Free the Sethergill

Nira jumped off of Eclipse's back and into the water. The silver dragon quickly soared out of the Sethergill's reach, but keeping a keen eye on her rider. The massive dragon hadn't noticed that Nira was floating beside it, thinking that the dragon and rider were one entity.
But she had to move quickly, because it might see her at any moment. Nira ducked beneath the water, knife in hand, and swam towards the tangled leg. It was, as she had suspected, tree roots. But it was really stuck badly. Tooth marks were evident all over it, and it was obvious that the dragon had attempted to chew it off. But it couldn't see the roots, and had been unable to get everything. A precise hand could free it.
Nira didn't waste a second. She grabbed the roots with one hand and cut with another. She was partway through a particularly thick root when she began to run out of air. She swam to the surface, gasping for air as quietly as she could. Pushing a strand of wet hair out of her eyes, she could see that the Sethergill was still roaring. But she didn't waste any more time, diving underwater again.
Under the lake, everything was tinted green. She forced herself to keep her eyes open, although the assault of sand and mud churned up by the dragon hurt badly. She made it through the rest of the root, the broken pieces floating out of the way. The Sethergill's foot grew looser, and it pulled even harder.
Another breath. The dragon must have thought that it had been pulling itself free. She dove again. It was an endless cycle of air, water, and the pain in her eyes. They were growing bloodshot, the red drowning out the blue.
Nira finally made it to the last root. The dragon was barely stuck, nearly out of its binds. She sawed even harder, and before she could even make the final cut, the dragon pulled itself free.
Nira made her way to the surface, gasping. Eclipse dove quickly, scooping up her rider and soaring back into the air again. The Sethergill snapped its teeth at them, but they were out of its reach.
Skandar and Nira soared towards the water, and that time, the Sethergill followed. Bounding through the lake, it kicked up water. It flecked Eclipse's silver scales, glittering in the sunlight. They reached the edge of the lake, hovering over the bank.
The Sethergill hissed, placing a claw on the mud. It sniffed the air, narrowing its mossy eyes. With a snarl, it ducked under the water. What's it doing? Nira wondered, and was answered quickly.
It leapt out of the water and onto the land. When it was completely shown, it was even more menacing. Huge and dripping with water, it was seething. Nira and Skandar had to hurry.
They soared over the land, carefully leading the Sethergill to the river. It wasn't a short flight, and when the massive sea dragon started to show signs of fatigue due to lack of water, they were starting to doubt their decision.
The river was just in view, and the Sethergill was starting to slow down considerably. It blinked heavily, dragging its feet. It was losing anger and motive, and if it didn't move, it would give up. It didn't know that there was water only a few meters away.

"Make it angry!" Skandar shouted.

Simultaneously, they dove at the dragon. Eclipse clicked her claws against its head, not enough to hurt it, but to annoy it greatly. Triton nipped at the end of its long tail, shocking it with a low voltage of electricity.
The Sethergill snarled, forcing itself to its feet. Nira and Skandar started to slowly fly towards the water as the massive dragon started to shakily amble towards them. They hovered above the cliff, the Sethergill pausing and staring down at the river.
They had undershot and had led it to the Ravine. Nira had planned to go to a flatter area, but the dragon didn't have enough time. It stood on the edge, considering the drop. Its scales were growing dry.
Nira could do nothing but watch. The Sethergill would have to jump, or it would probably die. Gnashing its teeth, the massive dragon raised onto its hind legs. With a mighty road, it dove into the Ravine.
It floated for a moment, shocked by the slamming into the water. The Sethergill clung to a large boulder, holding itself under the water as it hydrated its scales. When it regained its colour, it raised its head above the water.
With mossy eyes, it stared at Nira and Skandar. It seemed to... Understand. The anger had dissipated, and it just looked at them with a gleeful gaze. It knew. It was going home.
The Sethergill backflipped above the water, diving back in and swimming quickly down the river. With the speed of the water and the swimming abilities of the dragon, it would make it to the ocean in a rather short amount of time.
Nira cheered, pounding her fist in the air. Eclipse stared at the river at the Sethergill, who was disappearing in the distance. They glided over Skandar, Nira giving him a high-five.

"I think that we just used up your entire day off." Skandar noted, pointing at the setting sun.

"I wouldn't call it wasted!" Nira responded.
