the upside down pt.1
Mike got up, running outside. A couple of minutes later, he comes back in. "They're gone," he exclaimed. "What?" I ask. "Nancy and Jonathan. His car's gone," Mike explained. "They're probably just sucking face somewhere," Dustin suggests. "No. No way!" Mike exclaimed. "Did they go with the chief?" Dustin asks. "I don't know," Mike shrugs. "No," El blurt. "What? Did you see them? Do you know where they went?" Mike asked. "Yes," El whispered. "Where? Where did they go?" Mike questioned. "Demogorgon," El replied.
"Guys, guys! This is crazy. We can't just wait around," Mike argued. "Mike, in case you forgot, we're still fugitives. The bad men are still looking for us," Lucas opposed. "Yeah, and we don't even know where your sister is," Dustin adds. "El can find them," Mike suggests. "Mike, look at her. I still think we should stick to the chief's plan," Dustin exclaims. "Exactly. We stay here, keep El out of sight, and keep her safe. That's the most important thing, remember? Besides, she's okay. She's with Jonathan," Lucas reassured. "Yeah, and she's kind of a badass now, so..." Dustin exclaimed. "Well, where are you going? You just said stick to the plan!" Mike shouted. "I am. I'm just gonna go get some chocolate pudding. I'm telling you, Lunch Lady Phyllis hoards that shit," Dustin replied. "Are you serious?" Mike yelled as Lucas followed Dustin. "El needs to be recharged!" Dustin shouted back.
"Mike, I found the chocolate pudding!" Dustin yelled. Mike, El and I all sat in a classroom "Okay!" Mike yelled back. "Are you feeling any better?" Mike asks El. She shrugs. Mike turns to face me. "Y/n, can you give us some privacy?" he whispers. My face drops but I nod, nonetheless. I slowly walk away from the two. I sneakily stood by the door way, watching their conversation. "What's 'putting'?" El asks. "Pudding, it's... it's this chocolate goo you eat with a spoon. Don't worry, when all this is over, you won't have to keep eating junk food and leftovers like a dog anymore. My mom, she's a pretty awesome cook. She can make you whatever you like," Mike smiled. "Eggos?" El asks. "Well, yeah, Eggos, but real food, too. See, I was thinking, once all this is over and Will's back and your not a secret anymore, my parents can get you an actual bed for the basement. Or you can take my room if you want, since I'm down there all the time anyways. My point is, they'll take care of you. They'll be like your new parents, and Nancy, she'll be like your new sister," Mike suggested. "Will you be like my brother?" I hear El ask. "What? No, no," Mike scoffs. "Why, 'no'?" She asks. "Because... 'cause it's different," Mike sighs. "Different? Different how?" she asks. "I mean, I don't know, I guess it's not. It's stupid," Mike frowns. "Mike?" she blurts. "Yeah?" Mike asks. "Friends don't lie," she exclaims. "Well... I was thinking... I don't know... maybe we can go to the Snow Ball together," Mike suggests. My face dropped even more. I don't know why, though. Mike was my best friend and there was no way I liked him. I don't like anybody. "Snow Ball? What is Snow Ball?" El asks. "It's this cheesy school dance, where you go in the gym and dance to music and stuff. I've never been, but I know you're not supposed to go with your sister," Mike explained. "Why?" she asks. "I mean... you can, but it'd be really weird. You go to school dances with someone that, you know... someone that you like," He starts. "A friend?" she asks. "Not a friend. Uh.. uh... someone like a..." Mike stopped talking before he leaned in and kissed El. A few tears fell from my face as I quickly walked to the others, trying to forget what I just saw. I don't get it. I don't like Mike that way but for some reason, seeing him with a girl that isn't me makes me angry. I'm just so upset that El got a better first kiss than me. I know we made up, but I don't know what to think anymore. I can't be jealous. I won't.
"Guys! Guys!" Mike shouts as he runs into the kitchen. "What is it?" Lucas asks. "They found us," Mike pants.
We run down the hallway, being extra careful. "How did they find us?" Lucas asked. "I don't know, but they knew we were in the gym," Mike replied. "Lando," Dustin exclaimed. The doors in front of us burst open, a bunch of men coming in. "Go, go, go!" Mike shouted as everyone turned the other way. We were out of luck because we were cornered. El used her powers to kill all of the guards. Soon after, Eleven fell to the ground, we all ran to her. "El, are you okay?" Mike asked. "El!" he shouts. "Something's wrong," Mike declared. "She's just drained," Dustin protests. "No, no, no, she won't wake up. El! El! El!" Mike yelled.
"She's barely breathing," Mike explained. "We gotta go," Lucas shot. "Leave her. Step away from the child," A man demanded. "No!" Mike yelled. Four men come from behind us, grabbing Mike, Lucas, Dustin and I. "No! No! Get off! Get off me!" Mike, Dustin, and Lucas shouted. "Let her go! Let her go, you bastard!" Mike screamed. Eleven looked around. "Mike! Mike! Mike! Bad!" she whimpered, trying to pry away from the man holding her. The lights began to flicker. "Blood," Mike blurt. "What?" Lucas breathed. "Blood," Mike repeat. "Demogorgon," I exclaim. The Demogorgon burst through the wall. Everyone started shooting at it as the four of us went to El. We picked her up and ran to the nearest safe spot.
We entered a classroom, locking the door on our way in. Dustin and Lucas placed El down on a table. We surrounded her, trying to reassure her. Mike repeated everything he said earlier.
We heard the monster screech, and the gunfire stopped. We watch as the door burst down. "Go, go, go, go, go, go!" Mike yelled at Lucas to get the wrist rockets out. Lucas hit the Demogorgon with a rock, repeating it again. We yelled at him to move faster as the monster got closer. Lucas hit the monster, sending it flying back into the wall. El pushes us out of the way as she walked to the Demogorgon. "Eleven, stop!" Mike ran after her, but she used her powers to push him back. El turned around to face us. "Goodbye, Mike," El murmured before turning back to the monster. She lifted her arm up, using her powers. The Demogorgon let out an ear-splitting scream. We all cover our ears. El began to yell as the monster died.
When it was all over, and the noise stopped, we open our eyes to see both the monster and El gone. "Eleven?" Mike shouts. "El!" The boys and I follow. We looked around for her but found nothing.

Everyone's parents had come to get them, all except mine. I waited for ten minutes after Mike went home. All of a sudden, a bright light flashed in my face. I squinted my eyes as I adjusted to the light. I realized it was the light to Steve's car. I watched as he stepped out of his car and ran over to me. He kneeled down to my level as he embraced me in a tight hug. He lifted me up and carried me to the car, strapping the seatbelt on before getting into the drivers seat. I continued to cry quietly as Steve sat in silence. "Please... talk to me," he whispered. This only made me cry more. "When we get home, I'm not gonna leave you alone until you speak to me," he explains

Steve kept his promise as he sat on the edge of my bed, not leaving me alone. "Fine," I cave in. Steve scooched up to where I sat as he wrapped an arm around me. "Just tell me what you can, okay?" he requested softly. "Troy... t-threatened to cut off all of Dustin's teeth unless Mike jumped off the quarry. So, I made a deal that if I kissed him he would let everyone go," I stutter. "You should've just called me. I would've beaten him up," Steve jokes. "And now I don't know whats happening to me," I sob. "That would probably be puberty," Steve explains. "No! I mean, I think I like Mike, but... he likes someone else," I sniffle. "You like a boy? Wow," Steve smirks. "It's not funny! I can't like anyone! It's a distraction," I whine. "Maybe you need to move on," he suggests. "Moving on is healthy... even though you may feel like there is no one else out there for you, your person is right under your nose," he smiles.
