's good at getting information." The heroes gave him confused looks but Omen wouldn't say anything else so they just went back to the mountain. Omen got the last group of superheroes which was Robin, Batman, Red Arrow, and Green Arrow.

The last location wasn't like the others, Omen had agreed to a place to meet up with the last informant. Once they got to the abandoned warehouse, this one liked cliches, Omen opened the door and a woman was standing in the middle of the warehouse. Amari was standing there and when she saw Omen she smiled kindly at him, "Glad to see that you're not dead."

Omen smiled, "That could change at any moment and we both know it."

Amari laughed a little, "So I'm guessing you're up to something if you're asking for this information."

"Something like that." Amari smirked and tossed him a flash drive, hopefully now he had everything he needed.

"Just don't get killed, I still owe you."

Omen smirked and walked out of the warehouse, "I can't make any promises on that one." Amari shook her head sadly with a smile on her face as Omen left with the heroes right behind him. Hopefully she'd see Omen again, she still hadn't been able to thank him for helping her.

Omen and the heroes got back to the mountain and Omen looked at the last flash drive. He worked for over an hour to use the information to find the light, he was serious about this. When he found them he smirked, time to tell the heroes the good news.

What does the light have planned, you'll have to find out in the next chapter dear readers!
