The Saddle

Nira grinned widely, lifting the saddle off of the hook it hung by on the wall. It was thin, yet pliable and strong, embroidered with a sky blue thread. Looking closer, she realized that the azure threads portrayed beautifully crafted dragon eyes. She ran a hand along its side, appreciating the craftsmanship. It was unlike any other she'd ever seen.
Nira hoisted it up and onto Eclipse's back. The saddles on the wall ranged in size, yet the one fit the Silver Schwer perfectly. She stretched her wings, testing how the leather bent above her rippling scales.
Nira led Eclipse out of the shop, bidding her goodbyes and repeated thanks to the old shopkeeper. Barely able to contain her excitement, and climbed onto the saddle. With a slight tap of her heels, the dragon shot off into the air.
Riding with a new saddle wasn't easy for the first few minutes. It wasn't stiff like most new saddles. Quite to the contrary, it bent unusually well. But Nira and Eclipse weren't used to how it bent, so they had to twist and turn midair to break it in and grow accustomed to it.
Wisp's small wings beat furiously in an attempt to catch up, grabbing onto the Silver Schwer's tail and slowly crawling up her back, bracing himself against the fierce wind that buffeted him and nearly threw him off.
He found a flat area on Eclipse's back, pressing himself lower as to not be thrown into the air or create drag.
They flew for about an hour, before Eclipse's heavy breaths made it obvious that she was growing tired. It wasn't quite sunset yet, but it was late afternoon. The dragon slowed to a graceful soar, panting heavily with a happy expression on her face. She loved a good flight.
Eclipse turned in midair, gliding towards the glittering lake. Her foreclaws collided with the soft earth, hind feet landing quickly after. Wisp clambered off of the larger dragon's back, bounding over to a tall boulder and comfortably situating himself on top of it.
Eclipse lay down in the shade in the shadow of the boulder Wisp was sitting on. Nira leaned back against the dragon's silver side, closing her eyes. The day was not so unbearably hot like some of the ones before, as the summer was slowly coming to an end. And with the end of summer came The Test.
Nira's blue-grey eyes snapped open. The stress of the upcoming event had been building over the past few days, and had hit her suddenly. She gritted her teeth and stood up. Eclipse was too tired out to fly, and she was unfortunately trapped in her stress until the dragon got her energy back.

"One more week, and then I won't have to stress over this anymore." She muttered.

OH MY GOD, I'M SO SORRY FOR THE LENTH OF THIS CHAPTER. I COULDN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE TO WRITE, AND I HAVEN'T UPDATED IN LIKE A MONTH. I'LL TRY TO GET BACK TO A GOOD SCHEDULE SOON.
