Chapter 35

Olivia was a complete train wreck by the time they arrived in Talladega on Thursday afternoon. Ever since seeing Ryan crash at Daytona, just the thought of super speedways made her anxious. Combined with being pregnant, and the dread of having to break the news to her parents after the weekend, she was a bundle of nerves. Not the best thing for her pregnancy.

She was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that she was pregnant, although her morning sickness was a constant reminder that it was very real. Her little episodes of freaking out were totally out of character for her, as she usually prided herself on being calm under pressure. She blamed it on the hormones.

Ryan was amazing. He had taken the news in stride. He was excited, super supportive and helped to calm her nerves. She was feeling a little better until he informed her that Emma would be arriving the next day, and Erin on Saturday.

Olivia adored Ryan's sisters, and under normal circumstances, she would have been thrilled to see them, to have someone to hold her hand through the stress of super speedway racing, but these were not normal circumstances. How was she going to hide her pregnancy?

Olivia was further surprised to learn that Carly and Nicole were also in Talladega. Not long after Olivia's birthday party, Nicole and Alex Bowman had begun dating, and Carly and Chase were casually seeing each other. More like hooking up, but they were having a good time. She didn't want to reveal her pregnancy until she told her mom and dad. Keeping the secret was going to be harder than she thought.

Friday was a pretty easy day. Ryan only had media center and first practice during the day. He was doing the Big One On The Blvd Friday night, which was something he always participated in. Olivia decided she would skip the event. It would be a late night. Loud and rowdy with a lot of alcohol and partying. Ryan offered to skip it as well.

"No you will not." Olivia insisted. "You have fans counting on you to be there, and you will not let them down. I will hang out with Emma and Louie and get some baby practice."

Ryan looked relieved. Although he would love to have Olivia with him, whether it was the Blvd or back in the coach, he understood why she was skipping it, and he really didn't want to miss it and and let anyone down.

Not long after they returned to the coach, Emma arrived with Louie, and Ryan couldn't help but notice how Olivia's face lit up.

Olivia took Louie from Emma, and the baby squealed with laughter. He was such a happy little guy.

"Ooh. Someone is a stinky boy." Olivia laughed, realizing the baby needed a diaper change.

"Hand him over." Emma laughed, holding her arms out.

"Y'all visit. I'll change him." Olivia said, taking the diaper bag from Emma and heading to the back of the bus with Louie.

"Wow. You need to put a ring on her finger. She's a keeper for sure. She's so good with Louie and she even changes poopy diapers."
Emma commented.

"Yeah. She's going to be a great mom." Ryan said without thinking.

Emma looked at him, eyebrows raised. "I mean one day." Ryan stammered nervously.

"So when are y'all going to have one?" Emma asked. She meant it as a joke, until she saw Ryan's face. He did indeed look nervous, like he wanted to say something, but didn't. Or couldn't.

"Oh. My. God! Olivia's pregnant isn't she?" Emma asked, mouth agape. Damn. Nothing got by his sister. Ryan thought.

"We just found out a couple days ago. We weren't telling anyone yet. Livvy wanted to tell her parents first."

Emma flung her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. "That is amazing news! Oh my God Ryan. I am so happy for y'all. You are going to be such a good dad." She squealed excitedly.

Olivia chose that moment to walk into the room. "Ryan..." She began, a slight edge to her voice.

"He didn't tell me. I figured it out. I'm so happy for both of you. I promise I won't say anything." Emma said, hugging Olivia.

Olivia sighed in relief. It actually felt good having someone else know.

*******

Later that evening, Ryan left to go to the Blvd and Olivia offered to watch Louie so Emma and Cale could have a quiet dinner to themselves. She had just laid Louie down to sleep and was about to kick back and watch TV when someone knocked on the door. She was surprised to see Carly and Nicole standing outside the door.

"Chase and Alex are doing a fan event for Hendrick, and I know Ryan is doing the Blvd thing. We ran into him earlier, and he said you were staying in, so I thought we could all hang out." Carly said, holding up a bottle of wine.

Olivia invited them in. "I'm babysitting Ryan's nephew, so I'm not drinking tonight." She explained, hoping they would buy her excuse.

"One glass of wine won't hurt you." Nicole said, handing her the glass that Carly had just poured.

The smell of the wine immediately made Olivia sick. Her sense of smell was highly in tune since she learned of her pregnancy, and she fought to hold back the nausea.

"Liv are you okay?" Carly asked concerned, seeing her friend turn an odd shade of green.

"Yeah....no." Olivia muttered, running to the bathroom. So much for morning sickness. This was well into the evening.

"Uh Liv, hun. Are you sure you should be babysitting if you're sick?" Nicole asked through the bathroom door.

"I'm okay. It's just...." Olivia stammered, coming out of the bathroom.

"Oh my gosh. You're pregnant aren't you?" Carly asked excitedly.

Olivia hesitated.

"That's why you didn't go with Ryan tonight and why you turned down a glass of wine." Carly said, a knowing smile on her face.

Louie chose that moment to wake up, saving Olivia from having to answer her friends question, for the time being anyway.

Olivia went to get the baby, and returned with him to the living area, where both of her friends were watching her expectedly, waiting for an answer.

"Yes. I'm pregnant. Ryan and I are keeping it quiet for the moment. His sister Emma is the only one who knows." Olivia explained.

Both Carly and Nicole gushed over Olivia's news. They promised to keep quiet and as with Emma, Olivia felt a sense of relief having told someone.

Soon, Emma and Cale returned to pick up Louie, and Carly and Nicole stayed to visit with Olivia, until Ryan returned, well into the night, with Chase, Bubba and Alex in tow.

Ryan and Olivia looked at each other. "They know." Both of them blurted out at the same time.

So much for keeping it a secret.
