Phoenix coyly smiled at the taller man with rosy cheeks, his jet-black hair dropping its spiky facade ever so slightly as the warmth of the spray pouring above and onto the pair's backs.
"There's no need to be so shy, Hot-Stuff," Edgeworth's voice ghosted in the defence-attorney's earlobe, murmuring softly, kindly, into his boyfriend's ear, his heart-warming words accompanied by a lovely peck on the spiky-haired man's sopping wet cheek.
"It's not like we haven't done this before, after all,"
"I-I know... It's just.. W-We haven't done this... R-Recently," The silvery-haired man carefully brought his large, muscular, arms around Phoenix's fidgeting body, gingerly lifting his chin with a finger as he continued to speak lovingly;
"Are you scared of me? I'll try and be gent-"
"N-No, it's n-not that. I-uh-just.... Aah..." The defence attorney rolled a few words on his tongue - as if to test their authenticity - before finally sighing in obvious defeat and deciding to bluntly place his thoughts in the open instead of 'beating about the bush'.
"K-Kristoph reminded m-me of... N-Nine months ago a-all over again, a-and.."
"Of when you were together?" The prosecutor tenderly stroked his boyfriend's, drenched, spiky-black hair, running his slender fingers through the tangled forest of the drooping stuff. Phoenix jerked backwards abruptly, his eyes wide with shock, with an expression that could only convey that someone had just shot the shorter man in the heart with a spear with incredible accuracy.
"H-How..." The defence attorney began trembling uncontrollably, his back now slamming into the large, plain-white, smooth surface of the shower's ceramic, tiled, far-wall as he attempted to back away into a different room, a different Universe, an infinite abyss of nothingness... Anywhere he could find in order to get away from the situation he was in right now.

If Edgeworth had found out about him and Kristoph's past relationship, then he knew abo-

"Kristoph mentioned something like that whilst I was busy playing hero with you in that cell," The prosecutor paused, eyeing his boyfriend's immediate reaction skeptically.
"What's wrong? Have I found out something I wasn't supposed to know?" The silvery-haired man wasn't being demanding, pushy or nasty in any way - in fact, he was displaying the perfect aura of gentleness and forgiveness -, however the spiky-haired man couldn't help but gulp, frozen with trepidation.

Perhaps he didn't know... Perhaps it'd all be fine. Maybe it'd all work out.

"S-Something l-like that,"
"Actually," Edgeworth murmured softly, gingerly reaching up - past the timid, shorter, man's silky locks - in order to fiddle with the spacious shower's gleaming, silver, knobs until the luke-warm spray became nothing more than a continuous, luke-warm, dribble down the dampened, tiled, wall; the defence attorney's pupils seemed to unnaturally shrink with trepidation for a brief moment as his eyes trailed to watch each droplet caress the contours of the wall, illuminating the space that they were on at each moment in a strange, hued glow. It seemed as if time had frozen as the two remained in silence bar their out-of-sync breathing.
"I was wondering why you hadn't told me about it," The prosecutor's eyes conveyed a well-hidden hurt - something which flickered very briefly within them. Phoenix gulped, suddenly very aware of how panicked his paled skin and evasive manner was making him appear.

It was just so unfair how easily Edgeworth could compose himself, whereas he, being the feeble man he is, couldn't even maintain a straight face.

"I-I..." The defence attorney hated how weak his voice had become, along with the rapidly-decreasing stability of his quaking legs.
"You.."
"S-Stop it.. S-Stop... Th-This.. I-It's not like y-you aren't guilty o-of anything, e-either.. Atramentous, h-huh?"
"I told you, I don't have a clue who this Atramentous is!" The prosecutor snapped defensively, his words becoming more distorted by the sheer volume of his panic at being doubted than he'd anticipated.
"Besides, I asked first. Are you trying to suggest that you're... Cheating.. On me?" Phoenix's eyes widened innocently, his face contorting into some artistic form of dread - not that either of the pair were in the mood for abstract art at that particular moment in time.
"N-No. Th-That's not wh-what I'm getting at h-here," The defence attorney hung his head - in a similar fashion to the way an ashamed stereotypical dog would - and his voice instantly became more subdued and uncertain as he felt his resolve crumbling. The prosecutor was quick to latch onto the obvious weakening of his helpless boyfriend's steeled armour, and brought himself closer to him. Perhaps a gentler tactic would work better at this stage.
"Phoenix... Don't misunderstand me. I'm not angry," Edgeworth firmly gripped the shorter man's smooth shoulders, his knuckles whitening with the amount of pressure he was applying in order to feel like they weren't going to fall out of each other's grip, pinning him in front of him;
"I trust you," The silvery-haired man mumbled softly.
"I know you wouldn't do something to upset me without reason," Phoenix gaped up at the taller man, something resembling tears forming in the very corners of his wide, gorgeously glistening, eyes;
"So show me you trust me back; tell me what's going on... Please,"

Phoenix knew.

Phoenix just knew he was defeated.

He'd seen it happen to others in court one too many times in order not to know when one was defeated.
