Chapter 56

After the meeting with Odin, Loki led you through Asgard's grand halls, escorting you like a proper gentleman, with your hand on his arm. The tension from the audience with the All-Father lingered, but Loki seemed determined to distract you both.

"Come, let me show you the true beauty of Asgard," he said, his voice carrying a rare warmth. He guided you through a maze of corridors, each more intricately designed than the last, until you emerged onto a balcony overlooking the city.

From this vantage point, Asgard spread out like a jewel, its golden towers catching the light of the setting sun. Below, you could see bustling markets, gardens blooming with alien flowers, and citizens going about their lives. It was breathtaking.

"This is the Asgard I remember," Loki said softly, his gaze distant. "Before politics and war tainted it. A realm of peace and prosperity."

"It's beautiful," you murmured, unable to tear your eyes away from the view. "Thank you for showing me this."

He smiled, letting you see his warmth and softness, a side few ever got to see from him. "You should see it at dawn. The light transforms the city into something otherworldly." He hesitated before adding, "Perhaps I can bring you here again tomorrow."

"I'd like that," you replied, your voice sincere.

"Come. There is more to see." He led you down to the markets, where merchants called out their wares, offering everything from shimmering fabrics to delicacies you couldn't name. Loki seemed at ease here, weaving through the crowd with a natural grace, occasionally pointing out items of interest or pausing to explain a piece of Asgardian culture.

When you stopped in front of a stall displaying delicate glass ornaments, Loki picked up one shaped like a star. The glass shimmered with an inner light, and he held it out to you. "A memento," he said simply.

"It's beautiful," you said, accepting it with a smile. "Thank you, Loki."

He inclined his head, his expression softening. "A small token. There will be more in time, I'm sure."

As the evening deepened, Loki brought you to a quiet garden tucked away from the main thoroughfares. The air was fragrant with the scent of night-blooming flowers, and a gentle stream wound through the space, its waters glimmering faintly in the starlight.

"This was my sanctuary," Loki admitted, his voice low. "A place to escape when the weight of the palace became too much."

"It's perfect," you said, settling onto a stone bench beside him. The tranquility of the garden seemed to soothe the lingering tension in your chest, and for a moment, the worries of the day faded away.

"What's on your mind?" Loki asked, his deep voice low and contemplative when you had been silent too long. He didn't look at you, his sharp green eyes fixed on the horizon as if searching for answers in garden around you.

"It's overwhelming," you admitted softly. "Being here, seeing this. It's like stepping into a dream."

A rare smile curved his lips, softening the sharp planes of his face. "Asgard does have a tendency to do that. Though dreams often pale in comparison to reality."

You turned to him, searching his expression. Despite his calm demeanor, there was a tension in his posture, a guardedness that you had come to recognize. It was as though he were bracing himself for something, though whether it was internal or external, you couldn't say.

"You don't have to be so stoic, you know," you said gently. "I can feel it—you're carrying something heavy."

Loki's gaze snapped to yours, surprise flashing across his features before he masked it with a wry grin. "Perceptive as always, my little Omega. But some burdens are not so easily shared."

Before you could press further, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed on the path in the garden. You turned to see Thor striding toward you, his golden armor gleaming under the moonlight. His expression was uncharacteristically solemn, his usual jovial demeanor replaced by something more serious.

"Brother, Y/N," Thor greeted, his voice steady. "Mother requests your presence in the great hall. She wishes to speak with you both."

Loki's brows furrowed. "What does she want now?" he muttered, though there was no real irritation in his tone, only a weary sort of resignation.

Thor's gaze flicked to you briefly, his expression softening. "It concerns your bond," he said simply. "And the future it holds."

Your heart skipped a beat at the mention of your bond. Though the connection between you and Loki had been undeniable from the moment you met, the journey since then had been anything but simple. The weight of Asgardian politics, the scrutiny of Odin, and Loki's own tangled past had all cast shadows over what should have been a joyous union.

"Very well," Loki said, his tone clipped. He offered you his arm, his touch reassuring despite the tension in his jaw. "Shall we?"

The walk to the great hall was a study in contrasts. The grandeur of Asgard's architecture, all sweeping arches and intricate carvings, seemed almost at odds with the quiet anxiety that gnawed at your thoughts. Loki was a steady presence beside you, his hand resting lightly over yours as he guided you through the winding corridors.

When you entered the hall, Frigga was waiting. Draped in regal robes of deep gold, the All-Mother radiated warmth and wisdom. Her eyes lit up when she saw you, and she stepped forward to greet you with a soft smile.

"Y/N, Loki," she said, her voice as soothing as a lullaby. "Thank you for coming."

"Mother," Loki acknowledged with a slight bow. You followed his lead, unsure of the customs but eager to show respect.

Frigga's gaze softened as it fell on you. "You've adjusted well toAsgard, my dear. It's not an easy thing, being away from all you've known."

"It's... different," you admitted. "But I'm learning."

Frigga's smile widened. "You have a kind heart and a strong spirit. Those qualities will serve you well here." She turned her attention to Loki, her expression growing more serious. "But there are matters that must be addressed, especially now that the two of you have forged such a strong bond."

Loki's grip on your hand tightened ever so slightly. "What matters?" he asked, his tone guarded.

"Your union cannot simply exist in isolation," Frigga explained. "Asgard will demand its place in your lives. There will be expectations, challenges, and... dangers."

You felt a shiver run down your spine at her words. "Dangers?"

Frigga nodded gravely. "Not all in Asgard will welcome your bond, Y/N. There are those who will see it as a threat, a disruption to the order they hold dear. You must be prepared to face them, together."

Loki's jaw clenched, and you could feel the storm brewing within him. "Let them come," he said coldly. "I will not allow anyone to harm her."

Frigga reached out, placing a gentle hand on Loki's shoulder. "It is not only strength that will protect her, my son. Wisdom and unity will be your greatest allies. Remember that."

Her words hung heavy in the air, a reminder of the trials yet to come. But as you looked up at Loki, you felt a renewed sense of determination. Whatever lay ahead, you knew you would face it together. As one.
