Edgeworth slammed the cell's humungous, steel, door open with a force that would certainly put a battering ram out of business. Clementine made a start at the intrusion - as did a very startled defence attorney from his new-found position curled up in the far corner of the room - and yelped in pain as the edge of the door slammed into the lower-half of his leg, barely suppressing the curse-word forming in the back of his mind from jumping out of his vulgar mouth. The prosecutor scanned the room for a brief moment in silence, his stern squint boring a hole straight through the back of Kristoph's head as the kidnapper continued to taunt the wide-eyed Phoenix, well aware that they had a new guest on their hands but refusing to acknowledge their existence.
The prosecutor was having none of that.
Carefully keeping an eye on his poor, tormented, boyfriend's pale, quivering, features, Edgeworth confidently advanced, neatly ignoring the scrawny police officer, until he was situated directly behind the assailant. The silvery-haired man found himself wanting to be cautious as he cast his mind back to the dreadful moment before the police caught the man nine months ago - in which the two had had an aggressive standoff, which had caused his timid boyfriend a great deal of unneeded pain and anguish.
"G-Go a-away..." Phoenix's helpless, squeaky, voice brought the prosecutor back to the present time, and he watched silently to see what Kristoph would do to the defence attorney as he caught his breath from the great deal of frantically running from place to place until he found his boyfriend (which he'd taken part in before finally arriving at his desired destination). The cut-off phone-call with Phoenix had left him even more hopelessly paranoid and worried about the defence attorney, and he'd found himself in a state of frantic searching, ringing up police-station after police-station and bluntly ordering them to scan the whole city in search of him. Perhaps he was so concerned due to the fact that the whole situation appeared to be a mirror of nine months ago, but the prosecutor let that argument slide.
He had more important things to be thinking about at that moment in time than why he was so protective.
"Oh, come on, Pheenie. Be a sport! You said that you loved me, didn't you? All those years ago." Edgeworth stiffened, his ears pricking up with curiosity.
This was the first he'd heard of this.
"N-No..! L-Leave m-me a-alone..!" Phoenix began to squirm restlessly, glancing at Edgeworth every now and then with wide, pleading, eyes - akin to those of a young puppy's. Beautiful, irresistible, round blue pools of iridescent water, catching an alluring sheen from the meagre light of the window each time he moved. The prosecutor found himself lost in those eyes for the millionth time, almost completely forgetting the world around him as their gazes locked on each other, the sounds around them becoming more muffled...
Fading away...
Focus on him...
Focus on those gorgeous eyes...
Stay like this forev-
Edgeworth was almost irritated when his train of thought was halted in its tracks by the shrill shriek that escaped said defence attorney's lips, his mind only just latching onto the fact that Kristoph Gavin was now bending down to touch his boyfriend - the prosecutor liked the sound of that.
Phoenix was Edgeworth's and no one else's.
Whether it was jealousy due to what he'd just overheard about the defence attorney's 'relationship' with this repulsive man or not was beyond the prosecutor as he smacked away Kristoph's bony hands - which were lingering around a cowering Phoenix's face. The defence attorney's face looked unnaturally pale, actually, Edgeworth noted with concern darting about in his mind and deciding to play upon his features, causing his silvery eyebrows to become tightly knit.
"What do you think you're doing to my boyfriend?" The prosecutor snarled protectively as he waited for the kidnapper - who had not moved an inch since he'd been slapped, not unlike some form of motionless reptile - to turn and face him. Phoenix made an almost-inaudible 'ack' sound effect in the back of his throat amidst the silence, his vision seemingly fixated on Kristoph's angular features, as a tear began to stream down his cheek, followed by a cascading waterfall of sobbing;
"D-Don't h-hurt E-Edgeworth a-again.. H-He hasn't d-done anything w-wrong.." The defence attorney quietly mumbled as he meekly reached out to grapple on the bottom half of Kristoph's slender leg, burying his head in the fabric and staining it with tears as he kept uttering the same sentence -repeatedly begging.
"Phoenix..." Edgeworth's voice was dangerously low and hoarse, as if trying to hide the overwhelmingly emotion-laden waves, as he attempted to reach down and gently prise his whimpering boyfriend off of the other man - all whilst trying to retain his dignity.
Kristoph ignored the commotion, emotionlessly staring at the self-conscious Phoenix Wright's pathetic show of 'endearment'.
"Well?" The prosecutor straightened up with a sigh as he realised it was pointless attempting to stop the defence attorney's begging pleas.
"You haven't answered my question." Edgeworth glared expectantly at the other man, puffing out his chest a little in hope of perhaps showing a little superiority and, consequently, putting this man in his rightful place.
"Clementine," Came the kidnapper's gruff voice after a moment of thought, still staring down at Phoenix's feeble cries.
"Yes, sir?" The police officer appeared to have been caught off guard - which was clearly shown by his startled jump as he practically shot his slouched back off of the wall -, however he appeared to manage his tone of voice perfectly.
"You saw that, didn't you?"
"Saw what?"
"What he did." Kristoph lazily gestured towards the prosecutor - whom shot a firm glare back at his new-found rival.
"Sir?"
"He assaulted me."
"What?"
"You're a police officer, aren't you?"
"That was not assault!" Edgeworth could no longer suppress his quashed thoughts' roar as it finally slipped out from between his lips.
"Well what would you call it, then?" The kidnapper turned his head to face the prosecutor in defiance, patiently awaiting an answer.
"Protection. It was... Protection. I was stopping you from abusing my boyfriend." The prosecutor folded his arms, avoiding eye-contact by wistfully staring down at the moping Phoenix below him as he realised how pathetic his argument sounded out loud. Kristoph let out a spiteful laugh;
"And you call yourself a prosecutor? Surely both you and I know that there is no law to justify something as weak as 'protection' in the face of aggression? You're a real nut-case, y'know? Just like Pheenie here." Edgeworth grunted, trying to contain his fury, as the horrid man's mocking of the defence attorney reached his ears. The silvery-haired man clenched his jaw, the stuffiness of the room finally beginning to affect him.
"Clementine."
