The echo of thunder roared though the night as the heavens opened and rained poured onto the desolate land below. Completely baron of any life other than a handful of people still struggling to make their way to the under ground with the few remaining Pokemon they could find. They screamed for their loved ones and mourned for the millions who had already passed. Many people were carried because of serious injury cause by the savage wind and
With a screech Yveltal, the Pokemon of death and destruction, lunged at his opponent. His enraged furry completely enveloping the world in darkness as he screeches echoed eerily throughout the lands.
Xerneas, the Pokemon of life and beauty, limped out of the way. She'd fought with all her strength but still it wasn't good enough. Her rainbow jewels were shattered in some places and in others missing completely. Her life force was draining as she struggled to protect the world from the dreaded Yveltal.
She found a cave to hide out of the sight of Yvetal and collapsed onto the bare ground, breathing hard as her blood stained the ground. She was heaving for air yet she barely breathed at all. She closed her eyes and as the last of her breath left her body she whispered a single prophecy that was carried by the wind and heard as a whisper by every person left in existence.
When one life ends another has begun,
for ten years this storm will rage on until a girl of twelve will rescue the world from the evil and bring peace.
She, and she alone, shale find the jewel of love, the jewel of peace, the jewel of hope, the jewel of joy. Then the jewel of serenity, the jewel of bravery, the jewel of giving and the jewel of life.
Together combined these eight jewels shale end His rain and bring forth the sun. The rain will vanish and the storming retreat. My gift of guidance will be with her for the challenges to find these treasure are to much for any one child to bare alone but when the time is right, I shale be reborn again to stand with her and fight as one.
With her final breath uttered her body faded in a glow of light, the last that would be seen for years to come. The glow twisted through the air and to the sky before evaporating but not before picking out a girl who was watching in fear and awe.
All eyes turned to the children of the generation. The future for human kind and the future for the world.
.* Ten years later *.
"Give her back!" I yelled struggling from the grip of a vine whip.
"How'd you even get an Espieon? You're so pathetic you couldn't even beat a Magikarp." Maya snorted holding Violet by the scruff in her neck. "She'd be much happier as me for a trainer. After all I'm the one who's going to find Xerneas's jewels."
~Espi!~ Violet, my Espieon, cringed, shaking her head while trying to scratch Maya's hand.
"Violet's mine, give her back." I whimpered as Maya's Weepenbell tied me to a rock.
"Why would Espieon want a weak trainer like yourself?" Maya sneered while her gang laughed. "You're such a... a... you know I can't even think of a word to describe it, that's how pathetic you are."
I cringed back as Weepenbell finished tying me to the rock. I struggled to free myself as the rest if Maya's gang sneered things at me. Maya walked over to me and punched my stomach making me wheeze.
Violet decided that she'd had enough of Maya waving her around by the scruff of her neck and twisted around, biting Maya on the wrist.
Maya let out a scream and threw Violet to my feet. "That stupid little rat! Weepenbell, tie it up to."
~Weep.~ The Grass/Poison Pokemon nodded and made two more vines. He used them to tie up Violet's feet and tie her to my side even though she fought back, Weepenbell was much stronger than her.
Maya sneered at me and Violet before turning and walking away with her group. Leaving me tied in one of the many tunnels that ran through the mountain.
Years ago, when I was just a baby, the Pokemon of destruction, Yveltal, had destroyed the surface forcing humans and Pokemon to flee below. Now the People and Pokemon of Sinnoh lived in Mt Coronet. Not many people dared go above the surface because Yveltal always seemed to know when people did and they were never seen again. Before she had died trying to defeat Yveltal, Xerneas had made a prophecy saying that a girl of twelve would defeat Yveltal. Since His storm had killed many people and children the remaining humans had sent messages around each region to see who it would be and the only girls enough that were still alive at the time were myself and Maya. Everyone knew though that it would be Maya. I was to timid and easily frightened to go search for Xerneas's jewels.
I pulled again at the vines but Weepenbell had done his job well, making it impossible the slip my small hands out.
Violet was trying to claw or bite at her ropes but Weepenbell had tied a vine around her muzzle to stop her. The only light came from Violet's jewel. I sighed and slumped against the rock, closing my eyes, waiting for someone to come and find me... Again.
~Drill?~
I opened my eyes and saw a Drillbur I'd befriended a while ago. He was wild but still my friend.
"Drillbur can you help me please?" I asked timidly.
~Bur!~ He cried out excitedly and jumped onto the side of the rock, cutting though the vines with ease.
I fell forward slightly but caught myself and rubbed my arms where I'd been tied down. I turned to Violet as started pulling at the vines to free her.
I silently picked up the Espeon and held her tightly, making my way back to Central Cavern where the main population of the survivor from Sinnoh lived, which wasn't many. Drillbur skipped by side, happy as always. When we were on the edge of the main cavern, were everyone lived, Drillbur waved goodbye and dived into the ground.
"Marie! Where on earth have you been? In just a few minutes you're meant to be in city square for the choosing." My mother said as I entered out little cave home.
I shook my head. "Maya will be chosen, there is no need for me to go, beside mother, how do we know how Xerneas will choose anyway? Just because we're both in front if the shrine doesn't mean it will appear that way."
My mother sighed. "We don't ask, we do. Now let's go." My mother opened the door and gestured for me to leave.
She followed me out the door, Violet at my heel.
The city square was build in the centre of Mt Cornet with a large shrine dedicated to Xerneas in the middle. Maya, not to my surprise, was already standing in front of the shrine. She smirked at me when Violet and I pushed through the crowd of many to take outlet place next to her.
"Little late aren't we Marie?"
I just looked away as the entire cavern held its breath, the seconds ticked on until the city clock struck midnight, the day both Maya and I turn 12.
The shrine lit up in green-purple light and an orb formed above it.
I held my breath and looked at my feet as the orb advanced on Maya. Anyone could of guessed that would happen. Maya smirked confidently as the orb twirled twice around her before floating over to my. I held stiff as it looped around me twice, then twice more. It floated in front of me a moment before bolting towards my chest.
The moment of impact I didn't feel pain. I felt warmth spread through out my body. I closed my eyes for a second before opening them, finding myself no longer in the centre of the city. I was surrounded by bright green and purple light. It swirled around me in fine wisps of light, surrounding me with warmth and light.
Some of the strands of light merged together to forms a magnificent deer Pokemon stepped forward, made purely of light.
It stepped closer to me and lowered its head, looking into my eyes with its X shaped pupils. ~I choose you.~ Her soft voice seemed more like a hummed song then a voice.
She tapped my head with her nose and all the light was absorbed into my body.
As the light disappeared it was replaced by the cavern of Mt Coronet. Everyone was staring at me, including an enraged Maya.
"How dare you!" She hissed stomping over to me. "It was meant to be me!"
I took a small step back as the population of the cavern stepped between Maya and I, some led her away while others congratulated me.
I just stood there silently...
I was chosen...
I would have to find the right gems of Xerneas...
Alone...
