The best way to wake up is to have your annoying alarm clock resonating inside your eardrums on your very first day as a new student in a high school located at the heart of the city because you're about to experience the most dramatic cliché high school romance movie unfolds before your eyes.

In Boo Seungkwan's case, he immediately threw away the alarm clock, ignoring the fact that alarm clocks have value for its worth. What? It's not like he's gonna be late for school... that would be overly cliché. In fact, it was too unlikely to happen otherwise luck wasn't on the side of the main protagonist.

Except that he was definitely late for school.

What a way to start the first day of high school in another city. Thus far, it has been quite cliché, though he was embarrassed to admit it. It was probably his karma for trash talking cliché romance movies before he moved to Seoul.

Of course, it must be Seoul; not Jeju, Busan, Gwangju, nor Incheon. It's Seoul: the capital of South Korea, the busiest place in the country, the rural area with high productivity rate. The place for every KPOP fan fiction's schools and colleges. It's the damn Seoul, not his home city Jeju. Seungkwan knew he still has much to learn about this place.

Long story short, Seungkwan hated his life.

When you look at him, you can literally see the hatred in his eyes. Yes, the boy was a trash for rom-coms. However, at the age of six and a half month, he started to despise such genre due to its cliché, predictable, and unrealistic storyline put in a form of TV show.

His hatred for cliché movies wouldn't stop growing. As a realistic individual, he sought nothing but the key to escape this hellish place we called world.

Too bad life hated him.

His parents' blossoming relationship began in a coffee shop which obviously sounded like an overused fanfiction trope he could find in Wattpad or AO3. If you thought that's pretty cliché, remember that Seungkwan's two sisters also had a pretty cliché encounter with their partner.

Seungkwan's eldest sister were roommates with a guy who's now her so-called lovely wedded husband, which didn't make any sense because boys and girls usually don't share the same room unless they're somewhat related.

His second sister admitted that her husband was her boss (also known as the rich ass CEO) and she was one of his employees. Seungkwan could only stare in awe when he heard the story for the first time.

Perhaps the cliché-blood that runs through the Boo's family is a curse for whatever Seungkwan's ancestors had done in their previous life. That's why Seungkwan had been living his life half-heartedly because he's disappointed in his ancestors.

"Seungkwan, you're gonna be late for school!" Mrs. Boo yelled from downstairs.

"Yeah, I know. Thanks for your concern," he replied, jumping out from his comfy mattress as he prepared himself so he would look more presentable for first impressions.

Seungkwan did a fashion show before going down to eat his Kimbap made by his beloved mother, who he'd like to call as Mrs. Jwa. After kissing her goodbye, he put on his shoes to go out. Mrs. Jwa waved him as she watched him go to the nearest buss stop. Tears fell from her eyes, acknowledging the fact that her Seungkwan has grown up.

On the other side of earth, Seungkwan was facing an existential crisis. He's still not used to the new environment, especially since Seoul people were cold and difficult to work with, unlike the people in Jeju. He ended up going to the wrong buss and decided to run. He wanted to look presentable for his first day, yet it was all ruined as soon as he felt sweats dripping everywhere.

Pledshit High School was indeed massive. Seungkwan couldn't remember how many times he got lost in the building. The poor boy spent five minutes running without direction until suddenly another person bumped onto him, leading him to his fall with his butt landing on the floor.

Great, he thought sarcastically. When he had already planned to break the family's curse, the world fought against him. Firstly he's a new student who just moved to a new city, then he got lost which eventually made him arrive late to school, and lastly he bumped to a stranger.

Perfect. There's nothing cliché about this, right?

"I'm sorry, are you okay?" asked the stranger. He offered his hand to support Seungkwan's body as he stood back up.

No, my ancestors did something wrong and I have to live my life with their sin. Oh right, I am lost in this hellhole with sweats all over my body, and lastly I feel nothing but pain in my lower abdomen, so I'm pretty not okay I guess.

Instead he replied, "Yeah, I'm alright. Thank you for bumping me because you're gonna be that one kid who would show me everything because you're that important side character."

Oops, did I say that out loud? he said in his head. He cursed himself a couple of times for breaking the fourth wall.

The guy ignored his statement. "I apologize for getting in your ways," he said, "by the way, the name's Jisoo. I believe we've never met before." He fixed his crumpled school outfit, then gave him a bunch of tissues for Seungkwan's sweat.

"No shit, Sherlock." He snatched the tissues and wiped his face. "I guess I have to introduce myself too..." he muttered, "Seungkwan. My name's Boo Seungkwan."

"Never heard that name before. Are you a new student?" he asked. Seungkwan wondered why he's still talking with him at this point.

He nodded. "Yeah, and why are you not in class? I'm new here but I can already tell we're both late for class."

Instead of panicking, Jisoo gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry. I already have the permission to be here right now," he explained, "if you're new here, why don't you follow me to the teacher's office? They would've tolerated you."

"Guess I have no choice." He deeply sighed. On the other hand, Jisoo seemed to be quite energetic as he led Seungkwan to the teacher's office with a smile that couldn't be wiped away, though Seungkwan must admit he had a beautiful smile.

Jisoo knocked on the door which had the Teacher's Office sign dangling at the very top with Seungkwan standing obediently quiet in hopes for a good first impression from the teachers, not like the teachers cared.

"Come in." A deep ass voice was heard from the other side of the door. Jisoo gave Seungkwan a 'you can come in' look, which he only replied with a slight nod. Jisoo then led him inside. Unlike Seungkwan, Jisoo wasn't awkward even at the slightest.

They bowed lightly. "Excuse me, Sir. I accidentally stumbled across this brand new student and I thought of bringing him here since he's not informed about the class he's in yet," Jisoo explained in the most polite way as possible.

The teacher looked at Seungkwan for a second. "Ah, yes. May I know your name?"

"Boo Seungkwan," he stated.

"Boo Seungkwan..." He crosschecked some papers from different files. "This is your student's card and name tag." Seungkwan immediately offered his hand and eyed the items. "You will be studying on class 1.7 for the following school year. Jisoo, do you mind to introduce him the important parts and show him his class?"

"Of course, I don't mind that, Sir." He glanced at Seungkwan. "Are you okay with that?"

Seungkwan shrugged. "Sure, why not." Honestly, he didn't really care about the formality, but it's better to do this rather than studying on his first day in which he's already late for.

"You may leave now."

"Thank you, Sir." They both bowed before leaving the room.

Jisoo seemed to understand how Seungkwan had no interest in studying for his first day, hence he took this opportunity to show the school's building while introducing the school's systems, rules, and programs.

Not even midway to their journey, Seungkwan was already getting bored. He was supposed to be glad for being able to experience this, yet he couldn't help but grow tired in every steps. He wanted gossip, not nerdy talks like this. That's the reason he went to school; to gather a group of friends who enjoys gossiping the school's bitches and annoying teachers.

Throughout his 17 years of living, he didn't learn anything beneficial from school. Those algebra shit and the periodic table hadn't give much impact to his life. Instead, the hot tea and rumors changed him to a better person. Despite being a coffee guy, the Americano loving boy came to school for the tea and the tea only.

He tried so hard to shift the school's talk aside. "Jisoo, what class are you in?"

Abruptly stopping his explanation, Jisoo complied. "Same as you," he said, "and it's nice to have a new student since the class is very chaotic so I thought a person like you would be perfect to make it less chaotic cause you have this sort of calm aura surrounding."

Seungkwan snorted. "I guess I'm kinda calm... when I'm with the right people." He understood himself well and the word 'calm' didn't seem to fit anywhere. "If all people are like you, then I'd probably stay calm."

"Well, our classmates are..." He couldn't find the exact word to describe their heterogeneity. "They're always high on something, especially that Seokmin guy. He's a different breed."

At this point, Seungkwan wouldn't even get surprised to hear that one of his classmates were vampires, werewolves, elves, fairies, mermaids, Disney princesses, even Harry Potter. Vampire and Werewolf AU used to be a big thing on the internet which was also a part of the popular fan fiction tropes, and considering his curse, nothing surprised him anymore.

Jisoo ended up taking Seungkwan to the school's park to prevent him to die out of boredom. They're basically skipping school, but they're not. They had permission after all.

They sat their butts on the rose quartz and serenity colored bench underneath the blue sky. Everything looked too ethereal for Seungkwan's liking. He felt like living in a romance movie with crappy character development, but with beautiful sceneries so that the audience have something to cry about.

Jisoo broke the silence. "Don't you think it's funny how our class is called 'class 1.7' when we're actually second years here?"

"Damn plot," Seungkwan murmured under his breath. On the other side of the world, Jihoon was laughing his eyes off while casually watching them suffer.

"What is it?" Jisoo failed to hear Seungkwan's words. Something about Seungkwan's self-talk felt important. At least that's what he thought.

The shorter shook his head. "Nothing," he lied, "I was just thinking about your sexuality."

"My sexuality?" Jisoo didn't expect to hear such question to be given to him from a person he just met, yet he still answered. "Well I'm definitely not a heterosapien."

"So you like boys?" He asked again. "Don't be afraid, I'm not hitting on you or something."

"Don't worry," he ensured. "Yeah, I like boys. I like water too, though." In Seungkwan's mind, this Jisoo guy was the embodiment of Haruka Nanase from Free. His tastes reminded him of Haru.

"Do you like mackerel?" He was basically interrogating Jisoo.

"I like chicken," he said, "because chicken will heal our hearts from all the hard times."

This conversation was getting weird in Seungkwan's head, although he was the one initiating such topics. Quickly, he stood up like he's about to actually go to class. Jisoo complied immediately, then proceeded to take Seungkwan to their respective classroom.

Too embarrassed to say hi, Jisoo entered the class first to explain the situation to the teacher and his classmates before he gave Seungkwan his cue to go inside. Seungkwan let Jisoo handled everything. He even introduced him for his sake. What a kind person.

The teacher only smiled as he told Jisoo to sit on his seat which is located at the rear front, whereas Seungkwan must sit on the very back. Not exactly the furthest seat, but at the second back row, where he could see two people smiling at him in a way that they've known each other for years where in reality, they're not.

He smiled at them before sitting on the empty seat next to the guy with brunette hair. He instantly introduced himself to Seungkwan.

"Nice to meet you, Seungkwan. My name is Lee Seokmin and my favorite food is pizza." They shook hands. "This is Soonyoung." He referred to the boy sitting behind.

The mentioned boy also gave Seungkwan a friendly smile. "Hey, I'm Soonyoung, you can call me Soon." He fake laughed. "Never mind, just call me Tiger."

In spite of their weirdness, Seungkwan managed to endure their chaotic existence because these two guys would be the people he called 'friends' for the following year and beyond.

Instead of studying, Seungkwan took his time to observe the classroom and the people surrounding. Everyone looked normal for now. There were students who were actually studying in class, whereas the majority of students were zoning out, and lastly one of them decided to sleep in class. He haven't learned about his name yet, but he couldn't care less.

Seungkwan turned his body to see the person behind him. From his line of sight, the person's behind him seemed like a normal student. He didn't pay attention to the teacher, instead he's drowning himself in the world of fiction as he casually flipped his novel's pages, still with Seungkwan's gaze remained unnoticed. The name 'Jeon Wonwoo' was written on his name tag that was attached on his vest.

Seungkwan concluded that this Wonwoo guy was harmless as ever, judging from his appearance alone. He looked calm, which was true. They never talked, yet Seungkwan could already tell this Wonwoo guy wouldn't try to mess with his high school AU life.

As mentioned before, Wonwoo was indeed a nice child, aside from the fact that he brought a Death Note to school for unspoken reasons. Rumors said that he brought that item specifically to threat Soonyoung who kept messing around him.

For now, nothing was out of the ordinary. First day of school was alright. Could've been better, but still acceptable, all thanks to Jisoo. No bitches, no hoes, and most importantly there's no love interest at sight.

When Seungkwan thought he's the only late one there, another student barged in with the most chill demeanor comparing to the rest of the students. His entrance shook everyone, even Wonwoo at the back.

The teacher looked displeased. "Hansol, you're late again."

"I guess so." He put on a fake smile.

"Go to your seat," she ordered. "Detention after class for keep arriving late to school."

"Okay." He didn't look bothered as he took his seat next to Jisoo at the front.

Seungkwan needed tea. "What's with him?" he asked Seokmin who's playing cards with himself in an occurring lesson.

"Yeah, he's bad news actually." Seokmin pulled a card with a disappointed expression. "You can say he's the school's jock."

Soonyoung barged into their conversation without being asked. "He's one of the school's infamous bad boys and you shouldn't get too close to him," he reminded, "the only person who can approach him is Jisoo because he's holy and clean."

"Soonyoung, how many times I have to remind you not to talk in class?" The teacher shot him a deadly glare. "Seokmin and Seungkwan too. I know you're still new, but please stay silent in class."

Whenever a teacher scolded one of their students, the attention automatically fell to the person's mentioned by the teacher. In this case, the whole class turned their heads to stare at them. Their gazes were not intentional, they had no meaning. However, Seungkwan disliked this kind of attention. It's embarrassing.

Meanwhile when they got the whole class to stare at them, Seungkwan's eyes focused on Hansol. He's well aware of his two friends' reminder. However, he couldn't resist the fact that the boy was really beautiful in every angle. It's like God made a mistake when creating him and spilled to much element that made his face looked so gorgeous.

"Lord Jihoon, please spare me." His fingers were crossed underneath the table.
