Chapter 26: Ruth's Dreamy Twin
Just then, Dreamy Ruth had faded back into my vision, but it seemed like she wasn't physically there. "Dreamy Ruth! Is that you? I thought you died though". She nodded her head but then shook it after. I then said to her, "I can see you but I can't feel you". And then she went, "Remember what you described to the real me? Convexity is in fact an airlock between my world and yours. You may have brought the real me into this mid-reality but I am still in the dreamworld". So Dreamy Ruth wasn't actually in Convexity? This made me start to panic. "Dreamy Ruth! Oh no Dreamy Ruth, then we may all be doomed... Is there some way you can make it?". Looking back at the real Ruth, she was still giving me funny looks and then also looking up at the image of Dreamy Ruth in strange ways.
Dreamy Ruth then answered me, "The only for me to come down there is if a horrible event happens in the dreamworld, just like how something so bad in your reality had caused the portal from your side to Convexity to open". I pondered for a bit. "So in other words, an unthinkable nightmare?". Dreamy Ruth nodded and then again, she shook her head... But then nodded again. Could she make up her mind? "I know you guys really need me, so I'll see if I can do something to activate the portal myself". Then the real Ruth pipped in. "What? I don't need any of you circus clowns. I'm just here to fix Karla's problem and then go home straight after". I never thought Dreamy Ruth could lose her temper, but this time, she did... At Ruth. "You have no charity whatsoever. You claim to love your religion and customs and yet you won't help your neighbour... So what does that really say about you? You insolent Earthly being". By this time, Dreamy Ruth had the most scrunched up frown that was possible and it looked like she could breath out fire at any moment. At this point in time, the real Ruth wasn't screwing her face anymore, rather she was absolutely terrified.
"Oh my god, what the frick... She is going to kill me!" Ruth yelled to me while jumping and then clinging on to my chest. "Get her to go away!", screamed Ruth. "I'm afraid I can't. In this case, she is the final piece to our puzzle". Ruth looked up at Dreamy Ruth again in shock horror. "B-b-b-but". Dreamy Ruth now had her arms folded and was shaking her head. "I can't believe you treated Karla the way you did but thanks to you anyway, she has a few powers up her sleeve that she could possibly use at the final showdown between her evil twin". Ruth was confused and speechless. "What powers do you have?", she asked me. "Excessive sadness leads to ice. Due to all the apparent hurt you've caused me within the past year, I can now either freeze my enemies with a stream of ice, a blast of ice, or an icy hurricane". Ruth pointed to the middle of my chest that was now a feint blue. I said to her "Yes, due to the recent way you've been acting to those dear to me, you have activiated the ability for an ice fury, which is that hurricane I was talking about".
"Okay, this is just getting weird", commented Ruth. "Well would you like to see what I mean then?". She quietly nodded. "Alright then, just keep going the way you're going... The metre's almost full". Ruth just looked lost and agitated now. "Oh my god Karla, stop it! Seriously you're giving me a frickin' headache!". I nodded with my lips curled. "Alright then, you've asked for it". That's when the light blue ball started to form around me. "Um, Karla? What's happening to you?". The ice shards started to form and grow into a massive size and it was now blowing a snowy gale even in the realm of Convexity. "Ok Karla! I'm sorry!". Still, sorry wasn't going to cut it. "It's too late now" and that's when the shards released and an avalanche had formed, rolling Ruth over onto the rough ground. "It seems I underestimated you. You really did let out an icy hurricane", murmured Ruth while lying on the ground.
"And so how does her blast of sadness feel?", asked Dreamy Ruth. "Ugh, it feels like there's now a crushing pain in my chest and my limbs want to drop off...". And so she does know what it feels like to be hurt and rejected and have the spill over of emotions converted into the element of ice. It leaves you lying on the ground, weak and helpless. "Can someone help me up?", asked Ruth. Dreamy Ruth and I looked at each other, shrugging our shoulders. "Do you think she fully understands?", I asked Dreamy Ruth. "I don't know but it's always good to show her that you're the bigger out of the two". That translated to the idea that I should show Ruth just how good I am by helping her off the ground... Just leaving her there may make her think the opposite.
