Chapter 12

~Lucy's POV

I woke up early, around 6.00 am. So proud of myself, I woke up without an alarm —which I forgot to bring by the way.

I sat up straight on Natsu's bed. He was still sleeping. I slowly got up, trying not to make much noise. I went to my room, changing into my uniform. I walked downstairs and made breakfast for myself.

I never thought of this idea, but doesn't Natsu want breakfast served on bed? After having a discussion with myself I decided to do it.

Who doesn't want breakfast in bed?

I made some toast bread with eggs, ham and of course some peppers. As a drink I simply got some milk. I put it on a tray. A relaxed morning, well that is what I call it. I went to Natsu's room and just walked in.

He was still sleeping, so I whispered softly, "Master Natsu, time to wake up. I made breakfast you can eat here."

His eyes shot open, he lazily rubbed his eyes. He looked at where I stood and what I held. "Did I give you permission to bring food in my room?" he asked straightforwardly.

"Uhm... no," I answered, looking down. I tried my best to make them and he doesn't even appreciate it.

He sighed. "Well, you're already here, so give me the food."

I placed the tray on his lap. He immediately ate the food, leaving no crumbs uneaten. After he was done he shot me a rare grin. "Thanks for the food, you can go clean now."

I nodded and picked the tray from him. I bowed a little before leaving his room. I sighed as I leaned against his door. He didn't punish me or whatever. He actually ate it.

"Leave," I heard him say again. "I see your shadow under the door."

My face flushed red as I quickly left.

"At least he said 'thanks' for the food I made," I mumbled. He never did that before, right? Step by step.

I was cleaning the living room, until I heard a doorbell ring. The butler was absent, so I opened it. Till my surprise I saw Zeref. I greeted him, knowing I have to be respectful towards everyone who has contact with Natsu.

"Good morning, Zeref. Nice seeing you again," I said while flashing him a smile. He just gave me a cold stare, making me feel awkward. "Hey, tell Natsu I'm here," he said, walking straight past me.

While he was walking past me, he accidently pushed me, making me fall. But I think he did it purposely though.

I stood back up and went to Natsu. I knocked on his door. I opened it after getting a respond from him. "Master, Zeref is visiting you. He is waiting for you in your office," I said softly.

He looked at me and then nodded. I went back to working, but I couldn't focus. Zeref's rudeness surprised me. I thought he was nice.

~Natsu POV

I got dressed in a white blouse with a tie and black pants. I walked downstairs to my office. I saw Zeref sitting on the chair opposite mine behind the desk.

I walked to my chair, leaning forward, hands intertwined, elbows on my desk, hands under my chin. I knew this is something important, otherwise he would call me or just sit in the living room.

Something seemed off, Zeref didn't have the kindness in his eyes, it was replaced with a emotionless one.

And it's not like I'm not used to it, because believe me, I am.

"Good morning, Zeref. What's up?" I said. Even if he is my brother, I will always have to be serious if it is about business.

"Good," he said plainly. I frowned a little, Zeref never answered like that.

"Why are you here?" I said. That is where he was talking. "Well, you know about company H, right?" He asked. I nodded my head slowly.

"Do you hate that company?" He asked again. And again I nodded. I don't just hate them, I despise them. They have done cruel things to innocent peoples. He killed them for power. I want power too, but I don't go that far.

Sometimes...

"I found interesting information about them," he began. By now my full attention was to him. "The CEO's name is Jude Heartfilia."

My eyes went wide, does that mean Lucy is his daughter? The fuck, Lucy's not important right now.

"He is desperate to find his lost daughter. He is willing to give almost everything in his possesion. But if you want him to suffer. Kill Lucy or torture her and send a photo from her to him," Zeref said.

My eyes went wider, he never gave these cruel ideas. This is not the Zeref I know. "Zeref, what happened to you?" I asked upset. He didn't give me an answer, but I already saw it in his eyes. "Jude did something to Mavis, didn't he?"

He nodded, "Because of him, I lost her. He fucking killed her," he exclaimed, the anger in his eyes visible. "But what do you want to do about company H?" he asked me.

"Definitely not killing Lucy, I'm not that heartless," I said, but I felt some new bad feeling towards Lucy.

She's the daughter of that bastard, meaning she is the lost heir. "I understand you said that, but can you atleast send a picture to him, so he can know you have her daughter," Zeref said, or rather begged.

That look doesn't look all too good on him.

He lost the love of his life, the only thing on his mind is revenge. I pity him. "Fine," I said, giving in. I walked towards him and gave him a hug.

Finding that out must be hard for him. "Don't beg, Zeref. Fifth rule of Igneel," I reminded.

My father made some rules when he was still alive. Treat your family nice, admit when you're at wrong, protect your loved ones, don't betray your people, don't beg for anything, and so on.

"Yeah, sorry," he said, breaking the hug. After exchanging some other things he left.

She was sweeping the floor, singing happily. She turned to me, her eyes questioning as I glared at her.

I scowled. "I cannot believe you."

She looked to the ground, fumbling with her hands. "Did I do something wrong?"

I lifted her chin, daring her to look me in the eyes.

~Nobody's POV

Natsu was still looking Lucy in the eye. "Looks like I found the lost heir of the Heartfilia company," Natsu said. Lucy's eyebrows shot up in surprise.

"How do you know?" she asked shaking. Natsu went close to her ear, "I have my ways. Now why didn't you tell me you were?" he asked.

"I didn't know it was your rival," Lucy said trembling from fear. Natsu roughly pulled his hand away, standing up.

"Whatever, it's not like you are worth being a Heartfilia anyway," Natsu said.

Lucy took a deep breath and glared at Natsu. "Now what? What do you plan to do?" she snapped. He raised an eyebrow at the sudden outburst.

"Still daring to raise your voice at me, while I obviously have the upperhand?" Natsu said. And he continued. "Be glad I have atleast a heart. Otherwise, I would murder you and your family till there is nothing left. Bunch of assholes," Natsu said.

Mavis was his friend too.

Her hands shivered."How do you expect me to be, like my father? I hate him too. He killed my own mother. My own mother! She was everything I had left. My sister was also murdered. I ran away! Only to be captured and turned into a slave."

She roughly wiped her eyes. "And I was fucking glad my masters were at least better than my father. But hey, here you are, judging me because of my background. Your 'no disrespect' rule can go to hell. If you don't respect me first, you can't expect me to give it to you," she yelled.

Natsu stood there speechless. He closed his eyes. Igneel's secondth rule. He was kind of in the wrong. He did judge her. Shouldn't he be the one smarter than that?

"Are you saying you are not like him? That you despise your own father?" Natsu asked, his teeth gritted. Lucy looked up from the ground. "Of course I'm not like him. I care about my friends, I don't even treat strangers like trash," Lucy said, her voice not wavering.

"Well, surprise, he is looking for you all over the world," Natsu said.

Lucy eyes widened a little. "He is looking for me after all these years?" she asked to no one in particular. "Are you going to give me to him?" Lucy asked, clenching her hands.

Natsu clicked his tongue. He should have known. She was nothing like her father.

Natsu sighed. "No, I won't," he said. Then he face palmed to himself. "Sorry, I had a rough week."

And it's not a justifiable reason, but it's the only thing he could offer now.

"How could I make it up to you, for everything my father did?" Lucy asked, eyes closed. She offered to make it up to him, for the sins her father made. She was truly a nice person. Natsu saw Lucy still closing her eyes, hands clenched, teeth gritted, Natsu quickly took a picture from it.

It was for Jude, Natsu promised Zeref he would do it. On the photo she looked broken, perfect if he still cared a little for her, he would break down too.

Lucy blacked out. Probably because of the lack of food and overheating. He immediately reached out to catch her.

He picked her up, sighing while staring at her. He went to his bedroom and placed her down.

"Sorry," he said again.

He stroked her hair. "You won't have to deal with him ever again. Consider him dead in a month," Natsu said.

He went back to his office, starting up his computer and checking the security cameras around Jude's mansion.

He narrowed his eyes as he saw him arriving back home, just his whole face was pissing him off. "And to think I almost lost to you."

He called Gray.

"Hey," Natsu greeted.

"Sup," Gray responded. "What do you need?" he asked.

"I want to know if your slave knows that your are a member of a mafia," Natsu asked, leaning backwards in his chair. He wanted to know if he could let Lucy know.

"No, maybe I will tell her later. Do you need me to run an errand?" he asked.

"No, I just wanted to ask if everything's all right," Natsu said.

"The mafia isn't stupid without their boss," he said, and Natsu could hear the eye roll.

"Luckily," he remarked.

"Call me when you need. I need to go now."

After Gray hung up Natsu searched for Jude's mail. "Photo sent," he mumbled to himself.

Of course he made sure that his name wasn't in the email and used an anonymous email, making sure it couldn't be linked to his own.
