it all started with a knock knock joke

Wow long title there

~♡~

It's been 6 years since Frisk fell down the underground. Ever since, she stayed with Toriel. Not that she gave up on going home. She tried to leave once...but when Frisk saw the hurt expression on Toriel's face, she knew she couldn't leave. Even if Toriel gave her a chance. Frisk is currently 17 right now, by next month, she'll be 18.

"Child? Are you awake?" Toriel said as she knocked on the door. Frisk just woke up.

"Yes, mom. Just woke up." Frisk said as she stood and open the door.

"I see. I have business to attend to, my child. There will be a possibility that I'll be back after 2 weeks. Are you okay on your own, my child?" Toriel asked, concern and regret showing. Frisk smiled and nodded.

"When are you leaving?" Frisk asked.

"Later this afternoon. I have food that will last you two weeks. Be careful okay."

"I should be saying that to you." Frisk smiled sadly. Toriel nodded and went to the living room. Frisk changed into her usual blue sweater, shorts, black stockings and brown boots. She went to the living room and sat on the carpet, legs crossed. She didn't mind. Toriel was sitting on the green arm chair with a book in her hands. She adjusted her glasses as she gave Frisk a plate of cinnamon-butterscotch pie.

"Are you ready for your morning lesson, Frisk?" Toriel asked with a smile.

"Always." Frisk smiled back.

Later, Frisk watched Toriel leave the ruins down the basement. She tried to ignore the nagging voice that asked the same question everyday.

What's in the other side of that door?

Toriel put her hood up and turned to the door. Frisk wondered why she has to make her identity a secret, but she decided to brush it off. Toriel turned to her, her expression hard as stone.

"Do not leave the ruins, child." Toriel said with a demanding voice. Frisk shivered and nodded. "Good bye, Frisk!" She said and smiled. Frisk ran to her and hugged her. Toriel hugged back as she tried not to cry. Frisk let her go as she opened the door. Frisk felt cold wind hit her face as she saw a blanket of snow. But it only took a second cause Toriel slammed the door closed as soon as she stepped on the snow. Once again, that nagging voice came back and kept asking the same question. Frisk shook the thought off and started walking back upstairs. Her pace became slow as she thought about the snow. She stopped in her tracks and slowly turned to the door.

That door is haunting my thoughts. Frisk thought. The last time she went down here was 6 years ago. No. Stop, just go upstairs and forget about that door. Frisk scolded and whipped around as she walked with DETERMINATION.

"Knock knock." A voice said, it made Frisk stop. The voice was deep and husky. Plus it was charming enough to make Frisk swoon. She walked to the door and listened closely. When I meant closely, I meant she knelt down and put her ear on the door.

"...Who's there...?" Frisk answered.

"Humerus." He said. Frisk assumed he was male since his voice was too deep to be a female's.

"Humerus who?"

"Don't you think this pun was humerus?" He said and snorted at his own pun. Frisk laughed. "Hey, old lady, what happened to your voice?"

Frisk stopped laughing as she wiped a tear. "You must be talking about my mom. She's not here for the mean time."

"Is that so? The names Sans. And yours?"

"Frisk."

"Say, I just heard you right  about now. Are you new here?"

"Well, kinda. I never got out the ruins before. So...I guess you could say I've been stuck here for 6 years already." Frisk said as she leaned on the door.

Sans stayed silent, leaning on the door. Frisk was stuck there...why won't she try getting out?

"Why won't you try getting out then? Aren't you bored in there?" He said.

"Not really. I read books here...and mom might get angry if I go out..."

She sounds sad.... Sans thought.

"Uh, hey, kid. Why did the skeleton needed a friend?"

"Why?"

"Cause he was feeling bonely" Sans smiled when he heard Frisk laugh. Her laugh sounds adorable and is rare to hear, that made Sans want to make more puns and jokes.

"Heh. Okay, I've got questions to ask."

"Okay. Ask away."

"There's an airplane, it's carrying 500 bricks. But, one fell off. How many are left?"

"499"

"Correct. Now, how do you put the elephant inside the refrigerator?"

"Um... I have no idea."

"You open the refrigerator, put the elephant inside and close it."

"Pfft...really?"

"This time, how do you put the giraffe in the refrigerator?"

"Open the ref,put the giraffe in and close it."

"Nope. Open the refrigerator, put the elephant out, put the giraffe in and close it."

"Wow. Of course, why didn't I thought of that?"

"Noah rounded All the animals in his Ark except one. What animal was that?"

"What?"

"The giraffe. It was stuck in the refrigerator."

Frisk bursted out laughing. Sans started laughing too.

"Okay...okay...Sarah wants to cross the alligator infested river without dying. How does she do that?"

"Um...fly?"

"Nope. The alligators are at Noah's Ark."

"OMG"

"But...Sarah died anyways. How did this happen?"

"I give up."

"The brick fell on her head."

Frisk can't take it anymore and started laughing hard. "DAMMIT SANS."

"Heh. Guess I tickled your punny bone there."

"Sans stop!" Frisk kept laughing as she held her stomach.

"No. I ain't stopping. One last question..." Sans said with a dark voice. Sans thought of this since she said she was new here. "Are you a human?"

Frisk stayed silent. She remembered Toriel telling her about monsters who wants to be free from the underground. And they need 7 human souls to break the barrier. She remembered she told her about royal guards and sentries hunting for humans. They must really hate humans. Frisk thought.

"What if..." Frisk started, her voice soft. "...I said yes...?"

Sans stayed silent. He thought she must be a human, like he'd care about that. He gave up years ago. He somehow wants to meet her so bad. Something in her was different. "Human or not, I wouldn't hurt ya'. So don't worry about that." He said, trying to lighten up the mood.

"How should I know you're not lying?"

"Ey, you can trust me. I might be a pile of lazy bones but I can be trusted."

"...okay...yes, I'm a human."

Sans knew she was a human. Well, he doesn't remember how humans look like.

"Knock knock."

This should be good. Sans smiled. "Who's there?"

"Dishes"

"Dishes who?"

"Dishes a really bad pun."

Sans ended up laughing, making Frisk laugh herself. They continued talking and making puns for 5 hours straight. The two had a feeling of not wanting to leave each other's side, even if a giant door is between them.

When Sans was about to say somehing, he heard a loud thump. "Hey, kiddo, you okay there?" Sans asked, a little worried. No response. Sans started panicking. He then thought....wait, why am I worried? I'm sure she's fine. Sans thought as he calmed down. He listened carefully and closely. That's where he heard soft, adorable snores. It made Sans chuckle. He might be a skeleton, but he's magic. It made him want to stay here until she wakes up. But he has to read his broher a bed time story.

"Heh...night, Frisk." Sans said answer he stood up and sighed. He started walking back home.

The next morning, Frisk woke up and realized she slept in he basement. As she sat up, she groaned. "Well, I had a bad sleep..." She said as she tried to adjust with her now sore body. She slowly stood up and went upstairs to eat breakfast. But instead of the nagging voice, it was Sans' voice that she kept thinking.

Sans went downstairs as he yawned. He saw a letter on the counter that was made by his brother, Papyrus.

Dear, Sans

I will be out for an hour. I am at Undyne's right now to train and to have my cooking lessons with her. Please try to look out for humans.

Your brother,
The great Papyrus

Sans thought about Frisk as he sat on the couch. He doesn't know why but it's like he wants to see her, not just talk to her.

It's been 2 weeks since Sans and Frisk met. Well...first talked. Ever since, they wouldn't stop. It's May 6, it was Frisk's birthday. When Frisk woke up, she saw Toriel holding a pie with a lit candle on it.

"Happy 18th birthday, my child!" Toriel said happily.

"Wow! Thanks, mom!" Frisk said excitedly as she hugged Toriel.

"Make a wish, Frisk." Toriel said. Frisk nodded and clasped her hands together and closed her eyes as she makes a wish.

I wish to explore the underground. Frisk thought. She blew the candles as Toriel cheered.

"Now let us celebrate!" Toriel said. "I will wait for you outside, my child." She said as she went outside and closed the door. Frisk stood up and ran into the bathroom to take a shower. After that, she wore her clean clothes and brushed her hair. She took one last glance at the mirror and smiled. She went outside and found Toriel. They went took the dining room and ate their slices of pie.

"Your cinnamon-butterscotch pie never gets old." Frisk smiled, making Toriel giggle.

"Thank you, my child. What is your wish?" Toriel asked.

"Nope. If I tell you my wish it won't come true." Frisk said. Toriel giggled again and smiled warmly at her.

"Alright." When they were done, Toriel took their plates in their sink. When she turned, Frisk grabbed her paws and started dancing.

"Child, what are you--"

"Just Dance with me, Mom!" Frisk said happily as she played a song in her phone. (PLAY IT!🎶🎉) "I've got this feeling inside my bones!" Frisk started singing, making Toriel laugh as they danced. "It goes electric wavey when I turn it on."

"I got that sunshine in my pocket, got that good soul in my feet!" They danced to the living room. Frisk finally let Toriel go, making her dance what her moma gave her. "Got that hot blood in my body don't make it stop. Oooh~." Then at the chorus, they just danced till the song ended. They panted as they sat on the carpet, laughing. (Okay stop. There'll be some sad stuff here).

"That was fun! We should do it again sometime!" Frisk said excitedly. Toriel smiled at her sadly.

"I'm sorry, my child. I believe there will be no dancing and laughing with me again." Toriel said, tears about to fall. Frisk just stared at her with a confused expression. "I saw that you go down the basement and talk with...another monster. And I thought you will not be happy if you continue to live here. So I made a decision,I made a wish for you." she said as she she stood up and helped Frisk stand. "I shall let you go." Frisk tried not to cry as she hugged her.

Later, Toriel packed Frisk a slice of pie. "Be careful out there. I will communicate with you as much as I can." Toriel said and hugged her tight as tears stung her eyes. "Good bye, Frisk."

"Good bye, mom." Frisk said as she smiled with tears. She lets go of her and went downstairs to the basement.

Frisk inhaled and... "Knock knock."

Sans heard and quickly stood up. "Who's there?"

"Ouch."

Sans realized what the joke was and chuckled. "Heh. Nice one, kiddo."

"Hey...today's my birthday."

"Really? Happy birthday then, Frisk. So you're...."

"I'm 18 now."

18? She's just 2 years younger that me. Sans thought. "Huh. My wish for you is to be able to go out of that place."

Frisk giggled. "Your wish is about to come true." She pushed open the doors to see a skeleton 1 inch taller than her (deal with it T^T) wearing a blue jacket, white t-shirt, black basketball shorts, socks and pink slippers. "It's nice to finally meet you, Sans." Frisk said with a smile. I have to admit he's kinda cute. Frisk thought as pink blush coated her cheeks.

Sans just stared at the human girl that stood before him. Light Blue blush coated his face as he thought how adorable Frisk is. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF SHE LOOKS CUTER WHEN SHE BLUSH. Sans thought. "U-uh...yeah. I-I'll show you around Snowdin." Sans said as he averts his gaze. He noticed Frisk was shivering a little. Without telling her, he wrapped his jacket around her.

Frisk blushed as she turned her head. "T-thank you..." Sans chuckled at her cute reaction as he held her hand and led her through Snowdin.

Sans and Frisk became closer as time went by, soon they were in a relationship. They were very happy, all of them and Frisk's new friends. Even if they were stuck in the underground.

And it all started with a knock knock joke.
