I woke up to sunlight slipping through the drawn curtains, dancing across my eyelids. I shielded my eyes as I stretched, sitting up in bed. I looked over and saw Jimmy tangled up in his sheets, half naked and peaceful. I couldn't help letting my eyes admire him- he had washboard abs for christ's sake.

A trickle of an inappropriate thought threatened my mind and I looked away abruptly. Our conversation last night had clearly stirred something within me. I tiptoed to my dresser and pulled out some running shorts and a band tee, heading to the bathroom. I got changed, putting on some deodorant and brushing my teeth quickly, before slipping out of the cabin.

I plugged in my earphones and cringed at the time. It was far too early for me to be up right now. After last night I didn't want to deal with Jimmy before I got a chance to think straight. It was getting harder and harder to think straight around him (pun intended).

I thought about jogging, but I cringed at the idea of running after yesterday and settled for a forest stroll instead. My legs still ached from yesterday and I knew today was going to be even harder. I looked around and took a deep breath. It's refreshing to be walking around outside- usually I drive everywhere. There was a green rooftop made of trees above me, gently swaying in the wind. The sound it made was very calming. With every step I took, leaves and branches crunched underneath my feet.

I thought about last night. I had enjoyed talking to Jimmy a lot. A bit too much, judging by my heart pounding when I saw him this morning. I groaned- why did I always get caught up in this kind of drama? Why couldn't I have just liked Will- he was clearly interested and out of the closet. I was physically attracted to him, but the problem was that I wasn't emotionally attracted.

It was undeniable that Jimmy had been flirting with me recently. Even I, an unsociable idiot, could recognise that. I wasn't sure what he wanted from me though. I knew if we got together, it would just complicate everything in my life. He wasn't out and I don't think he was coming out anytime soon. I didn't feel like being anyone's dirty little secret.

I pondered over it a while longer as I strolled along. It was decided. I would reject Jimmy's advances because I don't want to get caught up in a complicated mess that might end up with me being hurt. We could be friends- I would be more than happy to help him out that way.

I checked the time and decided to walk back the way I had just come, heading to breakfast. By the time I got there, everyone was already eating a full fry up. I wrinkled my nose at the fatty smell and just grabbed some toast and eggs. I once again sat away from everyone else.

I noticed Jimmy sat at the table with everyone else, laughing along to a joke one of them had made at my expense. I rolled my eyes- so much for an ally. I felt his eyes rest on me, but I continued looking down at my food, pushing my eggs around with a fork. That laugh had hurt.

I had just finished breakfast when Coach stood up, clapping his hands to get our attention.

"Yesterday, our focus was on stamina and approaching matches tactfully. Today, we're focusing on teamwork since some of you were never taught to share as a child."

Sometimes I wondered whether Coach was actually allowed to talk to us like that.

"Join me at the obstacle course once you're finished." Coach finished, setting off through the double doors.

I decided to go now, before the others finished their food. I stopped in reception to check the map, locating the obstacle course. It wasn't too far. As I was walked along the path, I heard footsteps slapping against the floor behind me. My heart leapt and I turned around, prepared for a goon.

"Oh. It's you." I breathed a sigh of relief, seeing Jimmy, "Won't they see you talking to me?"

"Nope. They're still eating, going for seconds." Jimmy shrugged, walking alongside me, "Where were you this morning?"

"I went for a walk." I shrugged.

"Avoiding me?" He teased, nudging my side.

I quickly checked behind us, making sure nobody had seen that. Jimmy rolled his eyes at my paranoia and I frowned. I was paranoid for him; I couldn't care less about what the goons thought of me. He was the one laughing along to their insults directed towards me. I walked ahead of him, leaving him stood there.

As I neared the obstacle course, I frowned. This looked hard. The majority of the 'obstacles' were at least a foot higher than my head. I was a little below average in the height department, but I'm pretty sure this would be a struggle even if you were seven foot. I shook my head in amazement, what was coach thinking?

I flopped to the ground, doing some light stretches as we waited for everyone else to arrive. Coach came over to me, crouching down to be more at my eye level. He looked around, spotting nobody, before he patted my head.

"You're doing great, kid."

That was nice, but very strange. I still wasn't sure what Jimmy had told him exactly, but he had been so much nicer now. He straightened up and stepped away as Jimmy rounded the corner with a few goons. I guess he'd gone to join them again after I walked off.

"Nice of you to join us, finally." Coach yelled, making them move a bit faster, "As I said before, today is about teamwork. You will be working with your cabin mate to complete this obstacle course in the fastest time possible. There's nothing wrong with some healthy competition, so the winning team will be receiving a special prize tomorrow."

A buzz of excitement entered the air at the mention of a prize, but I hardly focused on that part. I had to work up and close with Jimmy in front of everyone? After last night? He would be getting shit for this later, especially when we win. At least I was with Jimmy- I had Coach to thank for that. I wonder if he knows he's playing cupid as well as guardian angel, right now.

I finished up my stretches and walked to the start line. I had looked over the obstacle course and thought about the best way to tackle it- I'd have to run it by Jimmy before we started or we'd be a bumbling mess. He strolled over and I laid out my plan, him simply nodding and suggesting a few changes. Everyone else was just telling their partner to be fast.

When Coach blew his whistle, Jimmy dashed in front of me. I jogged behind him and once he got down on his knees, I sprinted towards him and used his hands as a platform to jump up and catch the top of the wall. I pulled myself up and leant down to grab his hands, pulling him up too. We climbed up the rope net together and once we got the top, I bit my lip.

This one looked hard. It was two logs vertical to each other, with no barrier or rope to hold onto. I watched as a goon caught up and tried to simply run across it, stumbling and slipping into the muddy water pit below. I stepped onto the log cautiously and Jimmy did the same on the log across from me. We held hands and used each other to balance as we shuffled along the long. My foot slipped at once point and Jimmy pulled me towards him, tightening his grip on my hand.

We finally made it to the other side and Jimmy high-fived me, moving onto the next obstacle quickly. This one was a large gap to cross with only two pieces of wood. I went first, placing a piece of wood down and walking across it, taking the other piece of wood with me. Jimmy followed behind and collected the first piece of wood, dragging it across to pass it to me. I used that piece of wood to shuffle a bit further and the process continued until we were across.

The next part was a zip wire. I think the point was that you should go and then find a way to send it back for your partner but Jimmy simply sat on it and patted his lap with a smirk. I shook my head, no way. He pointed to a pair of goons catching up and I rolled my eyes, sitting down. He wrapped his arms around me and pushed off the platform, soaring over the water pit and straight into the muddy ground. We leapt up and sprinted to our end goal- another wall.

This wall was a lot taller than the first one and had a rope to pull yourself up. I gulped. My upper body strength was tragic; climbing this thing would be a real challenge for me. Jimmy went first, climbing the fifteen foot wall as if it was nothing. He saw me hesitating and rolled his eyes, sending me a goofy smile.

"I saw the way you leapt through that window at school. I broke up my make out session to gawk at your ninja skills." He teased, leaning down and offering a hand, "You can do this. Just imagine the expression on those idiot's faces."

I smiled at him, using the rope to climb up as far as I could before I started slipping. I managed to grab onto his hand and he pulled me up the rest of the way, both of us ringing the bell together in victory. Coach came over and patted us both, congratulating us.

We climbed down from the platform and Jimmy high-fived me. I almost gave him a hug before I realised where we were and chilled it, simply nodding at him. He scrunched up his eyebrows, but I turned to watch everyone else complete it, ignoring him. They all looked severely more muddy and wet than Jimmy and I. One guy was barely recognisable, looking like a swamp monster.

I received a lot of glares from the guys as they finished. I was used to it. However, what surprised me was that they were glaring at Jimmy too. My heart sank at that; I felt bad. We should have lost on purpose to avoid being in the limelight. That zip line stunt was sure to have turned a few heads.

"Congratulations to our winners at cabin seven. You'll receive your prize tomorrow. Now get running to the football pitches, you've got real training to do." Coach yelled, sending us on our way.

By the time dinner rolled around, I was exhausted. Coach had worked us hard again. My leg muscles were twitching as I scanned over the food for today- no veggie option again. I took some plain pasta, without the bolognese, and some garlic bread. I spotted some butter and cheese and shrugged, it'll have to do for pasta toppings. I grabbed a bowl of salad and some water, sitting down at my own table.

As I munched on my dinner, I noticed a few guys were missing. I frowned as they walked in late, talking in hushed whispers to each other. Something was going on. I scanned the cafeteria worriedly, but saw that Jimmy was sat with them, per usual. They hadn't hurt him. I wolfed down the rest of my food and stood up abruptly, rushing to our cabin.

I gaped at the scene in front of me.
