"Hi!" I smiled up close into the camera as Nick answered the FaceTime. "Yea?" Was all he responded with a sassy tone. "I'm bored." I said dryly into my phone.

"Errrrm. Go stream!" He suggested with a little smile.

"I don't feel like it." I groaned, stretching in my desk chair.

"Hmm. Get a cat!" He shrugged as he played with the exact animal on top of his chest. Mogwai!

Looking at my wall in silence, I spun around in chair before I smiled. "You know what, I just might.." I said before laughing.

"Really??" He shot his face toward the camera. "May-fucking-be!" I shrugged. "I still have old cat stuff laying around from my grandma's previous cat." I shrugged. "And I do get lonely in my room..."

"Okay.. GET A CAT!" He exclaimed. "Hm..." I thought to myself. "Alright. Okay fuck it." I smiled at the camera.

I spun my my desk chair around, now facing my desktop instead of my bed and began typing away to find a cat online. I clicked around when I stumbled upon a local shelter nearby, and searched through the website to find the cats, before I quickly did.

"Found them." I picked my phone up and smiled, turning the camera around to show him my monitor.

"Send me the link, I wanna look too!" He asked politely. "Okay, Sending it on Discord!" I began typing. "and Sent."

"Why, thank you!" I could hear his little smile.

I scrolled through the options, clicking at names and pictures, but none of the cats catching my eye.

"What about Mercedes?" He suggested. "Hm?" I furrowed my eyebrows with confusion.

Bringing my attention back to my screen, I saw the second to last option on the list , highlighted as Mercedes! I quickly clicked on the name and was greeted by an image of a big fluffy black and white cat, that looked pretty young.

"Okay. I'm making an appointment right NOW." I exclaimed with excitement. "I don't care, she's the one." I nodded confidently as Nick laughed.

"Alright, do it!" He supported.

I got up and grabbed the landline near my bed and dialed the shelter to book a meeting with Mercedes. And luckily, I got a meeting and they were open for it at any time until 6:00PM.

I looked at the clock to see it was only 2:00 before I happily ran around my room to start getting ready, considering I was still nothing but a T-shirt.

"IM GETTING A CAT!" I said into my FaceTime with clear excitement. "YOU'RE GETTING A CAT!" He matched my energy and exclaimed.

Staying on the phone with him, I threw on a big grey quarter zip up sweatshirt, along with baggy black jeans, topping it off with random vans I found under my bed. I grabbed my water bottle and car keys to my Tesla from my nightstand. I walked out of my room, and went down the stairs, exiting my house after saying bye to my aunt and grandma; the two ladies clueless of what I was going to come home with.

"You're actually getting a fucking cat." Nick laughed. "I literally suggested it as a joke."

"Yeah, but I am so serious about this, and nothing is gonna stop me." I said with a smile as I got into my car. "What if she doesn't get along with you? Or if you actually end up not liking her"

"Oh, trust me. She will love me, and I will love her." I said confidently before I pulled out of my driveway, and began making my way to the shelter.

As Pandas stayed on the phone with me, I put my phone on the charging stand I had bought. He talked about his day as I carefully listened and drove through my town, trying to locate the nearby animal shelter.

"So, when are we gonna meet up?" I randomly brought, trying to continue the conversation. "Soon." He smirked.

"Better be." I looked at him briefly before looking back at the road.

"Oh shit." I looked at my phone's GPS and back at the road. "I'm here!" I said eagerly and looked at the building I've been keeping an eye out for. I quickly made a U-Turn to pull into the small parking lot in front of the shelter.

"It'a time." I took my keys out of ignition, and grabbing my phone.

"KEEP ME ON FACETIME!" Nick exclaimed. "Of course, I was going to!" I stared into my phone with a raised brow.

i grabbed my airpod case from my bag, proceeding to put the ear pieces into my ears so that I can hear him easily, I got out of my car, beginning to walk towards the entrance when soon enough, I was quickly welcomed by a nice looking lady sitting at the front desk.

"Hi, Welcome! What can I help you with today?" She smiled, taking her attention off of her computer screen. "Hi, I believe you were the one I was on the phone with earlier." I paused. "To have a meeting with Mercedes?" I clarified with a kind smile.

"Oh, Miss Santiago! It's nice to have you!" She paused before standing up, "Come with me!" She motioned for me to follow her down the hallway.

We walked through the halls of the facility, passing by different animals;m, and soon enough, we came across the cats. And there she was. Laying calmly in a cage.

"I'll be heading back to my desk now, but Carter over here will help you!" She pointed at a cute guy who was probably around my age.

"Here for Mercedes?" The guy named Carter asked for clarification. "Yes, the one and only!" I grinned and stepped aside so he can assist to her cage.

Smiling at me before he bent down, he grabbed his keys from his belt loop, unlocking the door, and pulling out, sweet little Mercedes.

"Follow me." He motioned as I listened.

Carter lead me to a secluded room, where I could try and get along with Mercedes before I make my final decision. "She loves the feather toy right there, so go ahead and try and play around." He explained to me as he stood by the wall.

"Look at her!" I whispered to my phone. "SHES BEAUTIFUL!" Nick yelled into my ears. "Okay, Ow." I laughed at his sudden loudness.

I proceeded to sit criss cross apple sauce as Mercedes made her way towards me and soon enough, her cheek was rubbing against my hand, indicating she liked me.

I smiled wide and grabbed the feather toy, tossing it around her as she played with it. Running and pouncing towards the fluffed object.

"Well, she likes you!" Carter spoke as he was observing the interaction. "Yeah?" I smiled, briefly looking at him.

"Most definitely." He nodded. "It's a match to me."

"Well, I guess it safe to say, I would like to adopt her." I looked back up at Carter, a genuine expression painted across my face.

"Good choice!" He smiled and stood up straight since he was leaning against the wall. "I'd say you were insane if you didn't decide to." He laughed. "Well, let me get the paperwork and all that. She's all yours after that." He explained before walking out.

I squealed aloud and looked at my phone to tell Nick I was adopting even though he probably heard everything. "Are you gonna keep the name Mercedes?" He asked me.

"I don't really want to..." I shook my head. "I don't like it."

"What are you gonna name her then?"

"Hmm.." I looked down at the black and white cat. "Well, she kinda looks like a panda." I pointed the FaceTime camera at her as she walked around my legs, comfortably rubbing her head against my shin.

"Name her PandasCanPVP." He whispered out of no where as I laughed in response. "Oh, what about SAPNAP!" He exclaimed.

"God, no." I cringed into the camera sarcastically as he rolled his eyes. "Whatever." He continued before he went deep in thought.

"Hmm.... What about Sapling?" I suggested. "YES!" He yelled. "I LOVE IT!"

"Sapling?" I thought more myself, looking down at the black and white cat. "Well, you're fucked now, your name is Sapling." I bent down and gave her chin scratches.

"Alright, here we go." Carter came back in, smiling as he handed me all of the paperwork I needed to fill out. No lie, she was expensive but I fell in love, so she's my everything now, and I will be getting her.

"Sapling?-" Carter laughed as he peaked over my shoulder, seeing the name change in the paper work.

"Yea!" I nodded. "Cute name."

I continued to finish everything I needed to get finished, and Carter soon brought back some necessities, along with a carrier all for me, that I, of course, paid for.

"Merce- Sapling is now all yours." He handed me the carrier with my new found love inside.

"Thank you so much for the help!" I thanked him as he nodded. "No problem." He smiled before he took a pause, having a clear look that he had something else to say.

"Hey, Uh.. I know this is all sudden... but I was wondering if I could take you out..." He said shyly. "You're really pretty, I just had to get it off my chest." He nervously laughed.

"Like... on a date?" I said kind of taken aback. "Yeah." He slowly nodded with a smile.

"MAISIE AGAHAHAHAHAHAH" I suddenly heard the familiar voice laughing on the other line.

"Uhm..." I said awkwardly.

"Oh, I'm sorry- Are you taken? I should've asked first-"

"Oh.." My body completely shut down. "y-YEAH." I said aloud, LYING OUT OF MY ASS.

"HUH??!!" I heard Nick yell.
"Yeah, sorry. Uh I'm on the phone with him right now." I panicked, pointing at the airpod in my ear.

"Shit- I'm so sorry man-" Carter apologized aloud, hoping my "boyfriend" would hear.

"MAISIE WHAT?!!!!? WHAT!?!$?" I heard Nick continue to yell into my airpods.

"No don't worry about it... yeah it's cool, just a minor mistake." I nodded as my body language was clearly showing my panic and discomfort.

"Mhm..." Carter said awkwardly as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Yeah..." I shut my eyes, just wishing I could get out of this situation IMMEDIATELY.

"Alright then.." He laughed nervously. "I um... I have other customers to get to now... so uh... have a nice rest of your day, and congratulations on getting a cat." He said quickly before walking out of the room.

"Oh my god." I mumbled to myself as I watched him walking down the hall.

"JUST TAKE THE CAT AND LEAVE" The voice in my airpods blasted my ears.

"OH PLEASE, I WILL." I panicked and raised my voice before swiftly walking out. Making sure I see the Carter guy again. Nick stayed dead silent as I struggled to get out of the building but I just know he was laughing at me.

I took a deep breath and walked through the shelter hall, feeling embarrassed as hell. I quickly made it back to my car after leaving the building and took another deep and calm breath. I was probably so red.

I set down Sapling and her carrier into the passenger seat beside me, finally taking my airpods out and laid back into my seat, still feeling embarrassed.

"It was going so well until that moment." I mumbled.

"YOU MADE IT TEN TIMES WORSE FOR THE GUY BY SAYING I WAS YOUR BOYFRIEND." I looked at the FaceTime to see Nick losing his mind through a laugh while he yelled.

"DUDE, I PANICKED." I said in defense.

"MAISIE, THAT WAS SO FUNNY."
"THIS NEVER HAPPENED" I matched his tone.

"IM TELLING DREAM AND GEORGE." He continued laughing. His eyes squinting as his smile grew.

"I hate it here." I groaned into the palms of my hand.

"So." He picked his phone up, looking directly at his phone. "I'm your boyfriend now?" He teased as I let out a yell.

"Fuck OFF." I said once more before I hung up as a joke while he immediately called back. And of course, I answered.

"SUNNY." He said in a complaining voice.
"Hi." I said innocently.

"I'm your boyfriend HAHAHAHA-" He said as he bursted into another fit of laughter. "DUDE, SHUT UP." I yelled out of embarrassment once again.
