"I did try and help him!"
"Don't give me that nonsense. You planned this all, didn't you? I can see it in your eyes." Edgeworth snapped angr- No, angrily was an understatement.

He was fuming.

Fuming and betrayed.

... By himself.

The prosecutor clenched his fists into tiny balls of frustration and longing for his boyfriend's safety, having to will himself not to murder this despicable man on the spot - especially when there were so many potential witnesses around - even though it seemed to be going that way. The mere thought of the fact that he could have easily prevented such a mishap by simply telling Phoenix not to go and meet Clementine made his stomach churn more than ever. This was his fault, and his alone.

.... Well... Sort of, anyway.

"I'm being serious, Mr Edgeworth,"
"And so am I, Mr Persival." Edgeworth snarled aggressively as he noticed another firework being prepared in order for it to fly by two individuals in the distance, the flame they were forcing the thing to be lapped by starting off with a modest spark before it turned into a glorious fire engulfing the bottom-half of the cylindric object. The silvery haired man's eyes instantly flicked back to the scrawny police-officer, disgusted by the fact that he was still concentrating on the unimportant scenery around them rather than the matters at hand.
"But would you really want to risk apprehending me, an innocent man, of plotting to get your boyfriend taken away - based on conjecture?"
"No." Edgeworth clenched his jaw tightly in order to allow some trepidation to filter through before continuing;
"But don't get ahead of yourself. You're certainly not innocent, and I never accused you of being the plotter." A cool breeze swept by, and the cramped crowd around them began to cheer even more loudly, seemingly going 'wild' - for no apparent reason. Clementine swiftly swivelled backwards on his heel to face the site of the fireworks' embarkment on their journeys, automatically assuming that that was why everyone had suddenly got so rowdy.

It was a big firework, from what it looked like, and one that was shaped as a man.

Beer cans and other metal confectionary were thrown aside as the scrawny police officer's scruffy bushes of eyebrows creased with a new realisation dawning on him. That slightly spiky tip of the head, and that slightly small stature... That silhouette could only be-
"Mr Edgeworth,"
"Shut up."
"No, Mr Edgeworth-"
"I thought I'd said..." The prosecutor's voice became dangerously and threateningly low, his vicious eyes locked onto Clementine's with undeniable anger;
"Shut up." With that - and a seething glare which seemed as though it stayed put for at least ten minutes despite its mere five moments if stillness - the silvery-haired man stormed off into the crowd, his fists trembling slightly, attempting to accustom themselves to the overwhelming concoction of emotions brewing inside of him.

The scrawny police-officer awkwardly shifted his weight from leg to leg, probably pondering over what to do about this newly-presented predicament, his eyes drifting over in the other man's wake with little interest. After all, Clementine's mind was being devoured by Phoenix. What if that really had been him? The scrawny police-officer clucked his tongue in disapproval of the prosecutor.

He clearly didn't care about the defence attorney as much as Clementine did, did he, to walk away like that?

Despite this despairing train of thoughts, the scrawny police-officer couldn't do anything - a slave to the cruelties of fate once again. Clementine would have to take things into his own hands.

He'd have to take Phoenix into his own hands.

With those thoughts still fleeting within the peculiar realms of the scrawny police-officer's man's curly-haired mind, Clementine wilfully allowed his routinely-practiced speedy 'leg-walk-running' to slip into action in the direction of the so-called 'firework'.

It was time for this plan to be executed.
