The Crafting Dead AU: A Doctor's Past

SPOILERS FOR THE CRAFTING DEAD!
<><><><>
A boom echoed through the silent city of DC. A giant mushroom cloud was formed over the White House.

Max could hear a yell from far away. "SKY! JIN! NO!" His feet pounded against the gravel and stone ground. His legs and arms pumped, carrying him to the ruined White House.

Max dove behind a bush, seeing a red-head and a person with a mask on. He sneaked around the side and grabbed a vine, climbing into the flaming White House. He ducked under some fallen support beams and went to grab some supplies in case there were some.

The ginger lit up when he saw some ammo for his shotgun, grenades and some food. He unzipped his backpack and shoved the necessities in. Looking around, he saw a body laying not too far from him.

It was a man, with grey skin and a horn jutting from his head. A blood-cover lab coat was over his shoulders and burnt at the ends. He wore white lab pants and black boots, all singed with fire.

Max sighed, feeling the others pulse. "Alive huh?" He mumbled. Grabbing one of the man's arms, he put the body over his shoulder and left for his safe house.

<At Safe House>
Max ripped the board off of his door and walked in, locking the door behind him.

He set the "man" down. Max looked over him and saw the horn again. 'Hybrid?' He thought. 'Seems to be narwhal.' The ginger smiled and grabbed a can of peaches from his backpack, opening and eating some.

<An Hour Later>
"AHHHHH!" Max heard a yell come from his room and ran in. The "man" was awake. His brown eyes looked over the ginger.

"A-Are you okay?" Max asked, extending his hand. "I'm Max." He smiled slightly, being as kind as he could to the other.

"Y-Yeah. Thank you......oh! I'm Ross." Ross grinned happily, shaking Max's hand. "Where am I?" He looked worriedly at the ginger.

"Somewhere safe, I hope." Max pulled back a curtain and stared at the walker-filled wasteland. "Hey, I forgot, can your remember anything? You seemed to have hit your head hard."

"No. All I can remember is my name." Ross hung his head sadly. Then he suddenly leaned over towards Max's face. "Can you see them too?" He whispered.

Max's expression changed to confusion. "No. Why?" He asked, Ross' face blood-drained.

"There are two people right behind you. Well, one person. The other is a dinosaur of some sort." Ross explained.

It's your fault Ross.

We died because of you.

You killed my friend.

YOU'LL PAY!

Ross screamed and held his head as two male voices rocketed in his head.

Max looked at Ross. "Come here." Max held Ross tightly in his arms.

Another person appeared. It was a young boy, donning a tiger onesie. "Is the bad man gone? Did he sleep yet? Uncle AK said he never saw him again......do you know?" The child looked at Ross, his eyes full of tears. "Do you know where Daddy is? Daddy Nick?"

Ross stared at the ghost. "Max......I can see another....." He trailed off, crying softly in the ginger's shoulder.

"Hush Ross. You'll be okay."

<The Next Day>
"Hey Ross! I'm going on a supply run! Wanna join?" Max called up. Footsteps pounded against wood as Ross appeared, donning a white Nationals tee, blue jeans, and some green high-tops. A fresh lab coat was over his shoulder, which he put on.

"Heck yeah! I want to see this!" Ross cheered, grabbing his small laptop bag. Max had found it in the apartment and Ross wouldn't part with it.

"Alright. Let's go Ross." Max smiled and grabbed Ross' hand, leading him carefully outside.

<A Few Hours Later>
Max looked at Ross. He was a natural at avoiding these walkers. They seemed to have no interest in either of them.

"Hey Max? Where did you find me?" Ross asked, playing with his katana.

"The White House. Speaking of White House, let's go check for some loot. I grabbed some last time and I hope not a lot burned." Max asked as Ross nodded.

Later, they approached the walls of the White House, staring at the blown-apart building.

"This is where you found me?" Ross awed, looking at the building.

"Yeah." Max answered. He walked around a part of the front and stopped. Three graves were set in the ground, plants and flowers ground around it.

One had a broken pair of sunglasses set in front of it. The tombstone read: Here lies Sky; A Hero.

Another had a eyepatch over the stone and a empty crossbow set in on the dirt. That tombstone read: Here lies Barney; A Good Soul.

The last was old, with vines covering it. An old, molded teddy bear was set against the stone, creeping Max out. The tombstone read: Here lies Jordan: Our Son ~N, AK, S and G.

Max teared up, staring at the three who died, probably to save someone. Ross stood behind him. He saw each ghost at their named grave.

"I killed myself to take you down. You didn't die." The first one -Sky- glared at him.

"I wasn'ts payings attentions. Ands yous killed me Rot." The second one -Barney- said, with an odd accent.

"Daddy Nick and Ghetto survived. They tried to save me from bad man. Bad man ate me." The last one -Jordan- hung his head.

Ross stared at them all. Voices swirled in his head as memories flooded his brain. He killed Barney. He let Sky die. But he didn't kill Jordan. Red ate him.

"Max. I-I remember." Ross said to him, his eyes wide. "I.....I killed two of them...." He stared at his hands, blood flashing on them.

Max turned his head as he saw Ross fall to his kness, crying.

"I KILLED THEM BOTH! ALL OF THIS WAS MY FAULT! I CREATED THIS! I PUT THIS WORLD THROUGH H*** AND BACK!" Ross screamed. "I did it, and laughed. I LAUGHED!"

Max stood, speechless at Ross. He backed up. "You did what?" He grabbed Ross' shoulders.

"I created the walkers." Ross said under his breath, enough from Max to hear him. "It was all my fault. Nick, Ghetto, Shark, Jess, AL.....all of them. They're going to kill me. Nick swore revenge. I'm as good as dead Max."

Max held Ross tight, hugging him. "You'll be alright. You will be."

"I never will be. I'm a madman......."

You killed us Ross. Red killed Jordan. All of us died to evil souls.

A ghost appeared in front of Ross, and finally, Max could see him. It was Sky.

He killed us Max. Can you really trust him?

Max looked at Sky. "I can. I will fix him."

Good luck. That man will not change. Never.

And he vanished, leaving the broken narwhal and hopeful ginger behind.

Max would fix Ross.

Even if this "Nick" would kill him.

Max made a promise.......

And he intends to keep it.
