💕Chapter Eight💕
(Y/N)'s POV
I don't know what the heck is happening, but by the time the lights come back on, something is terribly wrong. There, lying on the floor in front of me, is Trey, punctured with three green-tipped arrows.
"Trey, are you okay?" Lewis asks worriedly.
"I don't think so . . . ," Trey says with one last breath before disappearing into a pile of his inventory items.
Holy cow. Did I literally just watch a man die right in front of my eyes? Er, another man. . . .
"Trey!" Lewis cries.
"So, I'm guessing calling dibs on his inventory would be inappropriate . . . ," Ivor mutters. Like heck it would be.
"All those arrows! His inventory . . . everywhere! How did that . . . ? Who!" Lewis freaks out.
I grab his shoulders. "Lewis. Chill."
"Okay, okay, you're right," he says, taking breaths in between words. "Woo. You're right."
"Wait, (Y/N)," Aiden says, nodding towards the ceiling. I look up and find a dispenser—obviously from where the arrows came.
"Stand back, everyone," I say, kneeling down to the arrows and inventory. "I'll check this out." I inspect his inventory. . . . Gunpowder, redstone dust, leather pants . . . nothing out of the ordinary.
With a sharp gasp, I watch as the floor opens and the items drop down. The trapdoor seems to be lined up with the arrow dispenser. "What I don't understand is—why? He didn't appear to have anything worth stealing."
"Perhaps it was simply to dispose of the evidence," Ivor says.
I grab one of the strange arrows and hold it to Ivor. "Ivor?"
He swipes it from my hands and sniffs it. "Smells like . . . yes . . . Potion of Poison?"
"Oh, is it a tipped arrow?" Lewis stutters. "Oh, I've heard of those. They're . . . they're still pretty new."
"'Tipped arrow'?" Faith asks.
"Yeah, like, arrows you can put different potion effects on them," he explains. "Could've sworn I saw someone doing a tutorial on how to make those not too long ago. . . . But my nerves are too shot to remember who right now."
"Well, maybe later," I say.
"Hello? Everything okay in here?" a girl asks, walking into the room. No. Nothing is okay in here. "Whoa! What's with the crowd?"
"I, uh, I was just about to get everyone together to tell them at once," Lewis says to her.
"Okay . . . ?" she says as he sneaks out of the room. "Hang on a minute. It's you! I recognize you!"
"I'm pretty sure I've never seen you before," I say.
"I'll show you. Follow me," she says, gesturing for us to follow her out of the room. We do and we find a redhead girl with a calico cat standing in the hallway.
"Trinity! Hi! Did you see all of these new—?" the redhead starts to ask. "Oh. You've got them with you."
My jaw drops when I notice the paintings of me and everyone else. We just arrived. We don't know these people. How could they have paintings of us!
"Well, first it was just paintings of the people who were here and then you," redhead explains.
"Interesting. And low-key creepy," I say.
"No kidding," Jesse says.
"They're absolutely exquisite! Perfect!" Ivor says, marveling hisself.
"Well, not 'perfect'—," Lukas says, and I glance over to see his painting's nose totally botched. {That Tangled reference though.}
"Absolutely perfect!" Ivor continues fanboying over hisself.
I look around the room at all the different paintings of all the different guests who must be here. "I lied. High-key creepy."
"Right? At first I was like, 'Oh, cool. Fan art. Flattering,'" redhead says. "But the more I thought about it . . . 'creepy' is definitely right."
That's when I notice Trey's painting, which has a giant red X streaked across it. "That's not good."
"Come on, everyone," I hear Lewis say from outside of the room. "Let's meet up in the dining room." He enters the room, followed by three more people.
"Can't wait to hear the big news," one of them says.
"Me neither!" another agrees.
I spot the two's portraits hung on the wall, just as everyone else's.
"There better be cake," a dark-skinned girl says. {Sassifying these lines for ya.}
"Come on; let's do this," Lewis says to me.
"Let's go, Winslow," redhead says to her cat as we shuffle into the dining room.
"Here, let me introduce you all properly," Lewis says once we're all in. "You already met Cassie Rose,"—he points to redhead—"and Lone Lunar." She was the first one we met, aside from Lewis and Trey.
"But my friends call me Trinity," Lone Lunar says.
"This is ShinerX," Lewis continues. That's the one who was anxious to hear the news. "And HihiLunarStar."
"Call me Mooncake," HihiLunarStar says, the one who agreed to being anxious to hear the news.
"And BeezieHornet," Lewis finishes, gesturing towards the dark-skinned girl.
{Okay but Dan and his hair.}
"Huh, it's funny . . . ," Lewis says. "Before you showed up, we all knew each other here. They're the Order of the Stone—(Y/N), Aiden, Lukas, Jesse, Faith, and Ivor. Apparently they're famous heroes where they come from."
"You said there was news?" Shiner asks. "Is it good? Good news?"
"Uh, yeah . . . it's, um . . . bad news, I'm afraid," Lewis says, scratching the back of his neck. "Trey . . . is dead."
Everyone mutters something of surprise.
"But Trey was so tough!" Mooncake says. "There was nothing that could take him down! What happened!"
I pull out the arrow. "He was, uh, slightly perforated by these."
"Tipped arrows?" Trinity asks.
"Does that mean someone set a trap for Trey? That's nasty," Mooncake says.
"I can't believe Trey's gone. Just like that!" Shiner grieves.
"So . . . what happened to his stuff?" Mooncake asks.
"Whoa! How can you say that!" Cassie says.
"It is a valid question," I say. "And it just disappeared into a hole in the floor."
"And we're just supposed to take your word for that?" Beezie asks.
"It's true," Lewis backs me up. "(Y/N) was poking around it and it was just sucked into this hopper."
"I just can't help but wonder if this is just about Trey, or if there's a bigger reason," Aiden says.
"Yeah, why would they have our portraits?" Faith asks. "It's not like they know us."
"I dunno. I mean, knowing Trey, this could just be about him," Trinity says.
"Like, you think there would be a good reason for someone to get rid of Trey?" I ask.
"Well, putting it that way sounds harsh, but I don't know. Maybe?" she says. "Someone brought us here for a reason. Including Trey." She brings out a book, similar to our invitation.
"What if we're all in danger?" Shiner asks, sitting at the table. {Well just be glad you weren't invited by Joey Graceffa into a different timeline because whew that would be worse.}
"As long as we stick together, I'm sure it will be fine," I say. "Anything can happen as long as friends are around."
"Inspiring," Shiner says.
"Yeah! Teamwork makes the dream work!" Lewis says.
"Wow," Ivor utters sarcastically.
"Ugh, all this 'danger' is making me sick," Beezie says.
"Beezie, come over her," Mooncake says, whispering something else incoherently and leading Mooncake to the back of the room.
"Trinity," Shiner says, nodding her head towards the seat next to her.
"The more I think about it, the more I think that there's something these people don't want us to know," Ivor says.
I gasp excitedly. "Do I get to play detective?"
"I'm afraid you probably won't be 'playing', (Y/N)," Faith says.
"You can be Sherlock as long as I can be Watson," Aiden says.
I sigh. "Fine. I'd rather be Nancy Drew, but if it makes you happy . . ."
"Let's get investigating, then," Lukas says.
"Come, Watson, we have a job to do," I say, approaching Shiner and Trinity.
"Shiner," I greet.
"Trinity," Aiden says.
"Oh, uh, hello," Shiner says.
"Hi, there," Trinity says.
"We'd like to question you about the Trey situation," I say.
"Yeah? Go ahead," Shiner says.
"So, people seemed very interested in Trey's stuff," I start. "Why?"
"An adventurer like him? He could've had all sorts of cool stuff," Trinity says.
He was an adventurer. I pull out the notebook I always carry with me. "It seems as if the trap was targeted towards him. Why?"
"Well, he was bragging about having some kind of 'rare item'," Shiner says.
"Of course he wouldn't show it to anyone. Typical Trey," Trinity scoffs.
He was an adventurer. He had a rare item. "Rare item? You know anything about it?"
"Not exactly," Trinity says.
"Yeah, sorry," Shiner says.
He was an adventurer. He had a rare item. No one knows what it is. "So . . . you don't like Trey? Why?"
"Oh, come on. You met him, right? Nobody liked him. I'm just the only one who'll actually admit it," Trinity says.
"Yeah, he definitely wasn't the nicest person," Shiner agrees.
He was an adventurer. He had a rare item; no one knows what it is. He was rude; no one especially liked him. "Thank you for your time. Anything to add, Watson?"
"Nope, don't believe so," Aiden says.
We head back to the group and Jesse asks, "What d'you got?"
"Trey was an adventurer who obtained a rare item, though no one knows what it is. He was just as rude as he seemed to be, and no one really liked him for it," I sum up my notes.
"He didn't really have anything rare in his inventory, though," Faith says.
"Yeah, something's not adding up here," Aiden says.
I nod and go towards our next suspects. "Mooncake and Beezie, right?"
"Yeah, hey," Beezie says.
"Hey, what's up?" Mooncake asks.
"We have a few questions if you could spare a minute of your time," Aiden says.
"Oh, really? What?" Beezie asks.
"Mooncake. You seemed curious about Trey's inventory. Why?" Aiden asks.
"Well, he was a pretty notorious thief," she says. "I was just wondering what he had. That's all."
He was an adventurer. He had a rare item; no one knows what it is. He was rude; no one especially liked him. He was a thief. "Trinity really doesn't like Trey. Why?"
"Oh, yeah. Real shame," Beezie says.
"He broke into her house and stole a bunch of stuff from her. She was super upset about it," Mooncake says.
He was an adventurer. He had a rare item; no one knows what it is. He was rude; no one especially liked him. He was a thief; he stole from Trinity. "Anyone you know of who would want rid of Trey?"
"Well, I've never had a big problem with him," Beezie says, "but a ton of other people did. Don't know if you realized, but he was a bit of a griefer."
"And a thief," Mooncake says.
"Your input is much appreciated. Thank you."
"Of course," Beezie says.
"No problem," Mooncake says.
"So, did you get anything from Mooncake or BeezieWasp?" Lukas asks when we reach them. {I apologize; I couldn't help myself.}
"It's 'Hornet'," I correct, "and we now know that he was a thief and stole from Trinity."
"A thief, huh?" Jesse asks. "Think that has something to do with it?"
"Not totally sure yet, but it's possible," I say then head over to the last couple of suspects.
"Hello, Lewis. Cassie Rose," Aiden says.
"Yep! Hi! That's me!" Cassie says.
"Hey there, you two," Lewis says.
"Winslow says hi, too, haha," Cassie says. Winslow scratches his head like he hasn't a care in the world. Maybe he can be Fish's play buddy while we're here. {I may or may not start shipping them lol}
"Mind if we ask you some questions?" I ask.
"Nope! What're the questions?" Cassie asks.
"Why would someone want to kill Trey?" I ask.
"Oh, gosh. Gosh," Cassie says. "He was a little . . . prickly around the edges, you know? You'd have to ask other people about that. I— I didn't really know him."
"I don't want to say anything mean about a guy that's not here to defend himself, but, well, you met him, right? 'Prickly' is kind of an understatement," Lewis says.
"Cassie, you seemed pretty upset about people wanting to see Trey's inventory. Why?" I ask.
"Oh, was I?" she asks.
"Yeah, you really were," Aiden says.
"Well, it was so insensitive, right? It had just happened and she was all curious about what was in his pockets," she stutters. "Just made me mad, I guess."
"Mooncake said she was just curious," I say.
"Huh. Just like me! What a coincidence," she says. {Okay, but, Cassie, you're awful at acting.}
I feel like Cassie is my biggest suspect, right now. "Know anything about the whole Trinity-Trey-situation?"
"Sorry, I'm not getting wrapped up in that," Lewis says. "Especially now that Trey is . . . y'know."
"But it's weird, right? Definitely like there's some beef," Cassie says. "Not that I, um, want to get into rumors or anything like that."
"We appreciate your taking the time to answer our questions," I say.
"No problem!" Cassie says.
"Uh, yeah, any time," Lewis says.
"Anything from them?" Faith asks when we get back to them.
"Not really," I say. "All we got was that everything with these people is a mystery."
"Trey was a thief who stole from Trinity and obtained a rare item from someone," Aiden sums up everything we know. "No one really knows what this rare item is; he's never shown or told about it to anyone. He was a real jerk and no one liked him, especially Trinity."
"I feel like this rare item is one of the biggest pieces to this puzzle," I say.
"I, uh, I think I can shed some light on that situation, actually," Lewis says.
"And that light would be?" I ask.
"There's a temple. Way out in the middle of nowhere," he says. "No one knows who built it but it's been there forever." Huh, that sounds familiar. "People have been trying to track down the temple's location for ages because they want this treasure that's supposedly deep in its basement. Now, it looks like just an ordinary flint and steel, but it's actually super rare. It's got this enchantment on it, and—"
"It can open portals to other worlds?" I ask.
"Exactly!" he says. "Wait, what? You know about the enchanted flint and steel?"
"I literally have on in my pocket," I start to take it out, but Lewis stops me.
"Oh geez, put that away!" he says. "You can't just pull that out here!"
"Okay, you know, I had a theory about why you were here," he says. "And I think this just might prove it."
He takes a seat at the end of the table, calling everyone to come sit with him. "We've all been freaking out, wondering why we were all brought here, why Trey died . . . and (Y/N) has uncovered a very important clue."
"Really?" Beezie asks.
"Whoever killed Trey, whoever invited us—they're after the enchanted flint and steel—"
And that was the last thing Lewis said before he was tipped over backwards, dropped into a hole, and covered in sand. The lights go out and all that's left of CaptainGlitter is his stuff.
💕A/N💕
Yo, it's finally done!
Yay! \(^-^)/
So, some of you may have noticed I published another story (it's Stranger Things so if you're interested in that then you can go check it out) and I'll be trying my hardest to make time for both this and that, but please understand if it takes me a little while longer to upload to either <3 I think I have a system that will work, so it should be fine.
(And, I know, I still don't have the play, but I'm trying!)
