Chapter 1 - Born from Blur

Her bright green eyes shot open.
A woman clad in a big white wedding dress lay in a fetal position on grass.
In a large open field.

She stood up, looking around her, it became apparent that this field was large; a vast spread of clear green, as far into the distance as her sight could see.
Furthermore, she was very much alone.
"You are joking" she said in disbelief as she grasped her cheeks "I can't be" she continued in panic.

She sank to her feet in defeat.

"This isn't what I expected" she said out loud.

'The idea of Heaven always bothered me a little.

Paradise.

Surrounded by loved ones.

All the people you've ever known that have passed before you.

Well...

What if you can't stand them?

Seriously!

Eternity!

With my bigoted grandparents, that one abusive ex, my former boss who's boating accident changed my life for the better, or Mrs Mumson who lived on the ground floor, who'd report to the landlord that I was walking too loud

That's no paradise...

But neither is this?!'

She mused in her mind...

'But seriously, where is everyone?'

The fair woman grasped and threw down the large bottom of the detailed wedding dress, she loudly sighed and pouted; she resembled a unhappy child, her plump face her and wide, worried eyes made her appear anywhere from 35 to 50 in age range, though her thick, platinum, near white hair seemed unnatural.

With an uneasy furrowed brow, she swallowed a lump in her throat, before stroking the her neck underneath her giant pearl choker; thos action caused her to wince; quickly recoiling her hand away as if scolded.
A tear rolled down her face, followed by more.

She gazed up at a somewhat dull sky – it looked like it may rain, it looked to be afternoon, the climate appeared tepid.

She stroked the painful looking,  very visible scar below her pearls, looking pained as she did so "This has to be Hell, but I don't think I've done anything to deserve that?" she questioned herself as she strolled the plane "or, Limbo, or what's it called? That place where you sort yourself out and earn an upgrade"
She dropped her hand and looked forward...
"Suppose I better get a move on" she stated 'where to I don't know'

Holding the front of her long dress up, she briskly walked with a pout upon her face, gaze fixed on the horizon before her.
She moved ahead for a while, no change, this was before she ground to a stopped.

She winced as she looked ahead of her.
There was something there!
An addition to the stretch of grass and sky.
Colour!

With vigour, she brightened up, lifted her dress further and run; run towards whatever, it was, this, mainly black blemish upon the landscape.

She ran for a long period of time, seemingly, as the 'whatever' in the distance became a 'whoever', or so she hoped...

'Don't be a pile of rags' she begged as she approached a figure; an apparent individual  black and white; a pale face, white shirt and black tuxedo suit became clearer the closer she got.

She approached the individual; becoming disoriented through exhaustion once she was just feet away, she harshly collapsed upon her knees and caught her breath.

Despite wheezing and panting, she smiled and slightly laughed through her noisy exhaustion as she looked down at the man laying in fetal position; a bald headed 40 something, clad in a suit with thick glasses.

"Charlie!" she yelled as she violently shuck the unconscious man by the shoulder back and forth.
He seemed to put up a very slight resistance.
She smiled.

She gave his cheek a harsh smack "Charlie! Wake up!" she bellowed as she shuck him roughly again, however the contact with his face appeared to do the trick, as it was then that he scrunched up his face and stired from his slumber.

"Melody?" sleepily asked as he began to awaken.

"Yeah, it's me" she said as she held his face, before helping him sit up.

She watched him happily as he gained character, she looking at him eye level, into his vacant blue eyes, that appeared slightly magnified under his spec's.

He frowned a little and looked past her "So, how did you get here?" he asked.

Melody frowned slightly, before grasping her skirt and looking away...
Her warm smile melted as she turned to scan the horizon.
"I'm positive I died"
