Frenemies? Part 1
Hi! Sorry I haven't updated in about a week. I am just procrastinating life at this point. Eek.
So excited for this chapter y'all!
Luke's POV,
I was walking casually down the hallway with Ethan when I heard the cry. It was a sad strange sound that could twist ones heart. It was coming from Omega's room. I froze.
"I mean, she is she such an idiot. Who in the Hades thinks shooting an arrow at— what?" Ethan froze mid sentence as he stared at my sudden stop.
"Oh um... nothing," I said as I eyed the commanders door suspiciously. That's the fourth time this week. What is going on with that guy? Didn't he used to be mister nothing-affects-me?
Whatever it was, there was no need to drag Ethan into it. I glanced at the door once more before turning to Pirate. "How about you go ahead. I'll catch up in a bit."
The warrior eyed me with concern before shrugging it off and heading towards the training room. Once sure he was out of sight, I carefully moved towards the door.
Percy wasn't the same, that's for sure. He was quieter, but in a scary way. He was closed off and dark. Something in his eyes screamed of a lost soul, drifting endlessly through the galaxy's with no destination.
He never showed any liking towards me, which was oddly disappointing. He hated me in fact. It didn't mater, the feeling was mutual. He got lucky. He got Annabeth, he got to be the hero, praised by the gods. I dreamed of all that. I dreamed of forgiveness, of no longer being the traitor. He had everything and yet he still hated the world, or so it seemed as much.
Nevertheless, despite my spiteful feelings towards the hero, I still felt bad for his misery. What could possibly have change him?
Since joining the army five hundred Chaos years ago, I haven't been able to understand him. He wasn't Percy, he was... Omega.
These thoughts ran through my head as I pushed the door to my commanders room open. There he was, sitting—more like curled up— on the bed with tears streaming from his eyes. I stood there in shock as a painful sob escaped his lips.
Suddenly I feel this was a all bad idea. Why did I need to help him? But looking at his destroyed self I knew I had to help him. No one deserved to be in pain. Even annoying unappreciative sons of Poseidon.
I slowly made my way over to him. He was so lost in his misery he didn't notice me sit down next to him until I wrapped my arms around him.
I felt him stiffen before giving up and relaxing into the embrace. He shock with each cry and sympathy expanded inside me. Oh gods, this must be torture for him. I could feel his pain as it rolled of him in waves that spread across the room.
"They... they forgot.." he tried to choke out. "I'm sorry... I-"
"Shhh," I cut him off before moving him to a comfortable position on his bed. "There's no need to explain."
And there wasn't. He was hurting and that's all that mattered. For that moment I pushed away my hate for him as I pulled his blue covers up over him.
"Just take deep breaths," I offered and he did. After a few minutes his sobbing stopped and now tears were silently falling from his eyes. As he calmed down I saw the exhaustion take over him and slowly he fell asleep.
I frowned, made sure the covers were tucked nicely around him and left the room. I shut the door behind me, trying to make as little noise as possible. I glanced back at the door and one thought filled me head.
What happened to make him like this?

Percy's POV,
"I don't care if he's apart of our squad!" I screamed at Charlie. "He's intolerable!"
Beckendorf rolled his eyes and sighed before falling down on my bed. "I get that he betrayed us and he was Kronos's host but he's a good guy. We forgave him, it's no excuse to dislike him."
I turned onto my side so I was facing my friend. I quirked up an eyebrow in question. "Do you really think that's why I don't like him?"
"Well I don't see any other reason."
"He's a prick! A rotten cabbage!"
"He is not!" Beck protested before slapping me lightly in the arm. "If anyone's a rotten cabbage it's you, Mr. Grumpy-Omega."
I growled and crossed my arms before going back to eating the blue chips in front of me.
"Per-" I glared at Beck. "Omega, Luke isn't that bad. He's a good guy."
"Is it so wrong that I don't like him?" I retorted and Charles rolled his eyes.
"He's apart of our squad. He is my friend. And if you two are going to hate each other over some feud from two earth years ago-" he stood up with his food- "this team isn't going to work."
He paced over to where his girlfriend and the other main squad was sat. I caught Alphas eye and scowled. I was mostly mad at myself to be honest. How could I have let myself break in front of him? I can't let them know. They'll be ashamed of me. They'll call me a coward. They'll leave me and forget... just like the others did.
I watched Luke roll his eyes before redirecting his focus to his meal. The rest of the army was laughing and making good fun. Not me. I was alone at my table, too cowardly to just get over the recent events and talk to my friends. If only I could stop being such a prick and actually try to be apart of this family they've made.
A month here and I could already tell how this army worked. Each squad was a team, a family. They all relied on each other. Every squad but mine. That was my fault. Give it time, I had heard Chaos tell Zoë the other day. He is not himself. He will come around eventually. He'll find someone to confide in with his problems and then maybe he can start to get better.
I knew the universal ruler was just trying to look out for me but he didn't realize that maybe the day he speaks of is much farther than he imagines. How am I supposed to tell these people I love of all the shameful things from back at ho-Earth.
I was startled as a voice rung in my ears. "Chaos wants us!" Orion exclaimed cheerfully, skipping arm and arm with Perseus into the throne room. I sighed and followed them along with the others.
Upon entering the massive hall that held Chaos's throne. Instead of sitting in his almighty chair, Chaos had made himself comfy in a leather couch in the middle of the room. It seemed pieces of furniture were popping up left and right often here.
"My warriors!" Chaos exclaimed and he scrambled to get out of his relaxed position on the couch. He rolled over and fell on the floor with a thud which caused the squad to laugh.
"Lord Chaos," I teased with a smirk. "The floor looks rather comfy. How's the weather down there."
"Splendid," Chaos said with a glare in my direction. "Maybe you should see for yourself."
I stepped to the side just as a gust of air knocked Orion forward and he'll fell face first on the ground where I had been standing a moment ago. The archer groaned from on the floor and the rest of the warriors burst out in fits of laughter.
Chaos let out a deep chuckle and walked over to his throne before seating himself on it. Once the squad had calmed down Chaos began to speak. "The world of Thesus—as you know—has been under attack for quite some time. They have requested I send help. I have selected two of you to travel to their world and protect the citizens. The attackers are purely robotic so go all out, kill as many mechanisms as you want."
Beckendorf and Ethan caught each others eyes, no doubt scheming about the many ways they could blow up things.
"And whom are these warriors?" Zoë asked, stepping forward. I hoped that her and I were the chosen ones. I needed to blow some crap up and Zoë was the most respectful of my space.
"Oh, yes!" Chaos clapped his hands together. "I've selected both Omega and Alpha to complete this task."
No. Not happening.
I glanced at Luke and we both snarled at each other. Could Chaos have picked a worse team? Anyone could see the obvious hatred between us. Why on the name of Poseidon would he pair us? It's practically suicidal!
"No," both Luke and I said at the same time. I growled at him and he rolled his eyes.
"Yes," Chaos said sternly.
"Why not send Zoë and I," I complained. "She is my lieutenant and a much better warrior."
"Yeah!" Luke cheered before realizing what he was agreeing to. "Wait—Hey!"
"I choose Percy and Luke because they are the best warriors we have, no offence," the ruler of the universe looked apologetically at the other members of the army. "I trust them and their skills for this mission. I expect high outcomes from it."
I internally groaned. I had to admit, Luke was an excellent fighter but why! If Chaos so badly wanted us to succeed why risk that by sending out two demigods who hate each other!
"Fine," I grumbled. Luke hasn't said a word yet but his head hung in defeat. Why him? Why did he have to be apart of this army? Why did he have to come on this mission? Why did he have to see me breakdown the night before?
"Now since that's settled," Chaos finally says, breaking the tension filled silence. "I will send you two off in an hour. Father your things and get ready for departure."
Chaos disappeared from thin air and I glanced at Luke who was glaring at me. This was going to be a long mission.
