Chapter 4

Artemis

Once the door opened we were introduced to our new home and it took our breath away. The lights in the living room were on and from what I could see Apollo nailed the interior design. Despite the wood shown on the outside of the house, the inside walls were made of stone rocks, they were grey and ashy. I guided my hand on the wall and I was correct, you could feel the different curves and cracks of the rocks. In the middle of the room was a brown leather couch with a wide white fuzzy rug in front of it. Surrounding the couch were identical armchairs and what looked to be bean bag chairs! In the center was a wooden coffee table that had a basket of snacks on top. My eyes then shifted to what looked to be a glass wardrobe but taking a closer look I could see that it was full of books! Beside it was a weaved basket of so many blankets and pillows it was flowing out of the basket.

We walked further into the house spinning around to take it all in.

"You know I honestly didn't think this would turn out so well but....damn I'm good," Apollo whispered almost to himself.

There was a flat-screen mounted to the wall in front of the couch that I didn't see before. A shelf was underneath it just above the fireplace that had frames on it. Curious I went and picked up one of the frames gasping at the picture inside. It was the three of us, the picture we took when we first when on tour! As I walked down the row of frames there were more pictures of us, even from when we were younger.

'How did Apollo get all of these?' I thought.

We never had a house for ourselves before so this was all new to us. When we were younger we hopped from motel to motel just barely getting by, but we cherished what we had which was each other. So having these pictures here...it just showed how far we've come.

"I saved them throughout the years, I knew one day everything we've gone through would strengthen us in the long run," Apollo said from behind me putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Haha no fair, you can see the future," I huffed out as I placed the frame back where I found it.

"Ugh y'all always use that against me can't it be that sometimes I just have good ideas?" Apollo whined.

"I guess you could, but seriously Apollo... thank you," I said turning to face him.

"Hey don't thank me yet you haven't seen the rest of the house! Especially your room!" Apollo shouted excitedly.

"Yeah you should really check out the kitchen, its fully stocked," Athena mumbled coming back into the living room with a bag of Hot Cheetos that she was stuffing her face with.

"You know one day your gonna get heartburn from eating those things," I said scrunching my nose up slightly.

"Meh at least then I won't have to hear you guys saying I have a frozen heart anymore," Athena mumbled shrugging her shoulders.

"Tsk, come on let's check out our rooms then we can check out the basement!" Apollo demanded, waving his arms around like a weirdo.

Once we reached upstairs Apollo took us to each of our rooms. His was first it represented him perfectly, the walls were brick and painted dark blue but it had white paint splattered everywhere. His bed comforter was a nice space gray and a gray and white desk sat in the corner of the room. What really caught my eye was the 10 different guitars that lined against the wall. You could really see Apollos wild nature by looking at his room, I could tell he put a lot of thought into this house.

Next was Athena's room it was purple and white, it honestly looked like we walked into the Apple store....and also Build-a-Bear. There were three computers that took up her desk along with a flat-screen bigger than the one for the living room built into the wall. On the walls were pictures of design models of guns and weapons. One frame that hung just above her bed I recognized as the blueprint layout of her first-ever gun. I was almost surprised there weren't any weapons in the room itself that was until Apollo showed us her closet and behind a rack of clothes was, sure enough, weapons to supply at least a small army. It's amazing how a girl with the power to materialize any kind of weapon can go from complete badass to a stuffed animal addict in a matter of seconds. Because there she was in her bed that was covered in stuffed animals looking as if she was in heaven.

Finally making it to my room, I opened the door and a smile flew on my face, it was perfect. The walls were brick and painted a vintage white but all of the furniture was yellow. Which included my desk, bed comforter, closet door, and bookshelf. The wall in front of the bed had photos and a large mirror on it, the right wall were tall windows that had a sliding door that lead to a balcony. The best part of the room was the ceiling window that was just above my bed that gave me a perfect view of the night sky.

"I figured I'd leave the walls white for you to be inspired," Apollo said smugly.

"I won't say you're the best because you already know that, so how about a hug?" I said not waiting for his answer giving him a tight hug.

"I mean a reminder wouldn't hurt," he said cockily.

"Psh you say that as if your head isn't big enough" Athena teased.

"Oh hush, hush my sisters I know you thought I couldn't get any awesomer-" Apollo began with his hands up and his eyes closed like he was a king giving food to his subjects.

"That's not even a word dummy" Athena mumble underneath her breath.

"I SAID HUSH!" Apollo shouted with a pout. Making Athena roll her eyes.

"Now as I was saying, let me show you two to the game room" Apollo finished with a smirk.

"GAME ROOM?? YOU'RE KIDDING!!" Athena and I said in unison.

"Nope just follow me," Apollo said on his way out the door.

And sure enough, the basement was a whole Gameroom full of the old school classics, to a flat-screen with all the latest consuls. The walls were decorated with Marvel and DC superhero posters along with some of our favorite animes. We were in geek paradise.

It was already 10 o'clock by the time we finished touring the house so we ordered 3 boxes of pizza and geeked out in the game room until we passed out in our rooms. The night ended better than I expected, I was happy, but I was not ready for what tomorrow held.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up to the sun shining on my face, 'I must have fallen asleep on the couch on the tour bus again' I thought. Eyes still adjusting to the light I reached for the back of the couch to pull myself up only to feel nothing but air.
I quickly sat up eyes fully open now, looking around trying to figure out where I was.
'Oh my gosh I'm a dummy, we're in the new house' I reminded myself.
Looking out to the balcony I decided to see the view in the daylight since we couldn't see much last night. So I stretched out and slipped on my slides. Sliding the balcony door open I was greeted with the chilling winter wind. It was just the thing I needed to wake up, I could see the forest lining and in the distance, I could see the shops in town.
It was strange, I felt good today....regardless of the full moon tonight, I was looking forward to it for the first time in my life. I couldn't wait to see the full moon shining in the sky. It's gonna be a good day.
I swiftly turned back into my room and freshened up before heading downstairs. Athena and Apollo were already up and watching TV once I got down there.
They were currently fighting over the remote so the TV channels were flipping from the News to Spongebob. I sighed and rolled my eyes "Alright you two that's enough hand it over" I said now standing behind the couch they were on.
"AH Artemis! We're sorry!" They both shouted throwing the remote in the air.
"Ugh you guys can calm down, I'm fine...I'm actually looking forward to tonight's full moon" I admitted with a smile.
"What? Are you okay?" Apollo said reaching up to touch my forehead while Athena grabbed my wrist to check my pulse.
"Ugh, I just said I'm fine!" I said smacking their hands away. "Now I believe I promised you guys breakfast and a walk around town," I said folding my arms "So let's get ready it's about 9 am and we have to be home by 5 pm to get ready for tonight so let's get our day started!" I finished and began walking back upstairs.
"Apollo the new full moon Artemis is kinda weird" I heard Athena whisper. "I don't know I think I kinda prefer her" Apollo whispered back.
"I can still hear you! Hurry up and get ready we're leaving at 10!" I yelled from the top of the steps.
I got in the shower and decided to wash my hair there were just way too many scents in it. So let's just say we were definitely not leaving the house by 10. Oops.
Once I got out the shower I decided to do a quick wash and go on my hair with some gel. Having my curls shrink up to my shoulders. Due to the winter weather, I just put on some ripped black skinny jeans, a white long sleeve turtle neck sweater, a big camo jacket that went down to my mid-thigh, and finally some white timberlands.
When I walked out of my room it was now 11:30 and I was the first one ready. I knocked on Athena's door first and was giving the okay to come in.
She was in her bathroom mirror putting on some makeup, good thing she was already dressed or we would have been here forever. She turned around to face me and struck a pose.
"What do you think, Art?" she asked.
She wore black and gray plaid skinny jeans, a cream oversize sweater, black combat boots, and a simple black purse. For makeup, she went for the more natural colors she had nude lipstick on and a light smokey eyeshadow that complimented her Carmel skin tone. Her burgundy hair was slicked up into a top knot bun letting some curls hang out on the sides near her ears.
"You look beautiful Thena we have to take pictures together today we look like some bad chicks!" I said blowing her a kiss.
"Yeahhh never say bad chicks again," Athena said patting my shoulder as she walked past me out of the bathroom.
"Hmph, whatever we're still taking pictures. That is if we can ever leave this house!" I began to yell as I stomped across the hall to Apollo's room banging on his door.
"Hey hey I'm almost ready. I just have to finish my hair, actually, you came just in time." Apollo said pulling me into his room. "What should I do with my hair," He asked sheepishly.
"Really Paulie" I complained while pushing him into his bathroom.
"I mean at least I'm dressed," Apollo said sounding accomplished.
"Yeah, yeah whatever hand me the brush and spray bottle," I ordered as I combed my hands threw his curls.
After a few tugs and whines, I finally finished his hair. I pulled the front up into a small bun and wet the back putting some gel on it so the curls would be more defined.
I took a step back and took in his whole attire. He wore a gray long sleeve shirt, a pair of green pants, a brown jean jacket, and some black and white vans.
"Hmm it's missing something here try this," I said handing him a cream scarf that was in his closet.
"Now you are invited to take pictures with Ena and I," I approved with my hands on my hips.
We were now finally on our way into town it was now 12 so we would just barely catch brunch by the time we find somewhere to eat. None of us know how to drive so we had to walk the town was only a 15-minute walk anyway.
When we were younger we had one bike we had to share between the three of us. No one was around to teach us how to drive, and it wasn't like we could afford a car anyway at the time. We got lucky just by getting the bike and that was only because I worked extra hours to get it as a gift for all of us one Christmas. Maybe we'll get a car soon since we're settling down here, but there always Uber, or we could get some bikes! Either way, we never minded walking, it was only frustrating if we were late for school or work, that's why we got a bike.
We had Athena look for a place to eat on her phone as we walked. It seemed like the town's diners were all top-notch their lowest rating was 3 out of 5 stars. It was different from our usual half of star diner but we expected as much.
Once we reached the town it was even more breathtaking than last night! The town was full of people everyone seemed friendly and familiar with each other it was a nice change of energy.
It didn't take us long to find the diner, we were quickly seated and the waiter seemed friendly.
"Awe are you three new in town? Staying or visiting?" The waiter whos nametag read Meridith asked us after taking our orders. She looked almost middle aged maybe early 40's as I could see some grey in her brown hair.
"Oh yes, we just got in last night we just moved here," I said handing her back the menu.
"Oh really where from?" Meredith asked.
"Everywhere." I heard Athena mumble under her breath as she played with the straw in her glass.
Meredith must have heard because she gave Athena a curious look. "Los Angelos" Apollo answered.
"Wow, why did you decide to leave the city of Stars to our small town?" Meredith asked becoming a little too invested into this conversation instead of putting our order in.
"We like to think the stars follow us, besides we have the biggest Golden Boy here so we're not missing much," Athena said a little snappy, she must be hungry and getting tired of this conversation.
"Oh, really we have a star? What do you do son?" Meredith asked excitedly.
"I'm a singer no one too big they tend to exaggerate," Apollo said. It was only partly true, yes he was a singer but he was big. His songs are always on the top 3 on billboards every month. Honestly, how small is this town.
"Ohh a singer you should sing me something now, my daughter loves this one singer I don't remember his name but she loves music" Meredith continued.
"Is it Sol A?" Athena mumbled again saying Apollos stage name.
"Oh yes! That's it! He has this one catchy song I like called Moonlight. Gosh, that young man is gonna make one girl really happy one day" Meredith said holding the menus to her chest.
"Haha well he actually is Sol A," I said holding up the google search of Apollos stage name that had a picture.
"No way oh my you just have to sing now, I heard you decided to take a break from music! My daughter was devastated she wanted to see you in concert but she was always too busy. OH, she would just kill me if I didn't get a picture with you, you know what I'll just call her now you can talk to her and sing one of your songs!" Meredith rambled as she clumsily took out her phone causing it to fall out of her hand and crash onto the table knocking off Athena's glass of water onto her lap.
Athena shot up quickly and I could see her gray eyes flash black before shifting her gaze from her now wet pants to Meredith. She looked ready to lung and go in for the kill, that was until Apollo pulled her to his side and whispered something into her ear. She closed her eyes and when she opened them again they were back gray.
"Oh my dear are you okay I am so sorry" Meredith apologized.
This made Athena glare at her again. Just then an older looking man wearing an apron came up to our table.
"Meri why don't you go and put in their orders I'm sure their hungry" the man suggested though it sounded like an order.
"But dear this young man is that singer Serena is always talking about!" Meredith said as she was being pushed away.
The man began to speak but Apollo cut him off, "Meredith I would love to take a picture with you before we go if that's alright with you" Apollo said with a charming smile.
"That would be great Dear thank you," Meredith said finally walking away leaving us with the man.
"I'm sorry about my wife she tends to ramble and get a little curious, let's move you to a different table while we get this cleaned up. Can I offer you a free dessert or pastry as my apology? My name is Gerald by the way!" the man now known as Gerald said as he moved us to a new table.
"Oreo mint ice cream, please and can we know where the bathroom is?" Apollo asked for Athena that was still unhappy.
"Can that ice cream come before our food please" I quickly added after see Athena's face.
"Of course! And it's just this way," Gerald said making Apollo and Athena follow him. Apollo didn't trust Athena not to go find Meredith.
When they came back Athena said lowly "She was lying."
"What are you talking about Ena?" I said looking up from my phone.
"She wasn't sorry, I would have felt her guilt but I didn't she felt...accomplished," Athena said looking down at her hands.
"Accomplished? Well, maybe that was because she met her daughters, favorite artist?" I suggested.
"Maybe...", Athena said but didn't sound convinced. Just then a bowl of ice cream was placed in front of her and her she dung in. Ice cream always calms her down.
"There you are your orders should be ready soon," Gerald said with a smile and walked away.
Just like that, we fell back into our normal breakfast routine. Our food came and we didn't see Meredith again until we were about to leave and she took a picture with Apollo. She tried to call her daughter but it thankfully went to voicemail.
It was now 1:30 and we began our shopping spree. We mostly shopped for winter attire, I could tell it would begin to snow soon. We ended our afternoon at a little tea shop that was also a Karaoke spot. We made a note to come back another day.
When we finally made it back home it was about 4:30 so after having a quick fashion show with the clothes we all bought we began to prepare for tonight's full moon.
