Old
The hair on top's thin
And walking's not an option
There are deep creases in his skin
But his eyes are clear
Clear as the brightest day
He needs lots of help
Just getting around
And sometimes the indigestion's bad
A fact he can't ignore
The food is bland, too
All pureed and mushy
Specially concocted
For the dentally challenged
And the way people talk to him
Condescending
In his face
Like he's hard of hearing
Or doesn't understand a thing
But he does, he understands plenty
No need for histrionics
He's not deaf
Sleep's not a piece of cake, either
Waking all hours of the night
Tossing and turning
Coughing and churning
It's tough, all right
Life's plenty tough
When you're
One
Month
Old
