Aspen is known for being cold to anyone and everyone. His gaze is usually emotionless or secretive, describing his personality perfectly. He may be sarcastic, but it's far from your typical, playful sarcasm. The only time he is sarcastic is in a cold manner. Even with this behaviour, though, his little sister has never seem put off by it. In contrast, however, she's a ray of sunshine, almost literally. She is always playful and never confined, the opposite of her older brother. Even though his sister is the only person he has ever come to adore, he doesn't act any different around her than he does around anyone else.

Along with this, Aspen is also a quiet soul. He doesn't talk very much and his movements, too, always seem to be quiet. His emotions never come to the surface with this quiet soul, and are often times dampened out of stubborn habit. You'll never see anger on his face, but neither will you see a grin ― unless it's about something cold, that is.

✘his little sister. it doesn't always seem like it, but aspen's only soft spot is for his little sister, davina. he's busy a lot of the time, but will only ever make time for her.

✘power. a bit of a control freak from time to time, but aspen prizes power over almost anything. he finds power not just physically, but mentally, too, through books and knowledge.

✘piano. piano is one of the few things you'll ever catch him doing. most of the time, his things are private, but he'll play the piano out in the open.

✘coffee. he's almost always drinking coffee, without sugar or milk might I add. it's amazing this guy sleeps.

✘languages. aspen has always had a talent for picking up languages and he's taught himself five languages fluently; english, french, latin, spanish, italian.

✘cooking/baking. there are cabinets and cabinets of cooking and baking books, so aspen taught himself so that he could make things for his sister.

[ dislikes ]

✘crowds. aspen has grown up not being around very many people, so the first time he left his house, he felt claustrophobic about how many people there were.

✘new people. again, he didn't grow up around very many people, so new faces can make him uncomfortable and more cruel and cold.

✘crying. surprisingly, davina has never cried a day in her life. however, aspen absolutely hates the sound of crying. there isn't much of a reason, just that he doesn't like it.

✘ being bossed around. a bit hypocritical, but aspen absolutely hates following orders that aren't his own.

[ backstory ]

Aspen's parents were really only around much for the first three years of his life. Afterwards, they had started to disappear and only come back once a year. For a majority of his life he was with nannies until he was sixteen and told his parents he no longer needed one. Aspen teaches himself through textbooks that his parents stalk up on, but he has never attended actual school. However, this doesn't mean that he is clueless when it comes to social norms.

Aspen's parents may have kept him confined to his house, but they never did a good job at it. During the night, he'll sneak off as long as someone is there with his sister. When previous staff members have asked him why, all he will say is that he has reasons for doing what he does.

your character was hired as the nanny/tutor for aspen's little sister. when you got the job, his parents had explained that they wouldn't be around the house except for once a year, and that your character's boss would be aspen. they had been at the dark mansion for two weeks, growing close with the younger girl, but never seeing aspen himself. it wasn't until midnight one night when he finally made an appearance. you heard the sound of something breaking and walked out to the dinning room to find aspen cleaning up a broken glass with davina helping him.

your character had been at the mansion for two weeks after being hired by aspen's parents as a tutor/nanny for davina, his little sister. his parents explained they wouldn't be there much, and that aspen was the boss when they weren't. however, you hadn't even seen aspen since you came, until two in the morning one night when he was coming into the room next to yours and he stumbled into a wall, knocking pictures over and onto the floor. his hands were coated in dried blood as he gathered up the pictures.
