Chapter 15: Internships & Related Conundrums

After the two days of rest, recovery and recuperation from the sports festival, and, for Naoki, a chance to relax, sleep, and, get a few more lessons on hand-to-hand fighting, even with the 'opponent' using a Quirk, class at U.A. was back in full swing.

With the coming morning, Dabi walked Naoki back to the store, where he checked in with Yasuki, and, headed home. He showered, changed, prepared, and, with a half hour before the Pro would be getting up, Naoki made breakfast for them both.

From there, Toshinori headed for school, ahead of Naoki, who only left fifteen minutes later, so he could still travel with Izumi.

On the train ride, Midoriya was picked out by a fellow traveller, congratulated and, from there, attention was on them both, Naoki being seen as All Might's son, and, the second place holder from the festival.

Izuku was flustered, and Naoki wanted to die from the embarrassment, but, the whole train car gave them well-wishes, a solid 'Keep trying for it, Hero!' for Izuku, and, a 'You did great, kid!' for Naoki.

The day was rainy and Naoki was happily enjoying it. Rainy weather was among his favourites. So, while most were huddled under raincoats, umbrellas or miserably drenched, Naoki was jumping around, skipping, not even minding that he was entirely soaked.

"Naoki... Are you that excited about rain?" Izuku asked.

"Heck yeah! It's a clean, refreshing, beautiful occurrence! When I was still in the hospital, it was always relaxing to watch, but I could never feel it, or even open a window! So, being out in it now would be a waste if I didn't enjoy it thoroughly." Naoki answered back, still taking pleasure in the cool, yet pouring rain.

"You seem more hyper than usual... I feel like I'm barely awake..." Izuku replied, Tenya running up behind them.

"Good morning, Midoriya, Naoki!"

"Woah! Iida! You really went all out with the rain gear!" Izuku stammered.

"Why on earth are you walking so slowly, and Naoki, stop messing around! You're going to get sick! Where's your uniform!? We'll be late!" He asked, seeing Naoki had arrived, seemingly without his uniform on, or, not the jacket or normal tie and white button up.

He had swapped the button up, or, rather, modified it, now making it have a zipper instead of buttons, zipped up all the way and covering most of his neck, the sleeves cut off, cleanly sewn up, showing his shoulders, but, his arms were still covered, a tight fitted undershirt of sorts covering them.

The fabric was constricting and form-fitted to help with the new damage to his joints, basically a compression sleeve for his shoulders, elbows, wrists, his upper torso, and, neck. It also kept the scarring on the back of his neck from being more visible, as it had been before, which, also meant it covered the scars under it everywhere else as well. While the sleeves looked bunched up around his wrists, that was the rest of the compression sleeve that would cover his hands, a little more than his Hero Costume currently did. When he was in that, though, he would shed this layer, since the Hero Costume already had a similar support in it's design.

"What? But there's still five minutes until the first bell!" Izuku argued.

"U.A. Students should always arrive ten minutes early, don't you think! And, behaving so childishly isn't how a U.A. Student should!" Tenya replied, racing on ahead.

Once in the building, Izuku and Tenya were putting there items in their lockers, Naoki used Time Manipulation to return his clothing to being dry, then, fully dressed in the rest of his uniform, tie excluded, for good reason, he believed.

"So, Iida-" Izuku began, their class rep shedding his rain gear, while Izuku tapped the raindrops from his umbrella.

"If its about my brother, don't be concerned. I'm sorry if I made you worry. Everything will be fine." Tenya replied, cutting the green off. "And, Naoki while the same applies to you, I must ask why, as the son of the number 1 Pro hero, you have not only never worn your tie, but, now have modified your uniform, as some delinquent would."

"Well, I asked Aizawa and All Might about it, but, they wanted Nezu's input... The buttons are really difficult for me to do with my hands having issues with grip. He finally replied, and allowed the modification, but, I had to do it on my original uniform, and do it myself. As for the tie... I don't know how to tie one..." Naoki stammered, a little embarrassed about the last part.

"What? How can anyone - Oh. Wait, my bad, I do apologise. I often forget you lack more than a few years of memories, and, only were officially adopted into a family recently." Tenya bowed a whole ninety degrees. "I humbly ask your forgiveness. I also had forgotten the issues you mentioned reguarding your hands."

Naoki waved his hands frantically, "No, no... Tenya-san... No need to apologise or bow, or humble yourself. You are justified on your words, and, everyone has their own troubles... I need to apologise as well... For the festival... I know I upset you an-"

"Nonsense. I was upset, and unfairly shifted that onto you. It was a competition. And, it is only my own fault that I wasn't able to best you. You took a lot into consideration when you trained. Sharpening one's intellect, and preparing for the unexpected is also part of being a hero. As you said, information is half of a war. You took the festival very seriously, and trained more than your Quirk, and, we all should learn from that. For how I acted that day, I am truly sorry. It was uncalled for and very unheroic of me. So, for that, too, I am sorry." Tenya replied, cutting Naoki off, and shutting down further discord between them. But, from there, as he continued to class, "And, Naoki. If you want to learn how to tie a tie, I suggest asking a trusted friend. Todoroki's is always top-form!" He gave a thumbs up to the two following him as he entered the classroom.

Ah... He is right... I never considered asking... I wonder why he didn't suggest Izumi...Naoki glanced to each student wearing a tie, then, figured out why... Izuku's tie was... Off... Somehow... It wasn't tied like anyone else's.

Various classmates spoke about their experiences, related to being noticed from the Festival. Naoki was seated, quietly looking over a few notes from his book while they waited for class to start.

With a slam of the classroom door, Aizawa entered, a gruff, "Morning." was his greeting, like normal.

Naoki perked up. Afterall, he hadn't had much chance to talk with their teacher since the USJ, and was still a little concerned about his injuries.

"Aizawa-sensei, I wanted to check and make sure your injuries were recovered prop-"

"Naoki, I'm fully recovered. Thanks to you, there wasn't any permanent or detrimental damage. Apparently I could have ended up with limitations to my Quirk if you hadn't stepped in. I still have this scar, but, otherwise, I'm perfectly unharmed." Aizawa cut him off, a few fingers brushing at his face near his eyes. "At any rate, we have a big class today, on Hero Informatics." He paused, intentionally letting the fear and dread drown his students, like he normally did for dramatic flare, scare tactics, or, rational deceptions.

After a few long seconds, he continued, "You need code names. Time to pick your Hero Identities." The class was in an uproar, everyone excited,. But, Naoki kept quiet, since their sensei was a man seemingly intolerant of loud or disruptive actions, and, he was not much different. The teacher activated his quirk, showing his zero-tolerance, and the class went silent. "This is related to the draft picks that I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally, students don't have to worry about the draft yet, not until they're second or third year, actually, but your class is different. In fact, by extending offers to first years like you, Pros are essentially investing in your potential. Any offers can be rescinded if their interest in you dies down before graduation, though." He stopped, allowing for comments or questions.

Tooru asked, "So, what you're saying is we'll still have to prove ourselves after we've gotten recruited?"

"Correct. Now, here are the totals for those of you who got offers." Aizawa clicked and the screen showed the results.

Todoroki: 4123

Bakugou: 3556

Tokoyami: 360

Iida: 301

Kirishima: 272

Kaminari: 108

Yaoyarozu: 68

Sero: 20

Uraraka: 10

Naoki: 02

"In past years, it's been a lot more spread out, but, there's a pretty big gap this time." Aizawa explained. Denki was disappointed, Aoyama complained, but, there was another remark that stood out, and surprised the whole class.

"How the hell did Eyepatch get jack squat for offers!?!?" Katsuki shouted.

"Yeah, now that you mention it... He really... You'd think he'd have more..." Tooru agreed.

"I'm surprised I even got any..." Naoki muttered, stunning the class more.

"How would you expect that? You have the most diverse Quirk here." Hanta stated, earning a glare from Katsuki.

Then, comments switched to how SHouto had more than Katsuki, leading to another blow-up from Kaachan, and, Momo commenting on it to Shouto.

"That's amazing. You must be proud." She stated.

"These offers are probably because of my father." He wasn't enthusiastic about the results.

Meanwhile, Uraraka was shaking poor Tenya like a dead fish in a plastic bag. "People want us!" She was tearing up from the excitement.

"Izumi... You didn't get any... I..." Naoki was cut off.

"I-It's Fine... I'll figure something out... Don't be sorry for that kind of thing, Naoki..." Izuku cheered, able to tell Naoki was just about to apologise.

"Despite these results, you'll all be interning with Pros, got it?. Even those of you who didn't get any offers." Aizawa began.

"Oh! So... We're all interning?" Izuku asked, piqued by the oppourtunity.

"Yes. You already got to experience combat with real villains during the attack on the USJ Facility. But it'll still be helpful to see Pros at work, up close and personal, in the field, first hand." Aizawa paused again, Rikido and Uraraka getting excited about the chance to choose Hero Names, and, the fun it would be... For them... Naoki was still unsure what to use for a hero name, or, which place of his 2 options to intern at, and, he wanted to ask something of a few of his teachers, but was sure he knew their reply already.

"These Hero Names will likely be temporary, but take them seriously, or-"
The classroom door slammed open, revealing the R-rated Hero, Midnight.

"Or you'll have hell to pay later!" She interrupted, Denki and Hanta googling, and Naoki unaffected, as he was during the festival, his eyes now watching the rain out the window, but, still listening. "What you pick today could be your codename for life. You better be careful, or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."

"Yeah. She's got a good point. Midnight is going to have final approval over your names. It's not my forte." Aizawa finished, pulling up his sleeping bag, "The name you give yourself is important. It helps reinforce your image and shows what kind of Hero you wanna be in the future. A codename tells people exactly what you want to represent. Take All Might, for example." With that, their Homeroom teacher settled for a nap.

The R-Rated hero was eying the class, most of the young boys fawning, drooling or barely hiding their interest. Most... But, not all... She saw Naoki not even glancing her way, and decided to try and tease him, get any kind of reaction. She'd seen him act the same way at the sports festival, and heard Hagakure's conversation with him, however brief.

She walked to stand in front of his desk, which, he obviously saw, Denki and Hanta wide-eyed. "Now students, who is ready to share?" Most students panicked at having to share them, as she continued, "Who wants to give it a try first? Naoki, how about you?" She asked.

"No. I'm not ready yet.." Naoki answered flatly, still focusing on the board in front of hi, and not giving her any kind of attention. Denki muttering, "How could he stand her being that close and not even blush... I'd faint."

Tooru chuckled lightly, while Jirou retorted back to him. "Not all guys are total pervs, Kaminari."

Hearing this, Naoki decided to bait them a bit, seeing Midnight was also teasing his lack of reaction towards her. "I wouldn't necessarily say I'm that clear minded, Kyouka-san. Midnight just isn't anywhere close to my mark... Besides, who knows, maybe I've got my heart set on someone already." He looked out at the class, elbow on his desk, and his chin rested on his fist.

Jaws dropped, Midnight, of all people blushed, but, she was more offended. Tooru laughed to herself again, and other reactions were just as bizarre.

"How could she not be a guy's type? What- Are you blind?" Denki asked.

"No. Just not my type. Even her personality isn't close... No offence, Midnight-san..." having finished, Naoki reseated himself, Midnight still standing there, dumbstruck.

Katsuki was eying the raven two seats back, while one other classmate was also perplexed. Izuku, though, was ducking from Katsuki's glare as the blonde stared behind him.

With a small smile of satisfaction at officially screwing with his entire class, Naoki focused on the name he may be stuck with the rest of his life.

Aoyama walked to the front, where Midnight had returned to.

"Hold your breath. The Shining Hero! My name is 'I Can Not Stop Twinkling'! Monamie, you cannot deny my sparkle."

"It'll be better this way. Take out the 'I' and shorten 'Can Not' to 'Can't." Midnight assessed.

"It's stunning, mademoiselle."

Everyone was... Surprised that she actually liked it. From there, the class continued with their ideas.

"So let me get this straight. You're gonna have to pick a hero name, but have no clue what to do? Why ask me, Nao?" Dabi asked while they were cleaning up dinner the night before.

"Well, other than Shouto, you're the only one I know knew me before... But, other than that... I also trust you, and you... Well, I've asked you for a lot of advise, and none of it ever failed or backfired, so-"

"I get it... I'm not sure how to help you here. Sorry, kid." Dabi cut off Naoki's drabbling.

"Okay... Well, what if I ran some by you, and you tell me what you think..."

"Sure." Dabi replied, hanging up the towel after drying the last dish.

"To be honest, choosing names is going faster than I thought it would. All we have left is young Bakugou, who needs to rethink his, and... Iida... Oh yes and Midoriya..." She glanced to the raven, "And, Naoki too." Midnight finished.

Tenya used his real name, and, Izuku ended up with Deku, Naoki smiling at the green's change in how he saw himself.

Well, Kaachan always calls me Eyepatch... Maybe... No... Never mind... Probably not a good idea, I don't even wear one anymore...

With a quick, shaky scribble, his hands always making writing hard, but, this time, also out of nervousness, he wrote down the name, standing and headed to the front, meeting Izuku, who then went and took his seat.

"That one... I like that one best of the ones you listed." Dabi smiled, softer than Naoki had seen yet as they discussed the topic, now settled down and talking before going to sleep.

Naoki turned the board around, showing the name he wanted most.

"Hmm... That's an interesting one. I quite like it." Midnight agreed with the name, surprising Naoki.

Abstrakt: The Plunder Hero.

"Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we can go back to talking about your upcoming internships. They'll last for one week. As for who you'll be working with, those of you who are on the board will choose from among your offers. Everyone else will have a different list. You have a lot to think about. There are around 40 agencies across the country who have agreed to take on interns from your class. Each agency has a different specialty that it's heroes focus on. Keep that in mind." Aizawa instructed.

"Imagine that you were 13. You'd want to choose a place that focuses on rescuing, not fighting villains, understand?" Midnight entered.

"Think carefully before you decide." Aizawa finished.

The class wrung out in affirmations, while Naoki was still nervous, and eager to ask Aizawa his earlier question.

After handing out the sheets, Aizawa added their due-date. "Turn in your choices before the weekend."

"We've only got two days?" Kirishima asked.

"Yeah, so you should start now. You're dismissed." Aizawa advised, leaving the classroom, sleeping bag in hand.

Naoki looked at the two options, cringing at one, but, knowing it might be the best way to learn, and, more than just about his Quirk, but, his past. Plus, it could potentially give him a chance to study the man he despised, as well as watch over Shouto.

His options were for the Pro Hero Manual, and, Endeavor. Either way, not exactly his cup of tea.

"Naoki! Who did you get offers from?" Hanta asked.

"Um... Two isn't really much for options, but... Manual and... Endeavor..." Naoki rubbed his neck, left handed.

"Wow, so, you didn't get an offer from All Might's agency?" Tsu asked.

"I imagine the teachers aren't supposed to, and, it would be too personal. Besides, other than both our Quirks being unordinary, there's not much else in common between them, and, it's pretty obvious I don't mix well with publicity or press, also opposite him..." Naoki explained.

"I am surprised, though... Why Endeavor?" Tenya asked.

"It's because of the fire Quirk Naoki used during the festival, I would think." Momo devised, Naoki nodding, agreeing quietly.

"Ki. I need to speak to you." Shouto came beside Naoki's desk, drawing attention at the nickname the bi-coloured used.

"R-Right... Okay..." Naoki stood, grabbing his bag to put the document away, then following Shouto out of the room, just outside the door.

"I think you know why he's put an offer to you, so, what will you do, and why?" Shouto asked, cutting straight to the chase.

"I'm not sure... It may give me a chance to learn to control that Quirk better, but, I can use it rather well, now... Other than that, though-" He paused, meeting Shouto's eyes. "It gives me a chance to learn more about my past, and how he was involved, as well, as about him..."

"If you give him the chance, he can also use this to learn about you. I don't think you get how dangerous that is. I don't know who or where you got that Quirk from, but it's going to give him a reason to target you, even more so. You defeating me at the festival did that enough, but, those blue flames are bound to make it worse. You've got another reason, don't you?" Shouto asked.

"Y-Yeah... I want to learn why he's even a hero, how, so I can make sure not to do the same. I don't want to end up like him, or worse than he is... And... I also want to watch out for you as well..." Naoki finished, shy again.

"Don't worry about me. He wouldn't dare harm his masterpiece. You, though, he wouldn't hesitate to hurt. He's already done that, I'm sure you remember it well enough now, if you didn't before. Worry about yourself before me why don't you?" Shouto finished his own, making back into the classroom. Naoki, though didn't follow. He went to the teacher's lounge, knocking.

"Who is it?" A tired grumpy voice asked.

"Now now, Eraser. That may be a student." Nezu spoke, Naoki hearing a small thud as the mouse approached the door. "Why hello there, Naoki. How can we be of assistance?"

"U-Uh... Um... Nezu-san, i wanted to ask you and Aizawa-san a question or... three?" Naoki began, following Nezu in when the gesture to enter was given.

"What is it?" Nezu urged.

"I wanted to ask about the... Internships... I've gotten two, and while neither are... Inherently a bad option, I don't think I'm cut out for either, so... Firstly, would it be possible to choose from the list those without offers were given? And, if so, is it possible to intern-"

"Hold on just a minute. Let me ask you this. Which two were offering to you?" Nezu asked, pulling himself onto the couch as Naoki had seated himself on the floor, knees tucked under him.

"Endeavor and Manual, sir." Naoki answered.

"I see your concerns. Now, what kind of agency are you wanting to intern at?" Nezu continued.

"To be honest, I'm not like All Might. I don't do well in a spotlight, and while I also realise my being his... kid... and with my Quirk, its unavoidable, I also don't think interning with Endeavor is in any way a good idea... It relates to-"

"Your few memories, past, and the scars on your back, yes? All Might informed me of this. So, what about my question, Naoki-chan?"

"Um... I assume interning with a teacher is probably out of the question, else, I'd ask either you or Aizawa. Aizawa refrains from popularity, media and the press, and, you, Nezu-san, have your intelligence, which is always a learning experience... But, what I wanted to ask, was... Does it have to be a Hero agency?"

"You are studying to be a hero, Naoki. Why would you not want to study with a Hero agency?" Aizawa asked, peeking out from his sleeping bag.

"I want to learn how to use Blood Tempter better, so, interning at a hospital... But, I also lack a lot of background learning experiences most kids have, so, I also thought, maybe working with regular police or emergency staff would be beneficial on that note... I would only ask this kind of internship this time, but-"

"Sorry, Naoki, I understand why you wish to do these, but, they're not within our jurisdiction. And, as your teachers, no, interning with us is also not an option. I can see you've thought this through, so, I can try to work on something not part of the regular curriculum, with the hospital where your doctor works, and, possibly with the police, to have them work with you on these concerns, outside normal class hours, but, still graded as a class, but, for the internship, you do need to choose an agency." Nezu explained, looking to Aizawa, "What do you think about allowing Naoki the other sheet as well? Two options is more restricting than any other student, even in the past."

Aizawa shrugged lazily, so, Nezu agreed, but, advised he consider Manual's agency as well. Once Naoki had left, Nezu's mind was racing, trying to figure out why the No. 2 Pro hero would offer an internship to Naoki, considering everything involved, or, possible between the two, the possibilities concerning the mouse.

On his way back to class, lunch coming up, Naoki passed Izuku and All Might in the hallway, near the bathroom, seeing his dad terrified, and barely holding back a laugh.

A chuckle from the raven catching the two's attentions, making them spin in terror, relieved it was just Naoki.

"Ah! Naoki, my boy. I'm relieved it was you. Where did you wander off to?" All Might began.

"Trying to decide on an agency... I only got two offers, and..." He glanced sideways, "One was Endeavor..."

"You're kidding?! Why would he- wait, it's probably that fire Quirk you used... WHat was your other?" All Might bleached.

"Manual... I talked to Nezu-san, and he and Aizawa agreed to let me choose from the normal list as well, since two was really only one, safely, and pretty... bad... But, Izu! You got one, it seems! Jii-jii-san, though..." He snickered. "Good luck. He terrifies dad, so-"

"Naoki, he offered for you as well, though, for a different reason than Midoriya... This is probably because of the adoption, so he may be testing the waters with you..."

"No, sorry, dad... Jii-Jii-san is going to need to focus on Izumi, so, I'll try a different place. Any suggestions, though?" Naoki asked, turning down Gran Torino's offer, making All Might bleach again at Naoki's fearlessness to the older man, who even made him freak out.

"Honestly, Naoki, while you may not have any similar powerset to Manual, he's low-profile enough, and, a decent person. You may be able to learn from him how to better be a hero, and, how someone unlike myself, handles media and press. That's where I'd suggest. Besides, i Ricochet's vectors are untested with a Water Quirk, as are most of your abilities. So, learning how they are affected while in play with water may be a good learning experience in it's own right." All Might assessed, Izuku agreed.

"Okay. I may just do that, then... Wait... He's based in Hosu... Maybe I can stop in and see Tenya's brother... If I get an understanding of his injuries, I may be able to at least offer advise, if not help..." Naoki muttered.

"Don't worry too much about that, young Naoki. I'm sure the doctors are doing their best." All Might advised.

When the day was over, Naoki, Ochaco and Izuku headed home, finding Tenya had already set out. Once they reached the convenience store, Naoki paused, pulling out his phone, the other two stopping to wait.

Naoki had seen the hoodie Dabi usually wore, so, was shooting him a message, asking if it was alright to meet him. The other didn't reply right away, but, Naoki could still see him in the store.

"Hey, Izu, Ochaco, I'm... Um, I need to stop and get some things. I'll see you later, alright?" Without waiting for a reply, he went for the store.

"That was unusual... I wonder what made him hurry like that..." Ochaco asked, continuing.

Izuku lingered just a bit, seeing Naoki look at his phone again before dropping into the store, going up to a tall, thin figure who had entered right when Naoki had stopped.

"I wonder..." He muttered, now following Ochaco, a last glance as the bell for the door opening chimed, Naoki and the tall figure leaving, but, the taller one, after a hug, seemed to be trying to send Naoki back, succeeding after Izuku's head turned from the scene, making the green flushed.

Naoki caught up, surprising Ochaco. "Hey~ Sorry about that... They... Didn't have it back in stock yet..." Naoki rubbed his neck with his left hand still holding his book bag, Izuku recalling Kaachan's remarks, and, realising Naoki had lied.

Once Ochaco was off on her own way, Izuku and Naoki on the train towards their homes, Izuku asked, "Hey, Naoki, I don't want to pry, but... Who was that? I saw you two hug and..." He stopped, bright red again.

"Oh..." Naoki was also reddening at Izuku's implied witnessing. "Remember the-uh... The... When... After the USJ, when I was gone for a day... That guy... He saved me from the thieves... And, also helped train me for the Sports Festival, and, we've spent a lot of time together, and... Izu, you know my instincts, how they react... Never, not once, even when I first met him... I've never felt anything but safe around him... I only feel that around Toshinori, and, after this time getting to know you, I feel it around you as well... But, he was the first person who I felt that from right away... And, I'm not... Okay, please, please don't tell everyone... Tooru-san knows, and hasn't spread it, but, remarks on it a bit... I told her during the indoor combat training so she would know I wasn't affected if I saw... Anyway... I... Like him... A lot, and... I really don't find anything remotely interesting about dating a girl... That's why Midnight doesn't affect me... But... Ah... Its not... I don't..." He groaned from his frantic embarrassment, and failure to explain it fully or without stuttering.

"No! I get it! Its fine! Not anything to be embarrassed about... Though, its my first time seeing it, I guess it makes sense... I can tell you aren't into our classmates either, which, even if you were! There's nothing wrong with that! Just... You teased Kaachan, and made him flustered... So, I assumed it was similar to that... Is... Is he good to you? Does he treat you well? What's he like? I really want to meet him, that Quirk is really something, but- Eh... Sorry, I assume he's not one for attention..."

"No. He's rather quiet, short spoken... He's not the kind to like crowds or attention, and, he's a bit mysterious. But, he's not bad. He's gentle and caring, in his own way... The only time he's ever been remotely rough was after I broke a rule... Its nothing ridiculous, just, he lives in a pretty low-end area, and the rule is that I'm not supposed to wander there, or try to go to his place without him. He also doesn't let me wander around when I'm over there alone, or walk back alone, since he drops me off at the store... But, its for a good reason... I did it that once, and I probably would have been kidnapped or worse if he hadn't already been out... They noticed me as... Dad's kid, and were going to try and use me for money... I didn't want to use my Quirk, and it was after the festival, that day, so I was worn out... He was worried... A little upset, since I'd done it, but, after explaining it had been unintentional, he was just relieved I was safe... And, that's also... When I found out more about him... Like Shou-san, I knew him in the past, but, I can't recall him specifically, though, it may be from his own injuries... His own scars... But, I swear, he's a good person, and I trust him. I've been staying there, and dad's fine with it. He makes sure I eat, I can sleep when I'm there, he's protective and responsible... I feel better there, since Dad's out so much... I don't like being alone..." Naoki finished, a small, almost sad smile at his last sentence.

"That's good! I'm glad! If I can ever meet him, I'd love to, but, for now, I'll keep your secret safe, so, don't worry, Naoki! But, I am curious about his name... You haven't mentioned it..." Izuku asked.

"Sorry, Izumi... I..." Naoki began, not sure how to answer.

"Hey, I was just curious, no need to answer. Oh! Our stop is next!"

"Everyone has their costumes, right?" Aizawa began, their class making ready to depart for their internships. "Remember, you don't have permission to wear them out in public yet, and don't lose them, got that?" Their teacher explained.

Mina shouted and excited "Gotcha!", being reprimanded, and told to reply properly, she slumped, repeating the required reply. "Yes sir." She mumbled, sounding upset.

"Iida, wait" Izuku called, "hey, if you ever wanna talk or anything, just let us know. We're friends, right?" The green asked, Naoki a bit behind, confirming his decision with Aizawa, who had asked why he'd chosen Manual's agency. He replied with what All Might had explained, which had led to his decision.

"Yes." Was all Tenya replied with. Once Naoki was caught up, he gave his words to Izuku.

"Don't worry, Izumi, I'll be there too." He continued, walking past the green, following Tenya on the train. I'll look out for Tenya-san, even if it's unwanted, and no matter how much it irritates him... You've got my word, Izumi... Naoki added to himself.

"Well, the nice thing about having the whole city on alert is that no villains will dare to come out." Manual began, their day of patrolling and learning soon to be over. "So, Naoki, why did you choose to accept my offer? You had to have dozens." The Pro asked, removing his helmet.

"Actually, I had one other, and working with Endeavor is not on my bucket list..." Naoki admitted, a small, closed-eyed smile showing.

"You're kidding! That's surprising..." Manual replied, astounded at that admission.

"I accepted your offer because your agency isn't as popular, which, I apologise if that upsets you... My saying that... But, I'm not like my dad, and don't handle media well... He suggested taking an internship with a lower publicity agency would be helpful in learning how to handle the press and media, from someone other than him... And, I also don't know how some of my, well, actually, most of my Quirks work in reguards to water. It's a good chance to learn how they'd interact... And, there is merrit to learning from a Pro who is a completely different nature than others I'm usually around..." Naoki answered. "But, I have another question... About the Hero killer... Are you sure he won't be back? Everywhere he strikes, he tends to attack multiple heroes, its reminiscent of a pattern..." Naoki asked, monitoring Tenya's reaction.

The violet looked shocked, then, glared, albeit, slightly, at Naoki.

"I wouldn't worry about it too much. I doubt he'll try anything so brash after all the publicity, atop the city being on high-alert." Manual assured, sensing the tension that had just blossomed between Naoki and Tenya like a poisonous flower.

"I see... Well, Tenya-san, I also wanted to ask... Tensei-san... Is... Is it possible for me to visit him? I know I'm asking a lot, and it may be inappropriate, but... The news hinted that he may be unable to walk... I... Want to offer my-"

"Tensei is not your concern, Naoki. And, any words you may have to say would have been repeated, and all he's heard for days." Tenya interrupted, "And, please, refrain from addressing my elder brother so casually. You've never met him, so don't pretend familiarity as you do with the rest of our classmates." He ended with.

"Ah... Hey, let's calm down. No need for fighting."

The next day, Manual, followed by Tenya, and Naoki, were patrolling Hosu.

"We'll patrol Kyoto too. Sorry this is so monotonous, guys." Manual spoke up, breaking the silence and trying to ease up the tension between the two.

"No, it's fine." Tenya replied.

"Yeah, monotonous is fine. I didn't sleep last night, which is normal, so... Taking a slow day is probably for the best, Manual-san..." Naoki agreed, he truly hadn't slept, but, he'd also been doing a bit of personal study... Of an impersonal and possibly rule-bending nature, in his inability to sleep.

"Oh, right. That was mentioned on the interview you and All Might were in a while back." Manual replied to Naoki, then turning to address Tenya. "Hey, this is hard to ask, but... You're after the Hero-Killer, aren't you?" Manual asked, drawing both younger boy's attention.

"Uh-How did you-?" Tenya stammered.

"I couldn't think of any other reason you'd come to my agency. Uh- Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad you did, but... You shouldn't be pursuing personal grudges. This is for both of you. We heroes don't have the authority to arrest or punish them. The only reasons we're allowed to use our Quirks is because of the regulations put on them. That's why, no matter how noble the reason may be, a Hero must not use their Quirk for themselves. If a Pro used their power for their own selfish desires, it would be a very serious crime." When he saw Tenya's subtle reaction, he added. "I'm not saying that the Hero Killer isn't incredibly guilty or anything. You just seem like the earnest type, though, ya know! I'd hate for you to focus on one goal and ignore everything else!" Manual hurriedly spoke.

Tenya bowed slightly, "Thank you. I appreciate it."

"Oh, its fine, as long as you get what I'm saying. So, we good?" The Pro asked, looking to them both.

Naoki gave a closed-eyed, smile, accompanied by a thumbs up. "I already learned that... My dad explained it, especially after the USJ... My Quirk.... I did something most wouldn't think was good, but, it wasn't for me... It let me heal 13, Eraser and All Might's injuries... So, I still could be in trouble, but, it didn't harm the villains, or risk anyone's life but my own..." Naoki explained, seeing Tenya clench a fist as they Pro nodded, then continued on the patrol.

Nightfall was approaching, and, with it, a night full of horror, terror and, bloodshed.
