Chapter 52
You couldn't believe your eyes as the rainbow bridge carried you to Asgard. The lights were bright and the colors were more intense than anything you'd ever seen on Earth. You clung to Loki and wondered briefly if you were going to puke. It felt like you were going to puke. Your stomach couldn't decide if it was flying out of your mouth or falling out of your bottom. You hoped it would stay still. It would be embarrassing beyond anything else to vomit on Loki's shoes.
So you swallowed and prayed that your stomach would settle soon.
Loki's arms remained around you the entire time, grounding you and keeping you safe through the journey. He did not seem at all concerned about the safety of his shoes from you vomiting, which was way more credit for yourself than you gave you at that moment.
What seemed like both an eternity and no time at all later, you stepped out of the Bifrost and into a large circular room where a man with amber eyes was standing behind a giant sword. He shifted the sword and the Bifrost closed behind you.
You took a moment to adjust to the new realm, to take in your surroundings. It felt different, you could tell from the moment you arrived that you were no longer on Earth. You could quite put your finger on the difference. The air tasted different, felt different. It was brighter, clearer, so much more.
Loki chuckled at your reaction to the feel of the realm. "It's the magic in the air that you're feeling, Elskling," he explained. "Asgard is full of magic where Midgard does not," he was patient as he spoke to you, but not condescending, not like most Alphas would be to an Omega.
The man with the sword nodded to Thor and Loki. "Welcome home, highnesses," he told them in his deep voice. He nodded to you with a gentle doting smile. Definitely an Alpha with that look. It wasn't predatory, or like he wanted to claim you. You were already claimed. It was more like the look you'd get from a grandfather, caring and warm. "Welcome to Asgard, Lady Omega," he greeted you.
"Heimdall is the gatekeeper of the realm, protecting us from threats," Loki explained while Thor returned the greeting. Loki led you from the room to the Bifrost bridge where horses were waiting. It wasn't hard to tell which one was Loki's, as it was also wearing golden horns.
You couldn't pay much attention to the horse at the moment, though, as you were taking in the beauty of the realm. It was full of so much gold and magic and was so much better than anything you could have imagined.
Loki chuckled and easily lifted you onto the horse's saddle. "You'll have plenty of time to gape later, little Omega," he said fondly as he swung up gracefully behind you. Thor was mounting his own horse with the grace of long experience. "I'll give you a proper tour once we've presented ourselves to... Father," you caught the slight hesitation before he said the word. His relationship with Odin was strained to put it lightly. You knew how much effort it took for him to call Odin his father after everything Odin had done, after all the lies, shit parenting, all the trauma. You could also see how much he hated it.
But it was the price for him to be home. To be able to introduce you to his beloved mother, to be on the realm he'd been raised on again.
So he would play the proper prince and try to stay on Odin's good side.
You leaned up and kissed his cheek. He gave you a gentle smile, acknowledging your comfort and support for what it was in that little gesture you'd told him all he'd needed to know. You were by his side, no matter what Odin had in store.
