Second Person POV
•-•-•-•-•
You had confessed your love to Kyoya Ootori on a chilly day in November, hugging your sweater to your body tightly to block out the wind. Your hair flung behind your shoulders gracefully, as if you were in a movie.
At least, that's how it seemed to Kyoya.
He loved the way your silky HC hair framed your face, how your EC eyes shone brightly whenever you were excited or happy. Or even the way your laugh sounded as it echoed throughout the school hallways.
He was surprised by your confession and so desperately wanted to accept, but couldn't because of his father. He was not permitted to date, or even marry, someone who didn't bring merit to his family.
Now, this does not mean that he didn't think you had what it takes, that you weren't worth it or good enough. No, he thought the exact opposite.
Even so, Kyoya regretfully declined your confession. You both decided to stay friends, as you've known one another ever since you transferred to Ouran from another school. He tried to explain it to you, but it didn't stop the heartache.
He never told you his true feelings for you, which is probably why you suffered so much.
A lavender rose had sprouted at the back of your throat, despite you telling yourself that everything would be okay. That you didn't need Kyoya's love. Apparently your body had a different mindset.
You distanced yourself from Kyoya, thinking that this might help. Your efforts had been futile. At the time, this disease was rare and nobody knew of any cure for it. That meant that your fate was sealed, unless Kyoya returned your love.
He never did.
In the end, you coughed up flower petals and blood in your pearly white bathroom, on your knees. This caused you to choke, your mouth and throat clogged up. You collapsed onto the floor, staring up at the ceiling as you awaited your long and slightly painful death.
Nobody was home at the time of your passing.
The news hits everyone that knew you hard, especially Kyoya. He was informed that you had the Hanahaki Disease, and immediately knew that he was the cause.
If only he had told you how he truly felt, you would still be living and breathing.
It was all his fault.
But how could he have known that this would happen?
He had been very concerned when you began spending less time with him, even ignoring him sometimes. The depressed look engraved into your once shining eyes..
Kyoya lays on his bed poignantly, eyes never leaving the photograph set on his bedside dresser. It was of the both of you, smiling and laughing at a local fair. You had your arm around his neck loosely, his looped around your waist.
In your free hand was cotton candy that you and Kyoya had shared, and in Kyoya's was the photos you both had taken in the booth. The one taking this picture had been Tamaki, who had assisted you in dragging Kyoya along.
Tears roll down Kyoya's cheeks like a river, dropping onto his pillow.
He had lost the one thing that kept him going.
You.
