~Nobody's POV

Next morning Natsu was already awake before they called him. He expected it was time for breakfast, because a guard came and no one was awake by now to visit.

But he just opened the door of his cell and waited. "Jude is visiting me again?" Natsu asked confused.

The guard shook his head and bowed. "Lucy Heartfilia found proof she is yours and freed you. My apologies for the complaint, you're free to go. A man named Zeref is waiting for you in the lobby."

Natsu raised his eyebrow, staring at the guard. Who knew if it was a trick?

He just gave a cold shoulder to the guard and walked out.

~Natsu's POV

I know Lucy, she wouldn't change her mind so fast. Especially not within a day.

I walked out and saw Zeref waiting on a chair. "Yo," I greeted him. He stood up and whispered, "You need to come to the mafia."

Of course Zeref is a member too, and when Wendy becomes older, she would be too. Zeref wasn't participating in our activities though, because of Mavis's death. Mavis was his girlfriend, and he wanted to propose to her. Yeah, must be heartbreaking for him.

I had one relationship and the break up was a tiny bit messy. Like literally.

But Zeref is a strong member, who we can't afford losing.

I nodded and followed him. He led me to his car and we drove off. I called Virgo.

After a few rings she answered the call.

"Out of jail already, master?" she asked. By the background sound it didn't look like she was in my mansion. "Where are you right now?" I asked. I heard her laughing nervously.

"Uhm... in your mansion of course," she lied. I am not in the mood to yell right now.

I sighed. "Tell everyone I'm back and that they have to COME back," I said.

I caught a "Punishment?" from her before I ended the call.

Really, she's a gluttony for punishment, exactly the reason why I don't give them to her.

I'm gonna kill Lucy.

We arrived seconds later and I went straight to the office. My best members and the woman were there. I sat down on the big chair. "What's going on?" I asked emotionless.

God, the tension in the air.

Erza shoved a paper to me and I read it. A message? A threat? My eyes scanned the paper quickly.

No, a warning.

"Who?" I asked, giving everyone a suspious look. They were nervous, that is clear. I think I know why Lucy put me out of jail. "We don't know," Laxus said. I studied the paper. "When did you get this?" I asked, searching for a connection.

"Yesterday, 5:18 pm." Gray answered.

My eyes went wide. Jail, mysterious person, paper, code, mafia, warning, code, all on the same day.

"I think it's Heartfilia," Gray said, nodding,

"This must be the same person," I muttered under my breath. I looked at my crew. "Do we have any threats or attacks so far?"

They shook their heads. I saw Erza biting her lip and Gray looking pretty worried. I could easily tell they were hiding something.

"Everyone, get out," I said. I'm not stupid. This isn't about Jude.

Erza and Gray also wanted to leave. "Gray, Erza, stay."

Everyone was gone except those two. "What's going on?"

They looked at each other, but didn't dare to say a word. "Nothing," they said in unison. I seriously don't understand how Gray could lie that bad. He's my right hand and my best friend.

Surely he doesn't find me intimidating anymore.

"Gray, you are the closest friend I have, so I know you're hiding something. Erza, it isn't so long that you joined the mafia, but your skills are amazing and you're a good fighter too. You have earned my trust. So everything suspicious in the mafia you must tell."

They sighed, giving in. Gray threw me a dagger, not to stab me, but for me to catch it. Of course he knows I always stay alerted.

I caught it and studied it. I saw two letters making my eyes wide. "M.V. You don't mean it, do you?"

Erza nodded. "Also, I think I saw Mavis yesterday in a store. I lost sight, but remembered her appearance. She had everything that described her," Erza continued.

"Who else knows?" I asked, actually worried if my brother knows. "Only us, I haven't told the guys yet," Erza said.

I softly sighed, relieved. I showed them the note I made from the paper.

"A street name?" Gray asked and I only nodded. "I think the one who gave it to me in jail is the same person from the warning," I said.

I went home with Lucy and we went to my room. "I thought you wanted to see me beaten up," I said, smirking lightly.

"I still do. But if the mafia faced a threat I can't let my family down, can I?" she answered.

I chuckled. "Valid reason."

I advanced towards her, watching her breathing become quicker.

She backed up until she met the wall. "Is giving everyone a free pass your way of being in charge?" I asked, tilting my head.

She shrugged, her posture casual but her eyes told different. "There is no one to work for. Why not?"

"Hmm," I said and grabbed her hair.

"Don't touch me," she scowled playfully.

I yanked her head closer, smirking at the small hiss. "Make me."

"You wish," she said and tried to push me back. I smirked when she grew embarrassed when I didn't move a single step.

"Go take a damn shower," she mumbled.

I grinned and stepped back, allowing her to 'breath' again.

I shoved her out of my room with a grin and took a shower. I finally ate normal breakfast, well what I call normal.

I went to my home office to think. I let Zeref take over the company for a while, he didn't seem to mind anyways. Well, he probably does. Do I care? Nah.

Mavis Vermilion... are you still alive? I took out the paper the cloak woman gave me. It didn't look weird, except the message. If she is or was a member of Fairy Tail, why didn't she show me her face? Is Jude truly our enemy or just a business rival?

Gf m, what does that mean? I walked back and forth, frustrated was an understatement.

Wait, a secret message. "Of course!" I screamed a little loudly, but luckily nobody heard it. "If Mavis sent me this, then it has a secret message. And Mavis was the best to make that kind of things. After all, she studied books for 7 years straight. What were her favorite ways?" I said to myself.

I sound stupid talking to myself, and I normally don't do it.

Argh, I don't know it. We weren't close, I don't know those things.

Light bulb.

Zeref.

Zeref knows almost everything of Mavis. But I didn't want to speak about Mavis with him. He was still upset about it. Bringing it up means bad news. I sighed.

I couldn't do that to him.

Mavis always thinks of other people. So she knew what kind of secret message the person could figure out. So she can purposely choose one the enemy doesn't figure out, or the opposite. If she wants someone to find it out, she can think what way would be the best.

That means..."Fire!" I said, eyes lighting up. I picked some lights from my pocket and lit it up. I held the fire under the paper and letters were beginning to emerge. When there weren't coming any letters anymore I blew out the fire.

I read the hidden message and my eyes went wide. That can't be true...

I rushed the door out and called Lucy to hurry up. She ran downstairs and I grabbed her wrist. I went on the motorcycle, because it was faster.

She held on tight, but I didn't slow down. We arrived at the mafia and I stormed inside. Many were looking my way and I didn't care. I never do. The boys saw me and went inside the office, Erza and Mira followed.

"What did you find?" Gray asked, narrowing his eyes. I placed the paper in front of them.

Geabolg family mafia is your enemy. Please....protect the guild and destroy the mafia. Jude Heartfilia blackmailed me, please put him in jail. They are going to attack you guys on 10th of February. Don't go to the street above, that's a trap. Jude seriously thought I would help him. If you are reading this Natsu, then I knew you are the rightful leader of the mafia. I knew you were smart to figure it out.

I made a plan. You can find the plan in the basement of FT, I secretly put it there when the coast was clear.

-Your Fairy Star Strategy

Everyone looked shocked, can't blame them.

Someome cleared his throat. "But this all could still be a trap, in a trap," Gajeel said snickering at his own remark. However he understood it isn't the time to joke.

"I don't think so," I said, but I had my doubts.

"We have only two options. Just doing nothing and see what happens on the 10th of February, or preparing everything," I said.

"Option two," Laxus said. Everyone agreed.

We all walked to the basement. And like the letter said, there was a plan, fully in detail. It has to be true. It was in a locker with a protection system. A voice recognizer, an eye scanner and a code of 1 letter. And you only have one chance with the letter. So it has to be the real Mavis.

I opened the plan, and we were now completely sure. "Yup, it is Mavis," Laxus said.

The plan was completely Mavis style. We discussed the plan and all agreed. The plan doesn't need a lot of people, our group now is enough.

It only felt like we were being watched.

Someone else is in the basement.

The cloak woman came in sight from the shadows. Everyone went in a fighting stance when she walked this way. The guys took out their guns and the girls their daggers. I stepped in front of my friends and lowered their wapens.

"Mavis, please show yourself," I said harshly.

She hesitated, but eventually did it. Luckily we are the only ones here and the basement is shut. She revealed herself. My eyes widened a little bit.

Still the same.

She became all teary. "P-please forgive me," she said and fell on her knees crying.

We all ran to her but it was Gray who hugged her.

"Don't cry, even if I don't know you, I know you're a good person," Lucy said. My brow twitched a little bit. She has something for speaking at the most unnecessary moment.

After she calmed down we sat in a circle. She explained everything, including Jude threatening her with a hostage, Zera.

"Does Zeref know you're alive?" I asked. She had her head down and shook it.

"Do you believe me?" Mavis asked. We all nodded. She smiled, but something seemed off. Everything seemed off. Her eyes were dull, not full of brightness.

I began to think about all the events. This is too good to be true. I knew Jude from the information of Zeref. Jude always had a secret plan in a plan.

I gasped. This is not Mavis, well it is, but she acted like she...ughh, just read further.

I took out my gun and aimed at Mavis. Everyone's eyes went wide. "Natsu, what are you doing?" Gray asked confused.

"Everyone, weapons out," I demanded. They obeyed, but didn't understand the situation. Mavis didn't move a single hair.

Then we heard loud shots upstairs. "Natsu, what's going on?" Lucy said panicking. Mavis's face was blank, comfirming everything.

"Mavis lied to us the whole time. The Gaebolg is attacking us right now, that is why there is such a noise upstairs. She wanted us away, bacause we are the strongest here. She deceived us. Jude blackmailing her is true, but she lied about everything else," I said fast, but cold.

Everyone's eyes went wide from the betrayal. Mavis didn't even have one weapon with her.

"Is that true?" Laxus said still confused but some anger began to boil inside him. She nodded, causing all of us to focus on her directly.

"I never knew you were this clever. I'm truly sorry. I didn't want to do this. But now I need to free Zera so I can stop this," Mavis said and wanted to walk away. Mavis's eyes showed regret, she would not do it if Zera wasn't captured.

"We are not letting you go," I spoke aiming my gun at her feet. I don't give a fuck that she was Zeref girlfriend or a member. It was Zera or the mafia. And she chose Zera.

"Look, sorry about lying to my comrades, I had to. Help the others in the upstairs, please. I know where Zera is, so next time I'll be your ally instead of your enemy. That is, if you let let me of course," Mavis said and disappeared.

We ran upstairs and were immediately greeted by our enemies.

We split up to help the others. I fought along with Jet and Droy. We were attacking the enemy. I took out 10 opponents already. They are only large in number, not in force.

Almost none gun shots, everyone was on each other, making aiming difficult. That's one tactic of us. If we were to be attacked by a large number, mix with the opponents, so if they shoot they risk their own members.

Our opponent is not too weak and not too strong, but if we work together it will work. After one hour of fighting it finally stopped.

"Everyone retreat," their leader screamed and the enemy died out. I smirked, aiming my gun at his feet when he retreated.

"Ah fuck," he yelled when I shot. Immediately they all turned around, glares on their faces.

Too bad everyone here had gun aimed at them already.

"It was so stupid to attack us," Gray said, throwing back a laugh.

"Fucking leave already, pathetic puppets," I snarled. Their glares intensified when I said that, making me almost want to laugh.

They're puppets. Puppets of a Jude Heartfilia. Once they went out the door, I ordered Gray to get our old system up again.

We didn't have guards in front of our entrance, pretty stupid now that I think about it.

That was gonna change.

I checked everyone and we mostly have cuts and bruises. Nobody died, luckily. Just severe hurt.

"Everybody fine?" I screamed. Some were saying, "No," so we went to them. Lucy and Mira treated their wounds.

I can't believe I didn't see it sooner. I'm so stupid. I went to my office. Gray appeared a minute later. I slammed my head on the table.

"You're blaming yourself, aren't you?" Gray asked, of course he knows me.

The rest of my crew came in. And I still don't know why but apparently Erza, Mira and Lucy were apart of it.

"If I had figured it out sooner, I could have prevented it," I said.

"No, nobody could. Not even you," Jellal said.

"I understand Mavis's decision. To protect the one closest to you, you would sacrifice a lot for them to be safe," Lucy said. It sounded like she knew how it feels.

"But the members were her family too," I said quietly.

Gray went to stand behind me, his eyes shadowed by his hair. "She has a lot to make up for."

"But given the situation she's in, you understand her decisions, right?" Mira asked.

Gray scowled, giving Laxus a warning glance. "When becoming a member, the rule is you have to dedicate yourself to another one's safety, not endanger them. She—"

I interrupted him by raising my hand, gesturing for him to shut up.

"But that's stupid. I'm completely sure she knows how powerful Fairy Tail is and that the attack is nothing compared to other fights," Mira said.

I looked at her, noticing her frown. "Without loyalty you're nothing. The attack was indeed nothing, but it could have been. If you're ready to sacrifice everything for once person, you don't deserve to be part of the family."
