Chapter 18

~Nobody's POV

Lucy woke up, a little bit earlier than 7am. "SHIPS!" Lucy screamed and cursed herself. She quickly put on her uniform and went to Natsu's room.

She knocked three times and called him. She didn't hear a noise coming so she called again. "Master, are you awake?"

No answer.

She decided to open the door. When she did she found a bed with no Natsu. That's weird.

She went to see if he is in his bathroom...nope.

Lucy decided to not let it bother her, "He probably went to work already," Lucy shrugged.

She went downstairs and saw everyone standing there. Lucy raised an eyebrow. "Is there something wrong?"

"No, nothing. Natsu went away. He would come back in the evening," Loke said. She only nodded, not completely buying it.

Lucy was reading a book in her room, bored out of her mind.

-meanwhile with Natsu-

He was walking the building in, the secret base. Natsu was greeted by his members and he returned it.

"I want a team going with me to face a traitor," Natsu said emotionless. The members nodded and people went to stand in front.

The team he decided to bring is Gray, Laxus, Jellal and Gajeel. Those where already enough. A couple of days earlier Mira and Erza also joined the mafia.

They we standing behind Jellal and Laxus. "Mira, Erza..." Natsu began. They flinched a little bit.

"I want you to keep everything in check. Till I come back, you girls are in charge. Understood?" Natsu said.

They nodded hesitantly. "Are we good enough? We just joined," Mira said.

"I'm trusting you. Don't let me down, cause if you do, I won't show mercy," Natsu responded, smirking a little bit.

Their eyebrows shot up before they calmed down a little bit.

"Roger that, boss," Erza finally said something.

Mira bit her lip, hiding a small smirk. In all the time she knew Erza, she never called someone boss.

Natsu walked away in front, the boys following them. "Who is the unlucky man?" Gray asked, still walking.

"Hao Arlert," Natsu answered with disgust. The others nodded.

They went in a black car and Jellal drove. "Can you explain?" Gajeel said.

Natsu nodded, playing with his fingers with a glass of wine.

"It's easy. He made a deal with Heartfilia. He swore his loyalty to him, invaded FT and took the chance to hurt some of our members. He still doesn't know I know his goal. I'm his target. He's going to pay for hurting my family."

"Maybe we shouldn't let people join that easily. We are an easy mafia, but still the strongest. I mean, look at it. We just let Lucy, Erza and Mira join. What for use could they be?" Gajeel asked.

"You know Makarov made those rules. I respect them. And I'm pretty sure the girls won't betray us," Natsu said, licking his lips. A cruel look passed in his eyes. "They don't have anywhere to go."

"All right, but what about outsiders who are nowhere near connected to one of us? They could betray us easily, just like this."

Natsu cocked head, understanding his reasoning.

Then he pulled the end of his lips upwards. "Look at you, finally saying something smart."

Jellal snorted, along with Gray. Amusement flashed into Laxus's eyes.

Gajeel narrowed his brows. "Fucker."

"Likewise," Natsu replied, chuckling. "All right, I'd figure out a way in the future."

When they arrived at his own company, they stepped out the car.

Natsu was again taking the lead. They came by an assistent. It was a woman, she looked up.

She smiled sweetly. "Good morning, sir. Do you have an appointment with Mr. Arlert?" she asked looking at her computer. "No, but we have unfinished business," Natsu said, leaning over her desk.

"I'm sorry. I can't just let people in," she apologized.

Natsu clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Do you know who I am?" Natsu asked, the boys were quiet, knowing he could handle it himself without violence.

"Of course I know. You are Natsu Dragneel," the woman said, still holding up the sweet smile, though a flicker of annoyance flashed into her eyes.

"Then let me go to him. I could get you fired in a second," Natsu said, his eyes as dark as the night.

The woman eyes widened.

"Are you threatening me?" she asked, hiding her heavy breaths. She knew very well the man in front of her was powerful. He could almost do anything and get away with it.

"It's a warning," Natsu said, his voice monotonously.

No matter what she wanted to hide, her tense posture says enough.

She bit her lip. "Go in," she said softly.

The boys followed amd Natsu was the first one to walk im his office. Hao looked up, and was taken by surprise.

"Natsu! Is there something you need?" Hao asked, looking sincere for a moment.

"Yes, actually I do," he responded and sat on a chair. Two of his crew blocked the door and the other two stood behind him. Natsu knew Hao didn't have security near, pretty stupid.

"I'm listening," Hao said.

Natsu let out a small chuckle and turned his eyes to him, narrowing.

"Care to explain your connection with Heartfilia?" Natsu said, malice in his voice. His eyes widened and he gulped.

"What are you talking about?" he said, playing dumb.

"You know very well."

He stood up and fixed his tie. "Hold on a second. I have a meeting," he said walking towards the door, passing by Natsu. Natsu looked at him when he walked passed him, raising a brow, disbelief in his eyes.

The boys blocked the door, not allowing him to walk further. Natsu, still unfazed, decided to stand up and look at him.

"You're not going anywhere, traitor." Natsu voiced filled the room with his tone.

"Please. Somebody forced me to," Hao begged, but everyone could see he was just making up excuses.

"Now, tell me the exact reason," Natsu demanded walking to him.

He probably thought he would face the consequences either way.

"You know why? Because you just take advantage with your power, thinking the powerless ones are bad. Thinking you have the upperhand in every situation," he said.

"But that is the truth."

Natsu was still showing a blank face. He slowly took out a gun from his pocket. Hao eyes widened. Then Natsu spoke with a firm voice.

"You swore your loyalty to Heartfilia and broke your loyalty to me. You betrayed me, hurt members of my family. You are going to pay. I found out about your plan on killing me. Do you think I am stupid or something? Now give me a good reason to not kill you," Natsu said, tilting his head.

He was gulping, trying to find the right words. "Because otherwise your slave will be dead too. I have sent people to her," Hao said, not lying.

Natsu let out an evil chuckle. "Lucy is more than capable of protecting herself," he said, though alarm bells rang in his head.

Did Lucy ever have fighting lessons?

The next moment Hao body fell to the ground. A big red spot was forming. Natsu shot him straight in his heart.

"Sad, you could have had a nice life. You didn't even defend yourself," Natsu said, staring down at the body.

Then he turned to the boys who were satisfied with him dead. "Hide the body, make some excuses, I'll handle the next security," Natsu commanded and they nodded.

"I'm going to check on Lucy," he said calm. He went outside, straight to his mansion. He heard noises, Lucy screaming.

He rushed to the door and went to her room, but the moment he was on the second floor it went quiet.

Natsu slowly opened the door and saw two lifeless bodies. He saw Lucy at the end, holding a gun. Her arms were shaking furiously, tears were pouring down her face. Her eyes were wide open, heavy breaths echoing in the room.

And the moment later she broke down.

"N-Natsu..." she sobbed. "I killed s-someone," she said, hands covering her mouth. She looked so disgusted with herself in that moment.

Natsu knew Lucy was smart to see the gun in the drawer. He looked around and saw little holes in the walls.

He didn't care at the moment and went to Lucy calming her down.

"I just kill—"

"I know," Natsu said, interrupting her. "Don't cry. They were trying to kill you first. It was pure self-defence," Natsu said.

"Still," Lucy said, her cries being heard by many.

Natsu wanted to say something, but he saw her already unconscious. He sighed. He never knew she would react this way when killing someone. But then again, this was his lifestyle, he's used to it since when he was young.

His eyes went wide as he saw the sticky, red liquid under her shirt. She was losing blood, and a big amount too at this pace.

He rushed to the infirmary in his mansion. There was the friend of his mother.

Grandeeney, Natsu's mother, had taught her friend everything about medical, and she swore to treat her children als her own.

"Please help Lucy," Natsu said placing her down. She sighed a little bit, but obeyed. After an hour the bullets were removed and she was sleeping peacefully.

She has bandages around her arms and legs.

Natsu hold her hands and looked at her face.

"I know it's hard for you to believe you killed someone, but you did. It happened, and you can't take it back. Don't be disgusted with yourself, you did nothing wrong," Natsu spoke lowly and left her.
