cal is naturally a hidden person. as much as he tries to be open, he tends to talk about others more than himself. unconsciously, he avoids topics of his personal life and keeps to lighter topics. he isn't entirely serious unless he is getting called out for this or he's working. the only time he'll ever be impossible to crack is on those topics. but, a majority of that is because of how serious his work is.

cal can be a light person to be around if certain topics are avoided. he loves to joke around with people, but he won't always make a move to get to know them. while he is surrounded by friends, they're not friends on a personal level. he never goes out of his way to flirt with someone, either, knowing that he has trouble sharing anything that would cause a serious relationship to develop. therefore, calev generally steers away from the entire topic of relationships at all.

as an effect of his job, calev can also be a bit paranoid. he doesn't entirely trust people for the fact that he's paranoid about their intentions. he doesn't show this around a majority of people, and will never show it in a room full of them, so this is a trait that only ever comes out when he's alone.

along with being hidden, light, and a bit on the paranoid side, cal is generally a caring person about few things. he wants to help people, yes, but he finds it hard to have an attachment with everything he sees happen around him. however, when he does care about a person, he's extremely caring. he'll go out of his way to move mountains for someone he cares about, even if they don't recognise it.

as for the rest of his family, cal either believes they're dead or he no longer is in contact with them. after no one would take zane in, he did while he was going through school and he was irritated with his family after that.

cal hasn't had any relationships that have lasted long in the past. he's attempted to date about five times, the longest only lasting two weeks.

[ backstory ]

calev was always the top of his class with the way he thought and analysed everything. he didn't enjoy putting things to use that he didn't see a point in, so he was always finding a reason to learn what he did. eventually, it led him into the world of criminal justice and forensics. he never had any sort of passion to do it other than he loved solving mysteries and putting a rhyme and reason to why things happened.

when cal was fifteen, his little brother was born, after his mother had been remarried to zane's father. three years later, his mother passed away and no one else from his family wanted to take his younger brother in so that he could go to school. therefore, calev took it upon himself to move into a flat while in school and help raise zane rather than allowing him to go up for adoption. his step-father, zane's father, had either passed away or left, and cal had never taken the time to track him down. cal still takes care of zane now and most who see them assume that cal is his father, even though it's far from the truth.

"i was wrapping up a case yesterday, so i'm sorry that i wasn't out to train you," he said as he saw [your character] approaching.

I apologise if this isn't the best character I've ever had, but I do have some better planned ones on the way. I might add more to this one because I'm excited to see how these plots turn out, though. Also, I don't claim to be an expert on any of these fields. I'm not a crime major and don't entirely know everything about it, so I have shows, novels and a bit of non-fiction interest reading to get me through.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I can add to this book to make it better, let me know. I'm thinking of new plots and adding in some fandoms? Any other ideas are encouraged.
